Well it’s no secret that I love, love, love Impression-Obsession stamps and have quite a few in my stash. This week Stamper’s Dream is doing an Impression Obsession week with some of those lovely images. I am such a fan of Gary Robertson, the artist who does line art drawings for IO. I know I’m gushing but he must have had stampers in mind when drawing because he puts shading and hatch marks in just the right places that make it look like I know what I’m doing when I color it. In other words, it’s easy and and it looks like I made a fuss when I really didn’t. My image today is an Impression-Obsession image called Sunflower with Butterflies. For the picture below, if you click on it, the linked picture is very large and you will be able to see better.

Just like the tag says, I tried to keep life simple. I colored the image and went with a basic card design. I put a partial cut of Spellbinders™ Labels Eight on the bottom of the card to break up the print and seperate some of the pattern. I also added a simple Spellbinders™ Double Ended Tag for the rub on sentiment I used. I love the jute ribbon because it looks a little rustic. I threw the pearls in there to make things wacky. I love this image!! Next time it’s getting distressed.
Card Recipe:
Stamps: Courtesy of Stamper’s Dream – Sunflower with Butterflies
Paper: Lasting Impressions – Gardener’s Diary, Bazzill
Ink: Memento – Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Spellbinders™ Labels Eight, Spellbinders™ Double Ended Tag, Walmart Ribbon, Michaels Pearls, Copic Markers, Lasting Impression Rub On Sentiments
|
ETA: Copic Colors used will automagically (don’t let this word throw you, it’s real) appear here later this morning after I have had my coffee, ugh!!

Please be sure to visit the other Stamper’s Dream Designers that have special Impression-Obsession images to share with you. You’ll get an eye full when you visit Michelle Rodgers, Laurie Schmidlin and a wonderful new addition to the team!!
If you read down this far wanna know how much of a geek I am? Well, I have a little tidbit to share with you. I found the neatest blog the other night which has absolutely nothing to do with stamping. So often when I’m writing my own blog post I envision saying something I’d say in real life but then I wonder if people will think some of the idioms I use as odd. I google them and long story short, sometimes I get it right and sometimes I get it wrong, way wrong. Sometimes when I go back and read what I’ve written I wonder if people know I’m a college educated woman, lol. The site I found was Grammar Girl. I sat and read and read and read. It’s a testimony to my geekiness how excited I got about this site. I even texted my daughter to tell her about it . The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree – I’m a stickler at spelling (except mine – **smart alecky grin**), and she’s a stickler about correct usage and correct pronunciation with emphasis on the correct syllable. Are you rolling your eyes yet? I’m not perfect, but I cringe when I see a professional sign with misspelled words (yep, in this day and age of the spellchecker).
Well if you made it this far, I think you deserve a prize!! So my regular readers (whom I love dearly) ignore my grammar, but there is a misspelling in this blog post, somewhere. If you already picked it up, you probably thought I was crazy for spouting off about misspellings! If you can find it and email me at my contact page – the first three of you will get one of those cute unfinished little clipboards that I used yesterday to make THIS. If you are one of the three, I’ll email you back to get your address. Please know, I have been known to make mistakes so if I goofed and have more than one misspelling, I guess I’ll have to add another prize :-) ETA: All the clipboards are gone!

fabulous! thank you so much hugs
Good evening, Becca. Such a striking card- it’s really handsome. Men’s cards are such a pain to try to do :) but this fits the bill so nicely.
Beautiful! Why not ribbon and flowers for a man? I love it….
Thanks for sharing and have a happy Easter as you celebrate the”Risen Lord” and HIS Salvation gift to us…
This is so lovely, I agree a man can have a bow :)
WOW – what a stunning male card – the colours and details are soooo right – even the bow works!
Awesome job
xXx
Becca – After reading the inside quote, I thought it applied to you today as well…lol! God knew this stamp and paper were being made some time ago, and He knew your talent would follow the steps he had planned for you for this. And, since every man has “some” feminine side to him even if he won’t admit it, the bow adds to this card in just the right way. Keep up the good work now that you’ve gotten over your stage fright. Terrific job as ALWAYS!
You never cease to amaze me!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Becca!
Your man card is beautiful. I love that scripture.
I was curious as to the flower. I love it and wondered if you had made it or not. The colouring is lovely and matches the card beautifully.
The DP is gorgeous and I love how you did the tag inside.
Happy a wonderful blessed Easter.
Hugs Marion
This is gorgeous Becca, I put flowers on my husbands cards all the time, but never a bow and you have just changed my mind, he will start getting flowers and a bow. This would work for a man at Christmas time too. Happy Easter, to you and your family. As always, Becca, TFS!!! :-)
Both cards are very pretty, but like the 2nd one without the bow for a man better. Just my opinion. Edna
this card is gorgeous. when i was opening this i wondered if some ribbon would appear and … poof there it was. i sometimes wish you didn’t have so many cool tools. you know i “Need” them all. my shoppeing list never seems to grow shorter. how is that? keep the cards coming and don’t feel too guiltly. hey you might be stimulating the economy!
What a wonderful card for DAD! Flowers and ribbon work when the colours and verse are right. You couldn’t have chosen better!
Looking forward to more male cards from you, Becca.
Happy Easter – hugs, Candy
Sweet Edna…that one that you liked is the inside of the card….quite a beauty isn’t it? And, I’d imagine that you could indeed see that as a complete card front. Awesome art, Becca. I love it when something you make touches my heart in a special way and you DID it with this.
Thank you!
Becca,
Beautiful job.
Happy Easter,
~~Diane~~
Beautiful card. Love the new stamps from ODBD. Have a Blessed Easter.
Fabulous man cards!! I know my husband doesnt mind a bow.
Wowwwww! Outta the park, girl! LOOOOOVE this!
This card is great and I have to make sure I buy that set! Have a blessed Easter.
Becca –
All I can say is “BEAUTIFUL”! Have a wonderful and Blessed Easter!

To take the bow away is just cruel and unusual punishment! Thats your trademark Becca!!! If you are afraid of bows on masculine cards, try using a thinner ribbon. Thats what I do for my masculine cards. I was challenged to make a birthday card for a co-worker, male of course, and I knew his favorite color was red, no problem but I do everything girly, duh! I searched my stash, and came across a Paper Studio stack in 8 by 8. Perfect! I thumbed through and found a black and white argyle pattern. I used that as my mat punched butterflies out with my ms butterfly punch in plain black card stock and embossed them with irridesent embossing power. I doodled a flight path and glued the butterflies on and added a thinner red ribbon on top for a pop of color! He absolutely loved it!!! It was definitely a challenge because I knew only that he liked red. Well, I’m off the make hubby a birthday card for tomorrow. He loves ice cream and cheese cake, HUMMM!
Those are wonderful cards for a man. In fact they are the best male cards I have seen! These cards just prove your “magic fingers” can do great male cards too. Most designers have some great cards , and some bland looking cards , but ALL of your cards are great. In the year I have been visiting your blog I can’t recall one bland looking card that you have made. Not one! You are Amazing
It’s beautiful Becca! Any man who appreciates art would LOVE this! A wonderful and blessed Easter to you and your family!
This is gorgeous for a man’s card!! :)
I am liking the way you used the On the Vine Border with the Prima Flower. The colours are great. It’s not a traditional male card (fishing poles, hammer and saw) – it’s WAY BETTER! :-) Happy Easter!
Simply Stunning Becca!!!
This is so pretty…..I just love it….beautiful paper….Happy Easter……
I love the colors of this card and that paper! I think that bow just makes it too pretty for the Dads in my life. It would be great for Mom! : ) I really like what you did with the inside, that by itself is a great card for a Dad! Men do enjoy and grow flowers so why not have a floral pattern, esp with the earthy colors, its great!
Hey! That is a yummy one as ever…… Could I ask u for a favor???? Would u please help me with directions to make a simple yet elegant bow like you make……. It looks kinda PERFECT!!!!! But if u could help me with any basic….. I will try & improvise…… PLEASE!!!! I tried but have not succeeded till date…… And I always admire your works of perfection..those elegant bows……. :-)
Ash….
Most of the older men in my family are into their gardening and this kind of card would work well for that kind of man as it does have floral paper but all of the colour scheme is very…like you say – earthy.
You’ve definitely pulled this off with style :)
Perfect!
Becca – Only you can make a beautiful masculine card. Oh, how I avoid doing them! You make it seem much easier.
Beautiful cards! lots of thought and work went into them, and it shows. but no bows! not for men
Easter Blessings to you and yours :)
Susan
Gorgeous card Becca – lovely colours. More items on my ‘wish list’!!!
Your talent knows no bounds.
Happy Easter to you and your family.

Outstanding is all I can say! Love the bow and so does my DH. Can’t imagine you hiding from any kind of design challenge, your inspiration is endless. Blessing to you. TFS
Beautiful and inspiring. Becca, I so admire you. If I could only have access to one teacher, it would be you-no contest. I wish they paid artists like they pay football players and actors. You are worth millions. Thanks for everything and God Bless you and yours.
I love the beautiful work you shared today – like always! I am also inspired to now use my new paper from that pad which has the dogwood flowers….such beautiful work!! Love your cards!
