I’m smitten with these little baskets and they are so easy to make!!  Here’s the line up of the few that I made to hold some cookies:

As you can see, I changed around which inlaid panels I used so that the open parts of the boxes would be in different places.  Then I wondered how it would fare with a design paper.  I have to say that I’m tickled with the effect of the design paper.  That will let me theme future boxes depending on occasion!!

    Hi Becca,
Your selection of cards are so beautiful. Always so elegant and feminine. Like Pam above from Tasmania, I am limited by what I can afford, but one can always dream, and make do with what I have, until when I can afford a little luxury.
Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas, – quite different to ours, we are forecast to have 36o Celcius (that’s hot). Here’s hoping 2019 will be a healthy Year for all of us. Take care, God Bless you. LOL JanReplyCancel

Amazing Paper Grace December Die of the Month by Spellbinders - Softly Spoke
Good morning!!  Every month we’ll be bringing you inspiration for the December Die of the Month; today is our Die of the Month Blog Hop!!   The Die of the Month is like a “swiss army knife”  you can manipulate it to do a variety of things.  At the very least you can do a card and normally you can use the pieces and parts for cards and other 3D items.  The Creative Team has joined in for everyone to give you their spin, in their style.  We hope you’ll see something that resonates and inspires you.

If you are new to our blogs, the Die of the Month is an exclusive die I’ve designed for Spellbinders – it is called Softly Spoke’n Flip and Gatefold Die.  This particular set has 9 dies.  They can be used to make a background, a gatefold card, a tent card and  more.  The individual dies in the set can be used for many things.

If you want to find out more about the Club – prices, how you sign up and what’s included, please look ——–> HERE.
If you missed the introduction and want to know more about what inspired the Die of the Month Club, look ——->HERE.

My Card Today:

Amazing Paper Grace December Die of the Month by Spellbinders - Softly Spoke

For my card today, I wanted simple elegance.  I took the inlaid plates from the Die of the Month – there are two of them – and simply glimmered.  It’s such a delicate and understated effect – I just love it!!   I embellished the pearl points as if I had cut the die and to me it all seems absolutely dreamy!!

Amazing Paper Grace December Die of the Month by Spellbinders - Softly SpokeAfter I added the foil using the cut side of the die, I actually used the oval in the set to cut an aperture and lift the foiled design to frame a sentiment from Quietfire Design from the Autumn Collection.  In addition, I added a gold mat layer behind my rose cardstock.   Lastly, I cut the main piece of the die out (with all rims but no inlaid pieces) so that I could snip out the oval to use on top!

Been MIA for a while, but always a fan. Loved that you’re trying the club route again. I wasn’t able to take advantage of it the first time you had one. This time I jumped at the chance to participate. I may not be able to get them all, but I’ll try my best. Hate I was out of touch and missed the first installment. Amazing Paper Grace December 2018 Die of the Month by Spellbinders - Softly Spoke
Sweet friends, it’s here!!  Today my new Die of the Month – Softy Spoke’n Flip and Gatefold Card is available!!!  This is always an exciting day for me – a reveal.  I worry over these things like a mother hen, always wanting to make sure I’m offering something that is stash-worthy, that it will allow you to make many things, that when your recipient gets your cards they will gasp and that you get a great value packed with options.  It’s very easy to design a die but it’s the other stuff – extra planning, consideration and forethought on uses that goes into the mix that makes a great die.   November’s Die of the month sold out and I wanted to say thank you!

About Softly Spoke’n

Softly Spoke’n is a set of 9 dies that have to be one of the most versatile sets I’ve made to date. The main motif is characterized by a lovely design of spokes that are punctuated by mini dots — very much in the style of Gingerbread Architecture — that are the perfect landing place for a gem or pearl. Out of the box, this card makes a no-brainer gatefold card without any calculating or measuring.  But, the wonderful thing is that the combination of dies can be transformed into an you dream of – a gatefold card, a goodies box, a basket, a pocket card, a candle wrap, a background, tags.  There are enough rims, inlays and pieces in the kit that give you the flexibility to use the dies any way you want.

Here is a card making tutorial video ——-> HERE

Amazing Paper Grace December 2018 Die of the Month by Spellbinders - Softly Spoke

Softly Spoke’n Tips and Tricks

Here’s how it works – this is a 6″ die and on one of the four sides (for flexibility of use) there is a score line instead of a cut line.

Want to make a 6″ x 6″ card?  With paper that is 6″ x 6-1/4″ cut once. Since this is an intricate die, I recommend turning up to 90 degrees and running it through your machine again.  Trim along score line.  That will give you a background.

Want to make a gatefold card?  With paper that is 6″ x 12″ cut once, orienting your paper so that the scoreline of the die is at the bottom.  Since this is an intricate die, I recommend turning slightly up to 30 degrees and running it through your machine again.   This will give you a 12″ panel and you need two of these.  Fold on scorelines – there is a scoreline in the center of the motif and a scoreline at the 6″ mark.  Overlap and adhere the two solid parts of the panel.  As your motifs fold toward the center you will get a double thickness on the spoked detail, adhere those two thicknesses together to give you a solid flap on your gatefold.  Add your embellishments and a closure.

Options!  If you don’t want to cut the whole front of the card at once, you can break it down.  Run through the square frame of the die that also cuts the oval then add your inlay or inlays and run through a second time.

By the way, there is a packaging insert that comes with the Die of the Month that will show you how to put this card together.  Since it was my main inspiration I wanted to show it here.  For this particular card, I used a Quietfire Design sentiment from the If You Don’t Believe in Miracles Set.   I have several inspiration posts planned (while the die is available).

QUESTION PLEASE… Hi Becca or any one else who might know… I went into my stash of dies and found Amazing Paper Grace’s BOW HELPERS AND CLOSURES dies from the Wedding Collection. When I bought it I tried to find a video somewhere on the web that would explain how to use each of the pieces. I finally gave up with the hopes that I would find help later on. I pulled these dies out again and tried searching again to no avail. Could you tell me where I can find help on exactly how to make use of these dies. I would surely appreciate it. By the way Becca, lovely card as always. Remembering you in my prayers and hoping you are getting back to normal after all the damage to your home. Hugs to all….
