I’m so lucky to have spent some time on this wonderful design team stamping for my sweet friend Michelle with Stampers Dream.  She invited me back as an alumni to hop with her awesome team of designers and I absolutely jumped at the chance!!  Michelle has the most enchanting web store called Stampers Dream and she carries everything that’s hot right now!!  When I was on the team it was relentless enabling I tell you . . . I spent hours pouring over the papers and all the different brands and genres of stamps she sells.  So, Michelle sent me an image to play with recently and I think she was reading my posts about how I’ve come down with a sweet case of Spring Fever and find myself outside when perhaps I should be getting some housework done (big grin)!!

I decided to make an ensemble for a friend.  Since it is gardening weather and everyone is talking about being outside and planting flowers, I made this little tote box  and put seed packets inside.  The box is from Cricut from their Spring Holiday Cards Cartridge and it is roughly seven inches tall.  The box does not come with a flap but I added one with a strip of paper.  On the inside I added an acetate window.  I punched an oblong hole into the top so that I could insert lace for a tied bow.  While I was coloring my images, I colored two so that I could add this one to the front of the gift box. Isn’t this the coolest stamp?  Michelle stocks this image called The Potting Shed (psst…there are only a couple left). It is colored with Distress Reinkers and Tombow Markers.
For my card I kept it simple and layered on Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Rectangles.  I cinched the side with one of my easy peg bow and added some sweet pearls.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Stampers DreamThe Potting Shed by Impression Obsession
Paper
: Bazzill, K & Co.
Ink
: Stazon Black

Accessories
: Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Rectangles, ribbon, pearls, Cricut-Spring Holiday Cards, acetate

I hope you’ll hop around and take in the incredible work of all these talented designers.  Oh there is quite an incentive I understand – major, major, major blog candy.  The candy is hidden along the way and none of us know which designers have it.  In order to win, you’ll need to leave a comment on each designers blog.  The winners will be announced on the Stampers Dream Website on Sunday, February 27th.

Although there won’t be much gardening here this weekend. Another 20-30cm of snow forcast! I won’t be gardening outside for awhile yet! :(

    Becca,
I love that you made this using a cricut. I am surprised however, that you do not use it more. This is a faboulous project. I really love this little box, and that fact that it holds seed packets just really caught my eye. I only found a couple of cuts on this cart that I would use and this just happened to be one of them. But it sure made this project. I love to garden. But I must admit I usually just go to the nursery and by small plants and come home and plant. I am really impatient. I want to reap the rewards now not two years from now. But I do like bulbs and will plant those. Back to your project – it is just adorable. I love this stamp that you used. Perfect for any gardener. Thanks so much for sharing this.

Cleaning out my bedroom last week I came across this little snippet that I’ve held onto for several years.  It tickles me and I laugh inside every time I read it.  Because John spent a lot of time relaxing on the bed back in our bedroom, I tried to find things I could work on while he was there.   So, rather than tote my ironing board back there, I got this over the door one from Target.   Once I got it home I punctured the clear wrap to take it out and stopped cold when I read the label.  The year had been anything but easy so it came to us at a time that the quirky hope this little snippet offers was enough to make us stop and think.   It actually was a message I needed to hear on the day I heard it.  Funny thing tho’ – I’ve described this packaging to friends and told them to look at it while in the store and these days the packaging just says ironing board.  (Shrug!)

As I perched on the side of the bed I wondered what it would be like to have the wrinkles of yesterday vanish before my eyes.    Oh but to dream . . .  I’ll be back in the morning with a new post and if things work out right, a tutorial.  In the meantime . . . back to my rumpled up life, lol!!

Isn’t it amazing at how God places the words we need to hear at times when the wrinkles are there and seem like there is nothing that can make them go away. I praise God today for placing those words through a thing so simple as an ironing board and now on your blog. Those words are meant to touch all our lives with a special meaning today. Hi Becca:
I guess I’m one of those odd people that loves to iron. There’s something about running a hot steamy iron over crumpled fabric and watching it smooth out that just facinates me. The analogy on your ironing board packaging is fitting. I often iron in the living room while my husband watches TV so we can be together.
    Thanks for sharing…

What a great message. I have always enjoyed ironing…it’s always been therapeutic…just like the label says…you are removing the wrinkles of yesterday and making it new again…I love passing a hot iron on a wrinkled shirt and watching all the wrinkles go away…such a great lesson for life.

I used an analogy similar to that once when I was having a rough time…got some bad news…life was changing…I woke up the next morning and it had snowed…mind you it doesn’t snow in my parts…about once every ten years if that. When I saw the snow I knew it was a message from God…that the snow was wiping away all the bad so I could start fresh…as the driven snow.

    You’re in my thoughts daily.

  • Ann Marie GovernaleFebruary 23, 2011 - 9:52 am

Yes, I agree. Actually, I iron so much less now than I did, but when I do, it is such a meditative activity and I can so relate to the quote. Actually there is a great short story by Tillie Olsen titled, “I Stand Here Ironing” which is about a mother who is ironing, and while doing so, is reflective on her relationship with a daughter she does not understand. When I teach the story in class, I always am reminded of all the thoughts that go through my mind while ironing- sometimes good, sometimes not. Still, this is such a great label- thanks for sharing. Good morning Becca! Personally I prefer my rumpled up life, it reminds me of my impurities and unworthiness to stand before a great and Holy God. He is the Perfectly “ironed” piece that I would aspire to be modeled after. I must admit the ad is quite humorous though. I totally dislike ironing and fortunately God gave me a husband that really literally loves to iron. Kind of funny how we all have a way to remember our husbands via an iron. Continue your day with a BIG smile, go and smell some crumpled up flowers in their perfection and then make another beautiful card where all those beautiful imperfections make the rest of us ooooh and ahhhh over. Thanks for sharing so much and reminding us that life is full of little “ironies” lol. Blessings.ReplyCancel

Hi Becca my life is totally crumpled at the moment and has been for a long time, thankfully God is at work, ironing out the crumples, with gentleness and the help of others. I don’t believe in coincidence, how apt that you are the one to get this ironing board with the verse on it, meant just for you. You give so much and are a blessing to others as you share your talents, God Bless you.

    Hugs Chrissy xxReplyCancel

Don’t we all wish that were true!! How easy life would be. Unfortunately those wrinkles are what make us who we are. But I will think of this ad packaging everytime I get my iron out and it might make a dreaded chore more pleasureable. Thanks for sharing a precious moment.

    Oh Becca
Thanks for sharing about the wrinkles, we all have them to some extent and as so many of the other girls have said God will take care of our wrinkles in His time.
Keep your chin up kiddo until he has removed yours, I will try to do the same. Have a Great Day!!! And thanks again for sharing!ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca!
Makes me think of my sweet mom, who really didn’t like to iron for us 6 kids and my dad, a pastor……the good old days…well, now she’s in Heaven with our Lord and she has been “ironed” for sure…. That is a wonderful message on the packaging. I pray that it reached a lot of people who had special needs when they purchased it!!!! Hugs~ReplyCancel

Too soon for you?  Well, I think I have it.  Spring fever that is.  Ahhh….so nice outside it’s hard to sit still.   I don’t know about you, but when spring starts to blossom I have a whole change over that occurs in my studio.  I still have some Christmas paper out, and a little Valentines, but now’s the time to put it away to begin getting ready for a new season.  Yay!!  So I guess this fever comes just in time for new spring stamps and such!!  Well, if you are easily enabled, you might want to look away – today I’m using some new Our Daily Bread Designs stamps.  This is a peek of what’s coming at the beginning of the month – spring stamps!!  Okay, I can hear you saying that you’ve never seen that die cut before – well, you haven’t.  It’s a new custom die from Our Daily Bread Designs – you’ll be seeing more of it in the coming month.  I’ve paired it with Spellbinders Ribbon Banners.

The Happy Spring sentiment comes from a set called Daffodil Tag Set and the Daffodils come from a set called Daffodil Corner – available on March 1st.  What a burst of yellow, hunh?  I tied the tiny bows with my peg bow maker so that I could get them all the same size.  Wow, this little thing has come in handy!!  If felt great to get out the watercolors and paint these pretty daffodils.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs – Daffodil Tag Set, Daffodil Corner Set
Paper: Bazzill, K & Co.
Ink
: Versafine Onyx Black and clear embossing Powder, Distress Inks and Reinkers
Accessories: Our Daily Bread Designs – Custom Label,  Spellbinders Ribbon Banners,  Ribbon, Zva Creative Pearls

Thanks so much for stopping in today.  I’m catching my breath and playing around with more tutorials to come soon!!

Awwww, it looks like we all have Spring Fever. I’m so ready, unfortunately in Florida we don’t have a very long Spring, summer comes fast and with that comes hot, muggy steamy weather. But for all you up North, I know your ready to bypass all those snowstorms. You have experienced some awful blizzard type of weather this year.

Becca, love your card. As always another beautiful handmade card. Daffodils are always so pretty when they bloom. HAPPY SPRING TO ALL :) :)ReplyCancel

Becca this card makes me smile and looking forward to spring. Today here in Oklahoma the sun is shining and no clouds in the sky! It started out chilly but has warmed up real nice. My green is coming up on my daffodils and hyacinths so enjoyed this card thinking of warmer days and green grass.

On those angel pins you shared the instructions on. I took that earring back and turned it around and pushed it up inside the cone shaped bead and it held all them together at the top without them sliding down. Of course I then had another one at the bottom to hold the pin on a card or whatever you were using it for. Just thought I would share that info.

Spring hugs and have a blessed day!ReplyCancel

Last week we were teased with Spring-like temps and sunshine and all but the huge mounds of snow had melted. Then Sunday night – ‘thundersnow’ as Mike on the Weather channel has coined it….and then sleet and finally by Monday afternoon – huge amounts of snow – 6″ in about 2 hours. It’s Indiana – this is what we expect.

So, I love your card today – sunny colors, Spring flowers, just beautiful, Becca!
