Hi there blog friends!  We’re at the cusp of a year ending and a year beginning and I want to get started the right way.  I hinted around that I would have blog candy, and I will, but I just wanted to give you a preview of what’s up for grabs.  I’ll have a post sometime after my midnight tonight (United States Central Time) on January 1st, but I hope you’ll take a second to stop by and read the details and enter.  This will be my largest blog candy to date and like my Dad used to say about the lottery – you gotta enter or play to win!

Here’s what I’ll be giving away:

  • Norah McPheeDecember 31, 2013 - 3:41 pm

    Good evening Becca,
Flower i think you have made a mistake because when i clicked on the little bit it went to an Artisan Explorer cutting machine. For myself what a wonderful prize if it is correct , if not a doesn’t really matter, just the thought of actually winning even a a card would send my heart into overdrive. I love todays card that you have made. It’s not fancy with all the glitz and frills but it is serenely lovely. Sorry if that sounds rude, i do not mean to be but i hope you know what i mean. Sometimes the words does and says everything and it can be very simple words, but they get it right.
I hope you have a fantastic Hogmannay( i’m Scots so we have Hogmannay) and even better 2014. Thank you for all your beautiful work and talent that you have share with us and look forward to learning more.
    Love and crafty hugs
    Norah (Central Scotland)ReplyCancel

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using JustRite Papercraft Just A Note Vintage Sentiment Tags
Hey there friends!  I have another card to show today and although it has a bow, it’s a teensy bit on the masculine side with masculine colors, kraft paper, a little bit of distressing and no pearls.  I get many requests for masculine cards and have to admit that it’s the type of card I make the least.  I love to shower my kids with an occasional card out of the blue, so this one is meant for my sweet son.  I talked to him on the phone yesterday and am so impressed with how he has grown into a young, respectful man.  He’s far enough away that he escapes my constant worry and advice yet his head is on so straight – amazing how that happens.
Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using JustRite Papercraft Just A Note Vintage Sentiment Tags (closeup)
I always jump at the chance to use an embossing folder so I pulled out Spellbinders Numbers and Letters – it fit into the theme so well.  On top of that I layered Spellbinders Decorative Labels Eight and Spellbinders Filigree Delight.  I finished off with Spellbinders Back to Basics Tags.

CRAFT SUPPLIES I USED
Rubber Stamps: JustRite Papercraft – Just A Note Vintage Sentiment Tags
Craft Paper: Coordinations, Neenah Classic Crest Natural White (80 lb), Kraft
Ink: Amuse – French Roast, Versafine Onyx Black

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design - My Idea of a Perfect Christmas and Spellbinders
Hi there blog friends.  As much as we can’t wait for Christmas to come, can we please put on the brakes for just a minute?  I got up to Thanksgiving and the wheels came off…I’ve been travelling much of the last three weeks and am thankful to slow down and savor the sounds and feelings of Christmas.  That’s the blessing behind the little crafts we like to do – while we’re in the process of making and creating, it’s so nice to think about the recipient (and hum along to Christmas carols).  I took a moment to sit down and create another Christmas card with a sweet new set from Quietfire Design called My Idea of a Perfect Christmas.  The background is created using Spellbinders Botanical Swirls and Accents.  It’s topped off with Spellbinders Captivating Squares and Spellbinders Classic Squares LG.
Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design - My Idea of a Perfect Christmas and Spellbinders (closeup)
Here’s your Step By Step Recap of die cuts and layers, from the bottom up:   Start out with a Card Base  7-1/2″ tall by 5-1/2″ wide (or see how to make that size with the Hinge Technique HERE), foam tape, red matting layer cut to 7″ x 5″, design paper layer cut to 6-7/8″ x 4-7/8″, foam tape, die cut layer using Botanical Swirls on all four corners of card, foam tape, die cut layer using Captivating Squares, foam tape, die cut layer using Classic Squares LG.   As always, cut everything first, then stack.  Position ribbon, and bow on correct layer, admire, then glue!

CRAFT SUPPLIES I USED
Rubber Stamps: Quietfire Design – My Idea of a Perfect Christmas
Craft Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Natural White, Papertrey Red, Recollections Botanical Noel
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
AccessoriesSpellbinders Botanical Swirls and AccentsSpellbinders Captivating Squares, Spellbinders Classic Squares LG, Recollection Pearls, His & Hers Satin, Button, Recollections Gems, Grand Calibur Die Cut Machine

Cheers to you and I hope the holidays are filling you with the spirit of the season.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  I’m working on lots of new stuff in the background – stay tuned.

What a lovely, dressy card, with a very sweet sentiment. Some lucky friend or family will be thrilled. Glad you’re back. I missed you. The big day is almost upon us and of course, we’re running behind schedule. At least, here in the frozen north land of Quebec, Canada, that’s seems to be the way. But we always seem to catch up and have a wonderful Christmas. In case you don’t post between now and then, have a very Merry & Blessed Christmas. And again, thanks for all your fabulous posts. You are appreciated.ReplyCancel

  • Norah McPheeDecember 18, 2013 - 2:47 am

    Good morning Becca,
What a beautiful card you have made and i have everything except the patterned paper but i’ll substitute another for it. such a pretty card but i can’t tell you what is the best part as it all is. The corner die makes a beautiful rectangle with an aperture in the middle. The red of the card and the ribbon is a beautiful rich red so gives it a luxury, opulent look as opposed to a bright red which would ruin the whole card.
Looking forward to what you have in store for us.
The best part of this time is having time to go up to the big cities and into the shopping centers (malls) not to buy but look at all the beautiful lights and displays that make it a sight worth seeing. Go by public transport so you don’t have the hassle of trying to find a parking place. Then take your time looking at all the wonders that they have designed, have a cuppa and relax watching the world go bye. Enjoy. After spending a bit relaxing even if its just for half a day, its amazing what is acheiveable.
    Have a great time
    Love and crafty hugs
