Hello Friends!  Thanks for the sweet comments coming in behind the scenes to check on me.  I’m fine and actually have a card to share with you today.  The sentiment is from one of the December releases for Our Daily Bread Designs from the His Gift set and I love that it wishes all good things – just as I wish to you all.  As is often the case, I was playing around with this Spellbinders Scalloped Edge Frame and started to thread the ribbon through the loops.  The whole effort turned into a kind of Rubic’s Cube.  There didn’t seem to be any way to solve it and then the next time I looked it was done.  In this case I started weaving, got confused, had a mess and then all of a sudden it was right.  Don’t ask me how I did it – I don’t know if I can ever do it again but I’m sure gonna try.

After weaving in all the ends I secured the ribbon on each corner with a convenient pearl.   Then I layered on lace and velvel and popped up each layer with dimensional tape, finishing with a Prima flower.  I love using Spellbinders Fancy Tags for embellishment so I layered it behind my sentiment.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs
Paper:  DCWV, Bazzill
Ink:  Versamark Onyx Black
Accessories:  Spellbinders Scalloped Edge Frame, Spellbinders Fancy Tags, Pearls, Ribbon, Velvet, Lace

 Stay warm and cozy!!

  • JeriDecember 23, 2009 - 1:02 am

Love, love, love this card but I did get a chuckle out of your description of how you did the weaving on this card. Well, a few years ago I was into making these cards using Carl punches that were kind of lacey looking with a lot of cutouts on them. You had to line them up just so and then you had to weave ribbon through the openings to create these woven masterpieces. Well, on just about all of them, I’d work forever weaving these things and have this huge mess and just about the time I’d want to stomp on them and light them on fire out of frustration…..TA-DA! I’d have the most awesome woven card you’ve seen. Couldn’t figure out how it would work out, it just did.

Thank you for all your hard work and all the inspiration you provide. Here’s to a very Merry Christmas and a very creative new year!ReplyCancel

How many of you remember this stencil I used last month?  Here I’ve pulled it out and made it into a tag to match my card below, but there’s a neat story to go along with the stencil now!  So many people emailed to ask the origin of the stencil and I was not completely sure.  I thought it was a Dreamweaver stencil but confirmed it with several people who still had the original packaging.  In addition, I was contacted by Dreamweaver to confirm the product number (LG608) and such.

So here’s the very pleasant surprise – Dreamweaver has remanufactured this particular stencil and it’s available for purchase.  What?  How cool is that?  Heavens, I had people calling my house to try to locate this stencil (no names mentioned here to protect the enabled *wink*).  Well pine no more – go get it while the getting’s good!!
I’ve been in the middle of this card for longer than I care to admit . . . happy to finally share it with you.  The sentiment ranks among my very favorite and was truly the inspiration for me to dig out the stencil that I’ve had in my stash for many years.  The lovely hand penned saying, Sleeping Under a Quilt, is one of the new releases by Quietfire Design.   In fact, if you’re getting the stamp, Suzanne may have the stencil on order – just ask on the ordering page.

After inking up the stencil with Chalk Ink, I ran it through my Wizard with the same sandwich I use for embossing nesties- both white master mats and the tan mat.  That presses the ink onto paper and gives a raised area where there are holes.   I layered vellum on top of the quilt and framed it with one of my favorite Spellbinders Frameabilities, Classic Frame.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Quietfire Design – Sleeping Under A Quilt
Paper:  K & Co., The Paper Company, Cordinations, Bazzill Swiss Dots
Ink:  Colorbox Chalk Ink – Pink Pastel
Accessories:  Spellbinders Classic Frame, Dreamweaver LG608, Ribbon, Pearls

Brrrr . . . as cold as it is these days, I’ll bet many of you are sleeping under quilts.  I still have one that my grandmother made for me when I was about 10 years old.  Yep, that’s one old quilt, but it surely is a blanket of love :-)  Stay warm friends!
