Hi there blog friends!!  I guess because it’s spring, there are so many things to take care of; honestly, I look up and the day is done.  I got my yard squared away today by finding some one who isn’t as afraid of snakes as I am, lol!!!  Whew!!  One less thing to worry about.  Anywho, I do have a card to share today – you know me – I pick a tiny template here to use and a tiny template there to use.  My favorite Spellbinders templates are embellishment templates that get a lot of mileage.  They’re the ones that always seem to find a way in to the mix!  Today I’m using a new Our Daily Bread Designs quote from the Faithful Friend set.

So, here’s what’s in the mix . . . my card is tall – 7″ tall by 5.5″ wide.   I honestly try to stop myself from doing the same things again and again, so this time I decide to add interest to the long vertical side panel by cutting with Spellbinders™ Classic Decorative Inserts Five paired with Spellbinders™ Classic Edges One.  Then for my focal panel I layered  Spellbinders™ Twenty Three followed by Spellbinders™ Parisian Motifs.  Lastly I added a layer with  Spellbinders™ Labels Twenty Two and here I pulled in one of my favorite embellishment pieces Spellbinders™ Ironworks Motifs – I simply cut each motif in half and hooked it over the edge of each side of my label.  The final piece is the tiny flower – in my book this template is a “must have” for one’s collection.  Spellbinders™ Bitty Blossoms has three different sized flowers in the set – this one is the tiniest but I love using them all together for varied sized flowers.

Love everything about this card Becca – design, colors, embelishments and of course your bow. I am still waiting for my spellbinders to arrive. But at least I know they have been shipped. The wait is always so fustrating. I think Bitty Blossoms is going to be one that will definitely get lots of use. • Charlotte ZweigoronMarch 15, 2012 - 8:12 am

Wonderful, Becca! How I do love those layers; they make a card simply gorgeous. I just ordered a bunch of the newest Spellbinder’s dies but didn’t get the Bitty Blossoms. Guess that is next on my list!

Whenever family “interferes” with my crafting, I refer to my mental priority list I made when my youngest was a baby. She is now 39. The first thing on my list was me. I am no good to anyone else if I am sick or cranky or not in faith. The second thing on the list was my children (now to include grandchildren and great-grandchild) and the third thing was my work. When I start to get frustrated I think of that list and realize that nothing has changed. So, I step away from the craft table and into the embracing love God has put into my life to enjoy. I’d count it as a week gained.ReplyCancel

  • Lindyloo, South Wales, UKMarch 15, 2012 - 7:12 pm

    Hi Becca,
When I was growing up I remember asking my parents why some people were given great talent and others were not. Mum said to me that we were all given gifts of talent, but that they were all different. Some people were born to be public speakers, other great philanthropists etc, but some were given talents that are not always readily noticed. These people were the ones with the gift of patience, understanding and perseverance etc.
Now you may be wondering why I mention this; well I truly believe that you were given the gift of great creative talent, (as I and others have mentioned many times) but also the gift of generosity and caring. I believe that if everyone in the world would just strive to achieve the last two, this world we live in would be as close to perfect as is humanly possible.
Thank you for sharing all your gifts with us and showing us a bit of a better world.
I hope the rest of your week is good. Hugs Linda xReplyCancel

    Such an exceptional card!ReplyCancel

I had a glorious week with my sweet son over spring break.  I imagined that once he was home, he’d sneak out to spend some time with friends, but that didn’t happen.  He stuck with me the entire time and it was nothing short of a fabulous gift for me.  I was so thankful for someone to talk to and of my children, he and I are personality twins.  He’s a straight shooter so I spent most of the week with him breaking some honest observation to me. All good, all good.  Now you might understand why I didn’t dare break away to upload some of the things I had ready, lol.  Here’s a card I made a bit ago – don’t even ask me what I was thinking –  I wanted bows and it got a little bit out of hand; once I started tying, they seemed to multiply, lol!!

The base of the card is made using a Martha Stewart punch that I punched nine times in a square grid layout.  I tied a bow in the center of each grid with a larger bow at the top.  I used a sentiment from an Our Daily Bread Designs set called Sweet Friendship.  It’s hung on a tag cut with Spellbinders™ Lacey Ovals and Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals SM.   I also made a box to match the card using the same Martha Stewart punch.  Goodness, it was much easier than I thought, so I’ll put the box on my Tutorial To Do list.

My card is 6″ x 6″ and all bows are made on the Peg Bow Maker, ranging from 1″ to 3″.  Here’s a view of the box with the ribbon removed – inside I have a Prima Rose backed with a fluffy bow to be used as a corsage.  The box is a 2″ cube cut out on all sides including the lid.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs – Sweet Friendship
Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Cream 80lb Cover, Coredinations
Ink: Colorbox Chalk Ink – Pink Pastel
Accessories: Martha Stewart Punch – , Spellbinders™ Lacey Ovals and Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals SM,  Recollections Pearls, Seam Binding, Prima Rose

I missed you guys!! Thanks for stopping by, see you soon!!  Don’t forget to Spring Ahead!!

I was just thinking about one of my sons last night, he just popped into my head and I remember so well when he was only about 2 years old and he loved nothing better than to come up on my knee and have a story read to him and then at the end of the story he always gave me the most wonderful cuddle..last night thinking about him I could actually feel that cuddle…to this day we have always had a very loving and caring affinity with each other.

    Hi Becca,
Your card and box are ‘bow-tiful’. A very clever way to use lots of bows and at the same time produce something beautiful but different. It has the feel of a Pagoda, with all the trellis roses creeping through the open weaves. Just lovely.
I am so glad you have had such a close time with your son, we have to grab onto every minute they offer us don’t we?! They grow so fast and have so little time for us as they do; their lives become so busy with other things. My own son is home for two weeks at the end of March and I am so looking forward to it; I have only seen him once in nearly three months.
Have a wonderful week. All the best LindaReplyCancel

Hi there blog friends!  I have a new card to share, but thought I’d keep the post short and sweet since I have family visiting.  Since I spent a bit of time cataloging my embossing folders, I was inspired by all that luscious texture and wanted to capture it in a card.  I thought the embossing was so exquisite that I decided to stick to one color so that the embossing would take center stage.  Imagine that, making a paper choice within a couple of minutes – are you with me?  My card is 5.5″ tall by 7.5″ wide.  I started out by cutting the scallop bottom using Spellbinders™ Classic Scallop Edgeabilities.  I then cut three 2.25″ strips, trimmed them to points, embossed each using Spellbinders™ Elegance M-Bossabilities (Side B), placed small pearls on each flower motif then attached the strips to my card. Once I could see where each of my points would fall I could gauge where to put my sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs – Flourished Verses set.  Spellbinders™ Bitty Blossoms grace the bottom of each strip right above their point.  I let my satin ribbon and eyelet lace span the top of the card and perched the triple bow made with the Peg Bow Maker on top of Spellbinders™ Picot Edged Circles before attaching to the card.

This is an easy format card with a dressy look, that can be changed up for Wedding, Christening, Anniversary, New Baby, Easter . . . I can think of many so more.  Imagine just putting some soft color in on the embossed flowers and echoing that soft color in the ribbon!   No matter the occasion, it’s a great way to show off some embossing, so this one goes into my card file for when I need a quick card – I hope I’ve given you an idea to tuck away for a rainy day :-)

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Our Daily Bread DesignsFlourished Verses
Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80 lb cover
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: Spellbinders™ Classic Scallop Edgeabilities, Spellbinders™ Elegance M-Bossabilities (Side B)Spellbinders™ Picot Edged Circles, Peg Bow Maker, Scor-Pal, Satin Ribbon, Pearl Corsage Pins, Pearl Brad

I’m having an absolutely lovely time with my sweet son!  Thanks so much for reminding me how very important it is!!  You’re the best!!  Smooches, see you soon!!

Love this card! Simply elegant!! Enjoy the time with your son. I lost my oldest son almost a year ago. He lost his battle with depression and We have been devastated…If I could only tell him how much we loved him and miss him each and every day…take advantage of every minute you have with him. Make him your priority while he is visiting.ReplyCancel

This is an absolutely MUST make card. I will just have to make some substitutions for items I don’t have yet. But you always make me think I CAN do it!
Love everything — the white-on-white, the layout, the embossing,, the bow (I am thrilled with the peg bow maker that my husband made for me from your directions) and the flowers.
Opening your blog is such a happy time in my day. Thank you!

I’ve had a long-standing love affair with white on white. In fact, it inspired me to learn to emboss (in the pre-Cuttlebug era) with a stylus and lightbox. But one thing is for sure, I’ve never seen W on W done as lovely as it is on your card.ReplyCancel

Good evening Becka, I was wondering if you have had any trouble with the spellbinders “Fancy Tags Three”? I tried removing the fancy tag with all the holes around it and the fancy wings on it ripped. Tried it twice and it was very hard to remove and it ripped both times.

    Sincerely,
    LindaReplyCancel

I have just found your site from Pinterest and adore your work. I am new to scrapbooking and cardmaking and had not heard of Spellbinders. Notice they have a machine Grand Calibur, is this what you use for cutting and embossing. Is it similar to Cricut products? Thanks so much for your tutorials they are great! Take care, LynneReplyCancel
