Speaking of Pincushions . . . I realized that I had not shared this one with you.  I made it during my tenure on the Dirty Dozen and can share it on my blog now.  Just in case you didn’t know . . . I love to knit and do quite a bit of felting.  Once you are hit by the felting bug there’s little hope.  What happened for me is that I was doing small felting projects like purses then started looking for way to bring that wonderful texture over onto my cards.  Fast forward to the present time, about once a month I hit the Goodwill store and pick up sweaters that are 100% wool.  When I get them home, I put them in the washer and dryer (separately, and in a pillowcase) and felt them right up.  Oh my word, that felting cuts like butter under steel rule dies.  I pull out some of my old Sizzix Steel Rule Dies and go to town.

So my pincushion is made from old sweaters!   When I saw this cute cupcake made by Betz White, I knew I had to make one.  It was just the icing on the cupcake to cut flowers from the same felted fabric and make a matching card.

Project Supplies:
Stamps:  Inkadinado
Paper:  140lb Strathmore Watercolor Paper, Marcell Kay (Monkey Around), K & Co. (SeaGlass), Bazzill, The Paper Co (Solar White)
Ink:  Black Brilliance
Accessories: Spellbinders Standard Circle Small, Labels Four, Sizzix Flowers, Ribbon, Pearls, Tombow Markers, Copic ABS

Stay warm friends!  By the way, guess who’ll be celebrating 27 years of wedded bliss on December 4th?  Me!!  My sweetie pie is under the weather, but it won’t keep me from giving him a great big juicy smacker!

Congratulations on 27 years, Becca. It was 28 for me this year. Love your cupcake project! I’ve also been known to felt. I spin and weave and have occasionally felted the resulting fabric. On one occasion totally by accident! That was NOT a happy felting moment. Your creations are always inspirational! Thanks for sharing them with us.

    Becca,
I love to felt also and have made the cupcake pincushions. They are just so cute. Do you felt from scratch using wool roving? I love doing this rather than knitting first then felting. For me that takes too long since I’m a slow knitter. I scour the 2nd hand shops for wool sweaters also. I also beg everyone for their “holey” and spotted sweaters. People are amazed that you can do such beautiful projects with them. I haven’t used the dies yet. Thanks for the tip.

Hi there!!  Today marks another fabulous JustRite Stampers Blog Hop.  Today we are sharing gift ideas using JustRite.  I have an altered item to share with you today and something that will hopefully come in handy for the crafter.  Using JustRite Tiny Words Borders and Centers I created a set of pincushions using canning jars and with JustRite Preserves Borders and Centers I put together a tote to cover and carry them.
Here is the whole set stored and ready to put away. :-)

Here are the pincushions themselves, they contain buttons and perle cotton plus pins.  They were made using little canning jars I purchased at the Container Store.

Here are the  pincushions in their tote around caddy.  When finished the lid can just be put over them and back on the shelf they go.

Are you surprised to see a recipe box?  The recipe box makes the caddy.  This one was purchased for $1.00 at Michaels.  I turned it over, covered it with paper then added the handle :-)

Project Recipe:
Stamps:
JustRite Tiny Words Borders and CentersJustRite Preserves Borders and Centers
Paper:  K & Co, The Paper Company

Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories:  Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Ovals Large, Spellbinders Classic Ovals Large, Spellbinders Standard Circles Large, Spellbinders Petite Scalloped Circles Small, Fabric (5" circle), two canning jars (mine were Quattro Stagioni – 0,15l), Lace, Recipe Box, Hot Glue Gun, Stuffing, For Inside Containers – Buttons, pins, perle cotton

Be sure to see what the other designers have up their sleeves.  You will not want to miss these locations on the hop!

Hello there!!  Thanks for sticking with me even through this sporadic posting :-)  I’m recharging my batteries and have a couple of things on the back burner however in the meantime, I want to share another project that I’ve not been able to show on my blog.  This also was a project shared during my tenure with the Dirty Dozen;  it’s a Notecard Kit with an altered box.

Very simply I purchased this wooden box at Hobby Lobby, disassembled and spray painted then reassembled after I applied the paper.   I also added those funky feet :-).  It contains some simple note cards, envelopes, stamps and such.  I have hoarded this paper since I puchased it but used all those scraps I couldn’t bear to part with on the envelopes.

Project Recipe:
Stamps: PSX (retired)
Paper: Paper Loft – Grandma’s Attic
Ink: Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink

Accessories: Martha Stewart Punch, Spellbinders Antique Tag

Thanks for stopping by!!
