Here is my first little Target mailbox! I made it last month but wanted to hold onto it to post when I got this blog ready. I stocked up on these babies because I can see a use for them with almost any occasion. On this particular one I left the flag blank so that I can personalize it depending on who I give it to. I made 10 just like this one to give to the stampingfriends I get to see each month month month month. I used cardstock and had absolutely no problem getting it to curve around. Do you like it? For some reason when I was trying to think up a name for my blog, this name came back to me time and time again. Amazing Grace is one of my favorite hymns and runs through my head astonishingly often. Layer on that the fact that my Grandmothers name was Amaza – soooo unique. Then recently I saw the movie, Amazing Grace, not knowing anything of what it was about. Let me tell you, if you have not seen it — you should — it’s a great movie. But more so I think the name means something to me because the past year of my life has been so very difficult. The grave sickness of a loved one has brought everything in my life into scrutiny. My faith has strengthened and grown beyond measure. Somewhere in the hustle of sickness and service, I began to lose myself – this is where crafts and stamping come in. It’s just a little piece of me that I want to save. After prayer, taking care of my husband and taking care of my family – this is what I need to do for me….to keep my head above the water. I’ve been a stamper for more than ten years, and I was basically a crafter at birth. All during my working years, I collected and collected and collected, always too busy to use the things I had purchased. My vow for this year is to use and enjoy the things that I have. LOL, that doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t get more but I want to use and savor the things that are right here under my nose. My hope is that this blog will help me be productive, inspire me to create, keep my hands busy so that I don’t stress over the things I can’t change and help me find ways to give everyday. My journey to being right here, right now, typing this first post is no mistake. Even it it’s just for me and no one in the world sees this…..it is a blessing.

    To think you started your blog in February of this year…..You are doing a super job. Hope the stresses are less and your loved ones are doing well. Stamping also got me through difficult times while caring for sick loved ones. It is such a portable craft. I was able to make many stamped items on the hospital window ledge. The view out the window also gave me encouragement during difficult times of waiting and staying near-by.

    Becca,

    You know how ever so often God sends just what you need, just when you need it? Well, I thank the Lord you letting me find your blog. This has been a difficult year in my life too. My mother was diagnosed with cancer right before Christmas last year and two months later my youngest son’s wife announced that she didn’t want to be married anymore (when their newborn daughter was only 3 months old). It has consumed so much of my time, that I find very little time for myself or my husband. I stopped crafting for about 8 months but thank you for your blog because I think the Lord has used it to let me know that it is OK for me to have some Me-Time without feeling so much guilt. Thank you so much!! Your projects are so beautiful and thank you also for teaching me new techniques! You have truly blessed my life.

    As I used to tell my husbands doctor – come the end of the world there will be time enough to sleep!

    It sounds like you have learned to bend with the winds and gather strength from God who shelters us more than we know.

    Crafts of one kind or another have carried me through many kinds of need. And I learned a long time ago in Hospice that it is never selfish for caregivers to take time to recharge their “giving” batteries and openess of heart leads to openess of spirit.

    After reading your entire blog, I see that our crafting paths are very similar. I too have been collecting for years and years. Whenever I’d purchase something, I’d say if I don’t use it now, I will when I retire. I retired in December and I am now beginning to use the embarassing amount of collected treasure. I’ve told myself I will not purchase another item until all have been used. I know that’s not going to happen, but happily, I am using many of the things I already have.

It is often when Christians suffer that we become more intimate with our Lord because He loves when we trust and depend on Him. I am sorry for all the pain that you went through, but am grateful to know that a Sister Friend in Christ was strengthened through surrender to the Lord.

    Why I haven’t clicked on this link before is beyond me because I try to read everything on your blog. It is through God’s Amazing Grace that I found your website. Last year was the worse year of my life, but through it all I found our Savior again and restored my faith. My husband was diagnosed with inoperable and incurable cancer due to Agent Orange and given less than a year to live, our basement flooded, I broke my leg and ankle 2 days before he was scheduled for surgery after his radiation treatments, my aunt that lived with us passed away, and it just goes on and on. If it hadn’t been for a friend introducing me to scrap-booking and card making I have no idea how I would have kept my sanity. Your blog was one of the first I found and I am so thankful for the inspiration, the confirmation of faith, and the beautiful work that you do. Thanks be to God that my husband is still with us and doing better for now.     I truly like the name. I am a crafter, but not so much a scrapbooker, greeting card maker, stamper. Although I have all the tools to create a lot of the latter, I can’t seem to get inspired to make anything. I look at the blogs, the websites with the beautiful greeting cards at cricut.com and wonder, how they come up with so many ideas. I have a Cricut Expression, paper, two cartridges, (maybe that’s it, I need more cartridges) and I really want the Cricut Design Studio and Sure Cuts a Lot software programs, but can’t afford them. I started out with floral arrangements, then jewelry making and now I have scrapbooking. I think I put toooooo much thought into making things and that’s why I get so discouraged. I need to wait for the inspiration from God to make the cards. Like I do with floral arrangements, He picks the flowers, the containers, how they are placed and what scripture verses to incorporate in them.ReplyCancel

    I too have had a rough two years, loss of my son in April, my husband

    has Parkinson’s, but like you I have many things purchased through

    the years and now I would love to get started. I love scrapbooking

    I left a response on your blog today re buying the Quietfire caligraphy stamps you have used this past week. Well I tried on their site but couldn’t complete the order form because I live in the UK.     Hi Becca,

    I just found your website and blog recently and am addicted! I wish I had the talent you have. Your cards are probably the prettiest I’ve ever seen.

    I love making cards and sending them to family, friends and the older ladies at church who are having health problems. I had two ladies from church call me after receiving their Christmas cards to tell me how much it means to them to open my cards and to know that I made their card especially for them. One of the ladies was even crying. I hated to hear her cry but it warmed my heart that it meant so much to her.

    I just read your blog about how you started back into crafting and card making. Whatever you situation was or still is, I pray God’s grace and mercy on you and your family.     I stumbled on your website awhile back – you are one of the most talented card makers I have seen. I, too, am a child of God. Your story is amazing and very encouraging to others. I’ve never left messages before but I see you have a game of sorts going on with name the best “crying movie” I really loved “Blind Side” There are many others – my best old movie is “To Sir With Love” I’m not sure if this is the right place to leave it…(I am also computer illiterate!)     Thank you for our testimony. I too have become a caregiver as my mom suffered a stroke and dementia has taken over her life. She came to live with me 3 years ago and my craft room has become her bedroom. My
    prayers go with you and you testimony has given me encouragement to
    continue to do my love for cardmaking while trying to keep depression from

    I have just found our blog and have fallen in love with it. I love the name. I also grew up singing Amazing Grace in church and has to be one of the prettiest songs I now.     After reading your introduction it was like reading about my own life for the last 3 years. Like you GOd has blessed me prior to the like changing illness i myself am living with so I have a craftroom more like a small craft store than a craftroom. Now I am able to play and use the items I have collected over the years+. I stmbled over your blogg quite by mishap some would say but we know it was God leading me where I need to be for this time in my life. I enjoy your examples and have been inspirered.     Becca, I have loved visiting your blog for quite a wee while now and I wanted to visit at the beginning. I’ll enjoy going through the lovely inspiring creations and uplifting thoughts from your blog through the years.
    Amazing Grace is one of my favourite hymns too, my mum loved it too.
    She was a beautiful singer and one of my earliest memories is of her singing along to this on the radio (Amazing Grace with the bagpipes) whilst doing housework. It was lovely. “The old rugged cross” was another favourite I always think of her singing when I hear it.
    My mum passed away in the Spring of 2005, now whenever I hear this
    I get very emotional & well up with tears, but it’s tears of happiness of the beautiful memories of my mum’s smile while she sang her heart out and the knowledge that our faith gives us strength, no matter what life may bring to us.
