For my 5-3/4″ square card today the inspiration came from the matting layer of Pretty Panels #1.  This was pushed around on my desktop all week and in the end I decided that I would build it into a dainty border in which I could showcase Snowflake 1 Die  and a pretty stamped snowflake from Flurries.  Do you see it?   I simply took the matting layer and laid one across the other like a ‘+’, I thought that was pretty spiffy.  Never one to exercise restraint, I did it again, so my bordering layer consists of 4 matting layer outlines all crisscrossed like an “*” asterisk you can see the progression below.

www.amazingpapergrace.com - making a border with Pretty Panels #1
I used the Stitched Tags Die Set for my sentiment and cut a notch out of the end.  The gorgeous round die is a new die from Spellbinders called Spellbinders Royal Circle.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps Waltzingmouse Stamps – Flurries, Snowflake 1 Die, Pretty Panels #1, Stitched Tags Die Set
Paper: Neenah Classic Crest, Natural White, Smooth 80 lb Cardstock, Kraft Paper,
Ink: Versamark and cream embossing powder
Accessories: Spellbinders Royal Circle, Recollection Pearls, May Arts Silk Ribbon

This adorable little elf was too cute not to make up a quick box and stamp him on a tag.  He’s from the Elf Made set and there are a bunch of stamps that will work for your little ones and big little ones – if you know what I mean.  I stamped and embossed the snowflake from Flurries onto a gable box and stamped the elf on the largest tag from the Stitched Tags Die Set.  All in all, ready to go in less than 10 :-)

    Becca,
Lovely card, my dear. Why do we associate blue and white with winter. I guess because when we get cold, cold, cold, we turn blue. LOL It does just go together, though. Have a wonderful day!!

Thanks for your beautiful work Becca. So look forward to your emails to see your new work.
Could you please tell me what brand of glue or tape do you use for your card making. I use a tape but find that after about 12 months the cards fall a part using the tape . Some cards I make are for special occasions like the birth of a grandchild and I want them to last.
    God bless you each day.

    Good evening Becca,
These two cards are beautiful, hard to choose between them but, for me, I think the 2nd one just pips it to the post.
It’s late here in the U.K. (almost midnight) and we’ve been to a ceilidh in aid of cancer research. It was brilliant and some dancers from the show “Riverdance” and “Lord of the Dance” previewed their new show and danced for us. They stayed for the ceilidh and joined in with the ordinary dances. How great is that?
Also, this morning we went to a 100th birthday party for an aunt, who was in great form and very funny, so all in all it’s been a wonderful day for us.
Becca, have a lovely and blessed Sunday, xxReplyCancel

Fall Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design How Beautiful Leaves Grow Old and Spellbinders Oval Bliss and Sparkle
Good morning sweet friends.  I’ve been diligently producing Christmas cards left and right and I looked up for a moment to be mindful that the seasons seem to be flying by (except summer, summer lasts forever).  I don’t think I’ve savored a fall more delicious than the one we’re in right now.  Although the leaves aren’t changing here yet, the air is crisp and the sky seems bluer with frothy clouds that  tumble through the sky without the threat of rain.  Yep, it’s fall and today I’m sharing a sweet fall sentiment from Quietfire Design called How Beautifully Leaves Grow Old.

Fall Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design How Beautiful Leaves Grow Old and Spellbinders Oval Bliss and Sparkle

I have to be honest folks, I’d be hard pressed to find a great orange in my stash.  But fall has browns and golds with the tips of leaves colored with a splash of purple or or yellow.  I’m sharing a card with an awesome pairing of  Spellbinders Oval Bliss and Spellbinders Sparkle topped with Spellbinders Classic Ovals LG and embellished with Spellbinders Moroccan Accents.

Here’s how I made it – step by step:

  1. Start out with a 5-1/2″ x 7-1/2″ card base.  (Card base is made with two pieces of 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″‘ paper scored and glued as in this Hinge Video.)
  2. Mat a 5-1/8″ x 6-3/4″ piece of cream cardstock with gold cardstock cut to 5-1/4″ x 7-1/4″
  3. Mat a 6-5/8″ x 4-1/2″ piece of design paper with gold cardstock cut to 4-5/8″ x 6-3/4″ adhere to previous layers with two layers of foam tape.
  4. Place ribbon and lace across card and two matted layers horizontally and tape on backside.  Adhere to card base with two layers of foam tape.
  5. Cut/emboss Spellbinders Oval Bliss and attach with two layers of foam tape.
  6. Cut/emboss Spellbinders Sparkle, adhere to card base, add two pearls.
  7. Cut/emboss Spellbinders Classic Ovals LG and stamp sentiment, distress with Brushed Corduroy Ink.
  8. Trace around outside of oval with Krylon Gold Leafing Pen
  9. Adhere oval to card base using two layers of foam tape.
  10. Glue a bow embellished with flowers and leaves to the right side of oval
  11. Cut one corner with Spellbinders Moroccan Accents, adhere to card and add pearl.
CRAFT SUPPLIES I USED
Rubber StampsQuietfire Design called How Beautifully Leaves Grow Old
Craft Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Natural White – 80 lb smooth, Gold, Prima – Stationers Desk

By the way, I noticed Suzanne at Quietfire is running 20% off on stamps right now – I hope you’ll pop by and see if there’s anything that tickles your fancy.  In the meantime, enjoy your week and thanks so much for stopping by!

    Another stunning card!
Enjoy the lovely fall days, Becca! Autumn is well and truly here in the UK and the colours are glorious. We have had some lovely mild days, but with the tail end of the hurricane, there is a definite chill in the air and the grass is damp. But I am still picking my autumnal raspberries – yellow in colour (so the birds don’t notice them so much!) and seedless. Everything is still in full bloom, but maybe not for much longer. Our clocks go back this weekend, so winter is well and truly just around the corner!

Great card – love the sentiment and adore that oval. I am currently trying to finish off 7 bday cards using the watercolour technique background card I made – although I didn’t really like my watercolour efforts when you cut them up and mount them on black – hey presto – they dont look bad – It’s a miracle of sorts me thinks – will send you a foto when they are finished – 2 down 5 to go! That will then sort all the Bday cards needed till 2015 so I can focus on Christmas – I’ve also used sequins on them and they are a great tone on tone embellishment – I didn’t cover the holes up as you can hardly see them and a tiny weeny pearl just didn’t look right I thought. Thanks for sharing and inspiring as you always do.ReplyCancel

Hi Becca. Beautiful card and lovely sentiment.
I love the gorgeous colours that Autumn brings, but I don’t like the colder weather and the darker days : ) Take care.ReplyCancel

    Good morning Becca,
What a beautiful card and the leaves, well they are exquisite in their colours. The Sparkle border on top of the Bliss oval looks so lovely that you wouldn’t know that it could turn into the hugger at the top and bottom of the oval. So pretty and different, thank you Becca,
    Love and crafty hugs

An amazing card. I love the look of burlap along side the elegant touches. I really love the extra that the Sparkle die cuts make. Thanks for sharing your creativity.ReplyCancel

I guess I’m late because unlike Mary before me, I usually reply within the first 10-15 bloggers. This is beautiful and I guess no one uses orange very much – except for Halloween. I love, love love the oval bliss dies and will have to put them on my want list. We just came back from a “foliage” trip to North Carolina (Cherokee) on Sunday and the leaves were getting really pretty!

    Hi Becca,
Just surfacing again after 5 deaths (3 very good friends and sister and niece) plus having to have my lovely cat put to sleep (I know she was a good age but it’s so heartbreaking – but I didn’t abandon her).
Your card is lovely (as is your previous post), I hope you are enjoying life a bit more now and that every day will bring sweet memories and a smile remembering.
    Hugs, RoseReplyCancel

Becca, awesome techniques used hope to apply that to some of my creations one day. Is the Becca bow maker still available? I could really use one, poor ole fingers just can’t make pretty bows any more. Glad to hear u are doing well, miss seeing ya.ReplyCancel
