To see my Mojo Monday card for today, scroll down or click HERE.

Oh my goodness, I don’t know what to say, but there is an all star cast lined up to show you some stamping goodness today – what a way to start a Monday, right?!?   It was so fabulous when my friend Michelle invited me to join her stars for a  Stamper’s Dream Hop.   Well she sent me some goodies to work with and in the package was one of the new LaBlanche stamps that is out on the market.  People described them to me, but I just didn’t get it.  What a pleasant surprise!!  They are very different, but more on that later.  First, let me tell you a little bit about my project then I’ll show you the unique stamp I worked with.

The inspiration for my card was cupcake wrappers.  I have a set of white ones that look like filigree, so I pulled them out and used two of them on this card – one at the top and one at the bottom.  This is another tall and narrow card and the tulips stamps fits perfectly on the vertical, cut from Spellbinders Grand Labels Four.  Since I stamped on dark paper, I added just a hint of color with chalks.  I distressed my cupcake wrappers with Vintage Photo Distress Ink then added some Prima Bling, a Scor-Tape Flower and these petals.

These stamps are quite unique, the packaging says they are made from silicone and they have a foam mount. When you flip them over and ink them, see how fine the details are! This one was a dream to stamp with!  This one is inked up with Memento ink :-)

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Stampers Dream – LaBlanche Tulips
Paper: Bazzill
Ink: Memento Onyx Black. Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Accessories: Spellbinders Grand Labels Four, Cupcake Wrapper, Prima Bling, Ribbon

  • Catherine from London, UKApril 11, 2011 - 4:59 pm

I love your cards today, and I particularly like the La Blanch stamp. I have many of these wonderful foam stamps (though not the one you used) but I have a problem: how do you store them? The acrylic ones are a doddle to store – old cd cases do mine – but these, particularly if you trim them so that they are all odd shapes (so that you don’t get ‘haloes’ round your image), are dreadfully difficult to store and still be able to see what you have got. I have them in two large ‘really useful’ storage boxes, one for florals and one for swirls, but it is not ideal as I have to unpack the boxes in order to find what I want in them and then put back the 3D jigsaw again. Becca, you and the contributors on here are really inventive, so any ideas? Please help!ReplyCancel

Gorgeous card, Becca and terrific ‘hop’.
I’ve been using these stamps for a while and if I may be so bold as to offer you a small tip, cut into your stamp and take away any excess that surround the image. Just use a scalpel to do so. It prevents any transferring of ink. The stamp doesn’t look very pretty afterwards, but it is very effective.
    Hugs,
    Trish xReplyCancel

Oh wow!!  So many of you asked how I used the triangle ruler with my Tonic Cutter so I thought I would give you a very brief demo and more of an explanation.   Cutting is something that used to frustrate me, but now I have a little groove going.   As I mentioned before I make the first cuts on the big Tonic and then when layering papers I use the small Tonic to fine tune and to cut a scant edge.  I hope you enjoy the tip and it gives you a tool to make crafting more fun!!

What I like about the cutter you use is that there is a “built” in place to hold the cutter when you slice. Often when you hold down the the guide moves a little and will change the alignment. Thanks for the tutorial. I appreciate the information on the cutter and the triangle ruler.ReplyCancel

  • Tina CovingtonApril 8, 2011 - 8:10 am

Becca thanks so much for the visual. When I left my comment a couple of days ago, I thought that your used an additional cutter besides these two, which I own. But instead I now see you use the same two I use but you add this additional help tool. Love it! Will be getting me one of those ASAP! My large cutter has been, up until a couple of days ago, giving me “obvious” not straight edges. The same day I saw your post, I made a call to Tonic and he said that the screws that hold the arm down have tension springs and that I should try tightening the top screw on the arm slightly. Like he said half inch turns. I did that. And now it is back to perfect accuracy! And when I get the help tool too that you suggested? Stand back world! LOL! Thanks again!ReplyCancel

  • Elizabeth CApril 8, 2011 - 8:16 am

Thanks Becca! I used one of those triangles during my jr high drafting class. I can’t believe I never thought of using it for cutting. Thank you so much Becca for a very clear and most useful tutorial. Having to cut ‘anything’ has always been a scary prospect for me because I just can’t recognise the difference between straight v slant! So when something is ‘off’ I could end up trimming a ‘straight’ side to make the correction – two wrongs definitely do not make a right!!!! iykwim!!

OH MY Goodness why didn’t I think of that!!! I’m also thinking that my Omnigrid ruler from my quilting days will be a good substitute if I can’t get to the office supply store right away. I thank you for taking the time to make this “Becca Bit” for us. I always learn something new and useful from reading your blog.
    Blessings,
    Terri D.ReplyCancel

Brilliant, Becca! I have the 6″ Tonic cutter and I LOVE your hint with the triangular ruler! But I thought I struck gold with the cutter alone. So imagine me one happy gal! Admittedly, I am a bit of a perfectionist…ReplyCancel

How simple and brilliant! I have been frustrated with my inability to make straight cuts with the guillotine cutter. …… Don’t have a triangle ruler, but will try the metal square I keep for cutting fabric. Thanks for sharing!ReplyCancel

Thank you so much Becca. I’ve been searching for so long for the perfect cutter. I always loved the guillotine cutter and have tried EVERY OTHER TYPE. I always go back to the guillotine. My guillotine is wood and not really accurate though. I bought one online and got really carried away with the heavy duty thing. I could cut a tree stump with this thing but not accurate at all. I keep it for the thick card board though. ha ha. I’m going to buy a tonic when I’m done with all the holidays and my hubby’s 50th and other family things this month. Sorry so long. Thank you again for all your tuts.

    God Bless,
    LoriReplyCancel

Brilliant! Why didn’t I think of that? I have several triangle rulers for quilting – I am going to check them out and see how they work. I don’t think they have a beveled edge. Thanks for the tip.ReplyCancel

  • BetsyApril 17, 2011 - 9:42 pm

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I was always cutting my papers crooked and thinking it was my cutters. I just ran out and purchased a triangle. I am so excited! Straight cuts for me from here on out!! Yeah!ReplyCancel

  • Neesey GebalskiApril 27, 2011 - 2:30 pm

I am fond of this type of cutter as well. I thank you for the video. It explains a lot for me. I’m off to go look for my triangle!ReplyCancel

Hi there blog friends!!  I have a card to share today using a newly released JustRite Stampers set in their Cling collection called Forever Friends.  It is the epitome of elegance; the swirling frames are absolutely beautiful!   It’s a bonus that it was designed to match Spellbinders Ribbon Tags Trio Three.  I wanted to pull together a simple card to highlight the sophistication of the frames in this set.    I’ve been on quite the kick using pink these last weeks so I tried to go with another palette instead of pink, to change things up.

My card is essentially a large medallion!  On the bottom I started with Spellbinders Labels Ten embellished with elements from Spellbinders Parisian Accents.  On top of that I added Spellbinders Parisian Motifs and decided to make it into a square frame using Spellbinders Classic Squares Large.  I layered the sentiment on the bottom and a square border on top.  I added a little bit of color to the square frame using Antique Linen distress ink which I smudged on while the frame was still in the die.

I tied my ribbon onto one of the loops on the frame and was able to thread it down the backside of the medallion.  A couple of pearls for highlights and sweet flowers for decoration and I was done :-).

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: JustRite Stampers – Forever Friends
Paper: K and Company, Bazzill
Ink: Antique Linen Distress Ink, Adirondack – Denim
Accessories: Spellbinders Labels Ten, Spellbinders Parisian Accents, Spellbinders Parisian Motifs, Spellbinders Classic Squares LG, Pearls, Ribbon, Recollection Flowers.

Be sure to check out what some of the other JustRite Design Teams Members have pulled together to show this stunning set:

Her soul went to find a healthy body almost two years ago but I know she’s still with us. I know she’s shining down on my new granddaughter, and all this love makes me feel so good.
