Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Victorian Medallion Three - www.amazingpapergrace.com
One more short post to cap off the week :-)  This is a card that I had on my work board that I finished up and wanted to share that uses Spellbinders Victorian Medallion Three, Spellbinders A2 Divine Eloquence and Spellbinders Twisted Metal Tags and Accents.  The sweet stamp is from my stash of Wordsworth from the Hugo Collection.

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Victorian Medallion Three - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Thanks for all your sweet words of encouragement this week!  I’m so grateful for the community of stampers and crafters that so graciously give the gift of their time to visit – it really means a lot to me.   Oddly, with the world stretched out before me, I’ve found such comfort in my surroundings and have unbelievably become a homebody; being settled is so good for my soul :-)   Very often, the company for the day is the kind word I see on my blog and Instagram; it’s like a sweet morsel, it is dessert,  it is enough, I couldn’t ask for more and again I’m compelled to tell you how grateful I am.  Don’t worry, even if you don’t leave comments, I thank you still because I feel your sweet spirit.  I leave you with a quick snap of the wonderful calendar I have on my desk to greet me each morning – it so inspiring.

Becca Calendar Page
Please tuck that away in your mental file folder and pull it when you need it :-)  Isn’t that just a glorious thought?

I know just what you mean, Becca. Real or imagined, this electronic world provides us with so much support. I choose to see it as a real connection between hearts and minds that we are blessed to have at the touch of a few buttons. I never realized how many people were visiting my site until I checked the stats quite by accident one day. Only a small portion of them commented so I had no idea how many there were. It was a small joy to learn that. Hopefully, you see the numbers of us who visit consistently but only comment occasionally, too. Additionally, I have been following you for about 5 years and have seen every post; went all the way back to the very beginning to see what I had missed and then check out every new post. I still struggle to see things the way you do that makes your creations so fabulous. There is a rare vision for these things in your mind and it is a special creative gift that can only be partially duplicated with great effort by those who don’t have it. Create on, lovely lady.ReplyCancel

Thank you Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Gate Element - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Sweet friends, I promise that I’m going to set aside this die after this card goes out. After a week of using Spellbinders Gate Element, I can’t tell you how many times I cut that one die.  When I was finished with the series, I probably had 30 diecuts left over.  It just so happens that after going to CHA, I have a number of Thank You cards to get into the mail.  I know myself too well and if I hold out and make unique cards, it will take me forever. If I go ahead and make similar cards, I can get it done pretty quickly. With the leftover diecuts from this week I started playing around and came up with this design that is very similar to the Victorian Fans I’ve made over the years and the latest I made HERE and the folded flower I made back in 2010, HERE.  They were my inspiration for a simple two diecut thank you card using eight of the die cut leftovers.  Each die cut was folded in the center the each side folded to the center again – essentially into quarters.  I stapled the end of each piece then hot glued them to a small circle in the center. For the tag I used Spellbinders Back to Basic Tags.
Thank you Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Gate Element - www.amazingpapergrace.com
The card measures 5″ x 7″ and is being sent in the clear box so I won’t have to worry about the filigree getting crushed.  I have a several more to make, and to keep things easy, they will all be a variation of this design.  No worries about the clear box, HERE is the last card I sent that way and it arrived in pristine condition!

Thanks for your never ending encouragement this week.  I’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting crafty and hope that if you found anything useful in my work this week, that you’ll put it to good use.  Sending you blessings, as always!

Question Parking Lot:

Many of you asked where I get my clear boxes.  The answer is I have a large steel rule die that cuts those boxes and I buy the acetate in bulk – I have had it for years and years and made that purchase because my bulk use of the boxes made it make sense.  The clear plastic I’m using is quite heavy .02″ in thickness.  Here are two options that are much more cost effective than the acetate I’ve been using:

Amazon.com – minimum quantity is 10 – these are clear top only but will give the same result
Clearbags.com – minimum quantity is 25 – these all clear

I’ve heard people use the latter for sending through USPS with no problem, but in all honestly I’ve not used this brand myself.  Hold on tight though, I’ll message clearbags and ask for a sample and will let you know the result.  I’ve seen their brand on many of the Papercrafting/Stamping Online stores.

Like D.Ann, I too wonder where you get card size clear boxes?
This is truly awesome and actually pretty simple, even though it does look simple!! I love doing duplicates where the receipents will not see what someone else gets. After putting together the first one, things go so much easier for the rest. LOL

Your card creations are simply sweet and beautiful. I so appreciate your sharing the different places to purchase our craft products. Referring to the clear boxes to mail our more bulky creations, the price of shipping caught my attention! Here’s what I found:

I found the shipping for Clearbags 25 minimum order boxes would be $11.99 plus $4.00 fee, while the cost of the product is only $15.25. Oh my goodness. Amazon”s price about the same but the cost to ship was 7.95 if not a Prime member.ReplyCancel

  • Linda ClarkJanuary 29, 2015 - 11:47 am

Becca, Oh how fortunate Spellbinders are to have you as a designer!! I am sure they are aware of that, but I just have to tell you as well…. I just went to Spellbinders site to look at the “Gate Element” die and I have to be honest, had I not seen your card, I would not have purchased that die!! I would not have said anything that beautiful was made from that die!! Your vision amazes me. When I look at that die I think “A steel gate?” What could I do with that? I can tell you that I do want to buy that die now!! You do such a wonderful job!! Your talent “inspires” me to try to make a card as elegant as yours. It does not come close but I enjoy trying. You are always singing everyone’s praises and we are the ones that are benefiting from your work. As always, thank you ever so much for sharing your talents with all of us. Bi Hugs, LindaReplyCancel

One Box, Three Occasions by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Gate Element - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Good morning sweet friends! Today is the final day of the series One Box, Three Occasions; the occasion I chose to highlight today is a Birthday.  Well, not just a birthday, a birthday for a little, little girl.  I had to do it!  So often I pull something from my stash for my little friends but today I decided I would make a custom box (not what it appears to be) that is definitely for a wee one and designed to hopefully bring a smile.    At first glance todays samples seem much like yesterdays – I created a soft pink card using Spellbinders Antique Corner (cut four times) and built up with Spellbinders Labels Thirty Nine followed by Spellbinders Fleur de Elegance and finally JustRite Vintage Labels Seven.  A tad on the elegant side but this card was 30 minutes from start to finish and is easy, classic layers.  The finished card size is 5-1/2″ square.  If you are intrigued as I am with boxes and want to know how to make the original box – instructions can be found on this post: https://www.amazingpapergrace.com/one-box-three-occasions-day-1/

WRBF-4574-2015
I decided to go easy on the embellishments; I know I wouldn’t have any problem mailing this out!  The silk bow and ribbon roses compress quite a bit to a flat profile although I never have a problem with the larger bows and flowers I use (creative packing :-)).

WRBF-4575-2015
If you look closely, my box looks different.  It is :-) It’s made from mat board and it has a single thickness lid that I fashioned by scoring.  The box is 2-1/4″ square and 5″ tall.  Today I used Spellbinders Gate Elementt as a border and attached it directly to the box instead of the lid.  WRBF-4576-2015
Then the magic happens when the lid comes off, yikes – an explosion box with a little ballerina inside :-)  The ballerina is Spellbinders Tiny Dancers

WRBF-4577-2015
Spellbinders Labels Twenty Seven works “perfectly” as the four way hinge on the inside bottom to make the explosion box.  I simply scored Labels Twenty Seven on each of four sides, applied glue above the score line and attached to four matboard panels which were covered on front and back with design paper.  When I lift all of the four panels, their hinge brings them vertically into a box that can be capped with a simple top.  I decorated by gluing the gate element on the front and wrapping it around to the inside.  If you are feeling adventurous and want to try an explosion box, there’s an excellent resource HERE.  I cut the  2 tiny dancers from a cereal box weight chipboard because I wanted a sturdy base.  Then I cut again from cardstock and  glued over the chipboard.  I added lace as the skirt, ribbon as a top and a band of gold for a crown then glued the two sets of girls back to back so they look good from every angle.   Lastly I used Spellbinders Ribbon Banners to add Happy Birthday to the base of the box.

CRAFT SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Wordsworth – Birthday
Craft Paper
: Neenah Classic Crest Natural White – Smooth 80 lb,PTI Sweet Blush, K & Company – SW Floral Mat Pad
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: Spellbinders Labels Twenty Seven,  Spellbinders Antique CornerSpellbinders Labels Thirty Nine, Spellbinders Fleur de EleganceJustRite Vintage Labels Seven, Spellbinders Gate ElementSpellbinders Ribbon BannersSpellbinders Tiny Dancers, May Arts Silk Ribbon, Want2Scrap Pearls, Glossy Accents for adhesive, matboard, Offray Ribbon Roses, lace, Recollection Pearls

I’ve enjoyed each remake of the filigree box :-)  I did the series because I couldn’t choose just one and I thought the options were interesting.  One more card coming with the Gate Element die and then back up on the shelf it goes – it kept me occupied this week and I hope it gives you some ideas of what you can do with it!

Question Parking Lot:

Elaine Johnson on comment #3 asked me when the Tiny Dancer dies would be available.  They look to be available right now in the Spellbinders store – I clicked on them and they were placed in my cart :-).   I think what was not available were measurements because these two figures would be difficult to measure or the measurement has not been loaded yet.

I have always wondered why companies don’t make their products available all the time. With new crafters coming on the scene everyday, it would behove them to do so. I am so disappointed that the ballerina dies are not available. Will they be brought back anytime soon? Other than that, your box is exquisite< as usual. Every thing you do is top notch.ReplyCancel

    Hello Becca,
Another gorgeous offering from you. I’ve been in bed all week (still am) with the dreaded cold virus that seems to be everywhere. Tonight I crept out of bed and made the first box!! Oh I’m so pleased with it but, because funds are limited I used labels G for the top, and adapted a corner die instead of the gate.
I do hope you don’t mind but believe me, it’s beautiful, and I’ve just got the small cards to make to put inside. I may stamp inside half of them “Thank you” and leave the others blank to be used as gift cards. I’ll sleep on it!!!! Thank you once again for your inspiration xx.ReplyCancel
