Hi there blog friends!! I have to admit that after I got done with this card I was pleased — it’s different!  It almost looks like filigree to me. I’m using some of this months new releases with JustRite Stamps and several Spellbinders templates to get the effect; I used JustRite Stampers Faith and Forever Friends sets.

Isn’t this layer-a-licious?  I used Spellbinders Grand Squares to cut out all the levels up to Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Squares.  I’m soooo in love with the perfect square and the embossed (beveled) edges – they finish a card so nicely.  After setting the Fleur de Lis Squares in place I cut four of the large symmetrical posts from Spellbinders Elegant Posts then cut arrow end off and trimmed the big end.  On top of that I stacked Spellbinders Classic Squares LG and Spellbinders Classic Squares SM and finished by cutting my sentiment out with Spellbinders Classic Circles LG.

Oh, I found Recollections Pearls in chocolate!!  I know you can color them but I love them when they are already the color I need.  I just didn’t have the heart to put ribbon on this card – it’s soooo busy and I didn’t want to disturb the symmetry.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: JustRite Stampers – Faith, Forever Friends
Paper: Die Cuts with a View – Mademoiselle, Coredinations – Java Bean
Ink: Colorbox Chalk Ink – Chestnut Roan
Accessories: Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Squares, Spellbinders Elegant Posts, Spellbinders Classic Squares SM, Spellbinders Classic Squares LG, Spellbinders Standard Circles LG, Spellbinders Grand Squares, Recollections Pearls

Well, it’s early and coffee is calling my name – off to have some and sort out the day.  Be good friends – ha-ha, you always are!!

    Hi Becca,

Praise the Lord for your beautiful work in His name. I love your cards, they are so beautiful and such a blessing. You are truly an inspiration to me!!! Could you please tell me how do you get the cardstock out of the Spellbinders Dies that are very thin. I usually end up tearing them or poking holes in them trying to dig them out. Thanks and God Bless always.ReplyCancel

  • SuAnneApril 22, 2011 - 8:35 am

How beautiful. I love all the different layers. This would be perfect for a masculine b-day card too! I have a question. I use a craft knife to apply my self-adhesive gems and pearls. Any suggestions on an easier method? I’ve tried the tweezers, but if I don’t cut the string of adhesive with a craft knife first, it often pulls the adhesive off the back. Any other tips or ideas?

Thank you so much for inspiring me daily.

    God Bless and Happy EasterReplyCancel

Thank you again, love the color combination, and yes while you didn’t have one of your famous bows on this one, I’m happy with it as most of my cards get sent in the mail and with the cost of mail on the up and up…bows end up costing more…so enjoy this inspiration and the thought for me that it would be cheaper to put in the mail. Hi there blog friends!  As promised, I rolled random.org to get the winner.   I hope you’ll take a second to pop in and see if it was you.

If the winner could please reach out to me through my contact page with your mailing address within 48 hours.  With no response, I’ll pick a new name.  Remember, I save packages until I have a few, then I make a post office run :-)

There were a lot of great clearance stories.  It almost makes me feel as if I’m been living under a rock.  There is no doubt that a frugal crafter will find a sale!!  I’ve found some great items on clearance in my day many years ago I had a favorite sale I would attend.    I’m a knitter too and more specifically I do machine knitting.  That’s the impatient part of me, on a machine I can get a sweater done in two days :-)  Knitting machines take cone yarn but it’s a tad pricey, besides being a little hard to find.  It would begin at a couple of dollars a pound and go up – something like silk would be through the roof.   I found a place in Cartersville, Georgia that sold yarn but better yet had a sale every July.   They said to get anything good you needed to come early and camp out.  So for years my family and I made the trip and could camp out the day before to get our place at the door.  Once inside, you could have anything you could snag for $1.00 a pound, including some ribbons and laces.  My family and I would case the yarn mill out the day before to see where all the expensive stuff was.  Then when they opened the doors at 5am on the day of the sale – everyone would bust in and run along raking cones of yarn into big boxes.  A stocked warehouse quickly emptied within and hour or so, with knitters, weavers, spinners and other artisans leaving quite happy.  Pity, R&M Yarns moved to Tennessee and there’s no more sale, but every year the same people would come. Even though it was a hectic run to grab the best stuff, people were friendly!!

So as not to make it too confusing, I’ll show the winner for buttons tomorrow and I’ll have something new to show then.

I have a new card to share today, I managed to squeeze in a couple of minutes of me time!  Don’t you feel like you’ve accomplished something when you can at least eek out a card every once in a while?  This is a springy card to match just the way I feel.    As I do every now and again, I challenged myself to pick the speed up and get ‘er done.  Remember, I’m the one that can spend and hour just picking out paper?  Is is just me?

The paper is some of my favorite K and Company.  As I rarely do, I stamped directly on the the paper . . . it just seemed a shame to cover it up.  The sentiment is another from Our Daily Bread Designs from the set called Mother’s Day.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs – Mothers Day
Paper: K & Company, The Paper Company
Ink: Versafine Black Onyx
Accessories: EK Success Abstract Flower Border Punch, Pearls, Bazzill Bling, ribbon

Running off to take care of some family business, hugs friends – keep your eyes open for a big blog candy I’ll be offering with some lovely paper!

The is so pretty… and yes, I spend way too much time deciding what papers to use, what the layout should be, which embellishments to use. It can day me days to finish a card sometimes because I need to walk away and think about if for a while. :)ReplyCancel

I thought that I was the only one who would look at paper for hours trying to figure out what would go good together. I don’t feel so bad now. I can have three or four different combination and end up not liking any of them, put it all back and start over. Decisions, decisions.ReplyCancel

What a lovely spring-like card Becca and I love the lacey effect on the bottom. Ooooh I take ages about choosing papers, colours and which die to use Becca…maybe that’s why I don’t get many cards done! Lol! Anyway I spend so much time looking through all your stunning creations…another reason why I don’t get many done! Lol!
Have a lovely weekend..I’ll be missing from Monday as I’m going away for a few days so please don’t think I’m ignoring your blog! I’ll e back!!!

I “Love” paper. Yes, it takes me forever to pick out a particular piece for a page or card. I can just sit and look through my paper. Some are hard to use! This is a beautiful card. Perfect for mother’s day, perhaps with a different sentiment. You do wonderful work and I so enjoy coming here! Blessings to you!ReplyCancel

Hey Becca, lovely job. And no, you are not the only one. spend more time deciding on the paper than anything else. I’ll start with an idea in my head, with a stamp or a cricut cut, and then must find the perfect paper. Or I’ll start with the recipiants favorite color, and move on to the paper. Sometimes it can take a couple of days to come together. If it’s not working, I set it aside and work on something else. It usually works to refresh my thoughts. TFS

    Hi Becca,

Your card is beautiful. I know what you mean about taking a hour just to pick out the paper that you will use. I am very slow making cards but I think that I love the process of creating just as much as the actual making of the card. It does make it a little hard to make deadlines though. I must say that all of your cards are worth waiting for. :)

    Have a beautiful day sweetie.

    Hugs and Blessings,

This is way beautiful! You could frame this as artwork…just like a lot of your cards! I know what you mean about picking out paper (and embellishments and rubber stamps and, and, and….). What’s worse is once I get it home, I almost hate to cut into some of it. Blessings on you, Becca!ReplyCancel

K & Co. is one of my favorites when it comes to paper and embellishments because they have the look of quality. I know you will understand this term, Becca (because you sew): their paper has “a good hand to it”.

Also, I can spend hrs trying to pick out all the right things for a card. Then,
as I’m doing it will say “oh that doesn’t look right” and find something else.
There are times I end up with something entirely different from the way it
    started!ReplyCancel

Becca I can take an entire day to do one card! I am hardcore at rubber stamping so often create my own paper for cards but it is lovely to see stamping over decorative paper. I seldom do this as often the papers I like seem to have a finish on them that does not take stamped ink very well. Your card is lovely and perfect! Thanks so much for sharing with us!ReplyCancel

  • TanjaApril 15, 2011 - 6:22 pm

Love this paper and card Becca. I am also a slow card maker/scrapper. I take ages to make up my mind finding and pulling out different papers and embellishments, stamping or die cutting something just to put it aside and stamp/cut a “better” colour! And the cleaning up after one of these sessions takes a while too! I am better if I have double sided paper as the two sides usually look great together, even better is a set/range/pad of paper although I don’t always agree with the designers about what goes well together! lol.ReplyCancel

My great clearance was when we were visiting Florida and I saw the drapes I had been looking at at Bed Bath and Beyond on half price. Not wanting to miss out on such a great bargain – I actually carried them home on the plane. While ironing them I found that one had a huge flaw in it. I know exactly what you mean. I actually don’t know how you always have something beautiful to show us, because I take hours to get a card done and then a long time to finally get the post complete on my fairly new blog (I’ve missed challenge deadlines because of it). I’m hoping I can get faster at it, because I don’t have hours to spend every day to get a card done, and I’d sure like to be able to share a card just about every day. I have the DP… I think stamped on the paper is awesome.. I have done this before.. On the corners of mine I added some gold paper brads they are the big ones and put big pearls on top of the brads.. And to me they look like earrings on there.. But, they look cool too….Now that I have my mothers day cards done.. Need to go work on my flower beds… Thanks for the inspiration !! Love your blog.. Keep it coming… Your fan LorraineReplyCancel
