Amazing Paper Grace August 2020 Die of the Month - Pop Up 3D Vignette Telephone - learn about this die at www.amazingpapergrace.com/?p=36354

Good Morning sweet friends!  If I haven’t been around lately its because I’m doing something I adore, I’m designing.  I’m excited to say that I’ve just finished a new set of designs for 2021 but wait, what about now?  Oh yeah, it’s the beginning of a new month!  That brings me to a new favorite – the  August 2020 Die of the Month, Pop Up 3D Vignette Telephone.  (Please do me a favor and have a peek at my video this month – I have a little surprise inside at the 5:47 mark that is a coronavirus blues buster).

This is one of those projects that is near and dear to my heart.  I can’t claim that I’m a full out scrapbooker, but I do like to give gifts that are personalized with sentiments or pictures that tell a story.  I might be one of those who gets a little too intimidated to commit to a large scrapbook page or a book with too many pages, but this is so do-able!!  It gives me room for a couple of sentiments and even space for a small picture or two.

Pop Up 3D Vignette Telephone

I’m always trying to remember to collect the memories while we’re in the journey.  This pop up card is the perfect place to display 1 to 4 sentiments or a sentiment and a couple of pictures.   I call completing the project “memory-making in biteable chunks”  It took me about 20 minutes to make the phone and about 10 minutes to print off pictures and insert them.  Here are the dies in the set:

While I am isolated from my loved ones, I’m ramping up to send out some little mementos.  I know if I send a regular card, it gets put back in the envelope. I know if I send a Pop Up 3D Telephone that once it’s popped up – it’s likely to be displayed.  Guess which option I’m going to go for – insert mischievous grin here :-)

The Pop Up 3D Vignette Telephone Video Tutorial

I’ve given you three different options in the video.  In the comments today, tell me which one you are inclined to make?

Here’s the last project for today, it’s a gift card caddy.  I love that as they lift the receiver, they will get a surprise!

I simply glued two of the phone bodies together and the receiver holds the slip in panel that holds the card.

That’s all for today but these are not all the projects I have to share this month.  This is truly one of my favorites, and when I got the opportunity to sit down and play, I made quite a few things.  I hope you’ll come back for more inspiration :-)

Friends, I can’t believe that five months later I’m still saying stay safe.  But it’s true.  You still need to keep up your guard and exercise caution.  Beyond all, please take care of yourself.  If you’re making lemonade through all of this, it’s the perfect time to get some crafting done. Reach out and tell your loved ones what they mean. Sending hugs always…

Simply LOVE your 3D designs. I’m busy making the typewriter for all my gal friends birthdays next year. This phone will be an additional ‘pick your jaw up off the floor’. They all think I’m so talented. You get the credit and I can’t thank you enough. Be safe, be well and enjoy your weekend ?

    Hello Becca,
Your wonderful new design for August is perfect for the times in which we are living. A telephone, with options for increasing communication opportunities is something we can all use. I cannot decide which I’ll make first, the picture holder or gift card holder; both are fantastic ideas. You have encouraged me to get out of my crafting slump and send cards to those I love!!! Thanks ever so much for sharing your talent. Be well, safe and happy.

Amazing Paper Grace July 2020 Die of the Month - Fanfare - learn about this die at www.amazingpapergrace.com/?p=36324

Amazing Paper Grace July Die of the Month Blog Hop – Fanfare

Hello Gracelets!!  Of all the projects I made with the July Die of the Month, this is my favorite and I thought I would highlight it today.  We are doing a team hop today, so you are about to fall in love with the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month for July 2020, Fanfare.  This large filigree filled oval reminds us of an oval doily. The open aperture center works like a frame for images or even a shaker. Use only half of Fanfare to make it appear rounded, or as a border or pocket. The fan motif can be cut, tucked in, or layered to create a number of embellishments in no time. Ahhhh, romance, can you ever get enough?

Fanfare Details

Not only do you get the large romantic die that fits a 5×7” card or frame, you get a smaller fan motif die that will make corners or embellishments. Four flower dies allow you to create beautiful dimensional accents. What a great value, above and beyond the low kit price! Fanfare is a $45 value.

These are some ways to use Fanfare:

  1. As a Background
  2. As a Large Frame
  3. A Shaker
  4. Make Corner Embellishments from the Fan motif
  5. Flowers!
  6. Cut in half the short way to make a topper
  7. Cut in half the long way to make a border or edge
  8. Fold in half to make a pocket

How many ideas do you have?

There are SIX dies included in the Fanfare set

My Project Today using Fanfare

I knew that I wanted to make a box or bag, the moment I saw this die.  Since the doily motif most looks like a flap, it seemed like a bag would be the winner.

Amazing Paper Grace July 2020 Die of the Month - Fanfare - learn about this die at www.amazingpapergrace.com/?p=36324

This may look complicated but in fact, it’s one of the easiest things I’ve made.  It essentially takes two sheets of 8-1/2″ x 11″ paper. Flat panels and scoring change these pieces into a bag.  It’s a refreshing change from a box :-)

I love place settings and favors! It’s a win when someone sits down to a place setting and is ultimately blown away.  In that vein, to have something as inexpensive as paper give that wow factor, makes this project a no brainer.

I knew I wanted a print background and I wanted the fan motifs of the die set to emulate lace.  I also knew that I wanted that ethereal look from vellum.  This bag is clean and classic but my next attempts will be printed florals.  Imagine filling this with petite chocolates for your guests to take home.  It’s perfect to accommodate small things – a ring, a necklace, a gift card, some money.

Designer Tip:  Use glue sparingly!  There is no need to create a full continuous line of glue when you’re going around a perimeter.  I simply drag a line and I don’t worry about whether the glue skips in places or not.  Basically, if less is more in this case.  Very quickly trace around your outlines and as long as you have some sparse glue in your tracing, it’s much better than a thick defined line of glue.  There is a sweet spot and as you keep testing you will find the sweet spot.
