Amazing Paper Grace January 2021 Die of the Month - Mini 3D Vignette Valentine
It’s finally here – 2021!!  I have it on good authority that 2021 is destined to be so much better than 2020.  One of the things I look forward to when coming into a new year is the coming of spring and all of the spring holidays.  I only thought it fitting to start out the year with a new die of the pointed squarely at Valentine’s Day.  Whether you have a new passion in your life or simply want to tell someone you are thinking about them the Amazing Paper Grace January 2021 Die of the Month – 3D Mini Vignette Valentine’s Mailbox is bound to bring a smile of delight to a daughter, a son, a friend, a teacher or a sweetheart.  For you A2 Card fans, guess what, this one is A2 sized!

As with other 3D Vignettes, the Valentine’s Mailbox collapses flat for an envelope.  I think it’s an intriguing reveal.  I love buying vellum envelopes so that folks get a romantic glimpse of what they are getting ready to open.

Inspiration for 3D Mini Vignette Valentine’s Mailbox

As a kid, I absolutely loved Valentine’s Day.  There was just something about counting up all the little envelopes.  It wasn’t a competition to get the most, but the fact that everyone swapped them and you walked home with a handful of little envelopes mush have shown a measure of sweet kindness.  It was that “thing” about all the little envelopes that inspired me to create a mailbox full of them.  My favorite part is that the front of the mailbox hinges opens to reveal either a sentiment or the picture of a loved one.

I’m so tickled that this die set also functions just like a 3D Vignette, except for this one is a “mini”.  You simply cut the aperture and fill it with whatever you like.  For my sample above I decided that instead of having the hearts and envelopes extending outside of the card, I wanted them contained down inside of the card.  It makes a sweet little diorama that folds flat for mailing.

Amazing Paper Grace January 2021 Die of the Month - Mini 3D Vignette ValentineAmazing Paper Grace January 2021 Die of the Month - Mini 3D Vignette Valentine
Because of the “mini” size, it fits onto an A2 Card and inside of an A2 envelope.  I thought it would be great to make a shaped mini note card.  It’s a lovely size for a notecard and is a breath of fresh air for me after becoming so accustomed to large cards.

I hope you like it!  I honestly found joy in playing around with this month’s die and it was a real joy to design. Plus I can’t wait to use it after Valentine’s Day since the base is a 3D Vignette.

Hi there sweet friends! Today I am taking another look at the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month for December 2020, Rose Garden Promise.

Rose Garden Promise Inspiration

I was bursting with inspiration for this 5 x 7 card front.  It is so reminiscent of stained glass, which I love and it also rivals my love for roses.  ‘God gave us memory so that we might have roses in December,’ a quote by James M Barrie.  It is precisely that quote that inspired me to think of roses at the end of the year. It has much to do with the promise of an approaching spring, buds bursting forward, and the gift of hope.  As one who loves rituals, I finished off 2019 with a die template that featured roses and decided it was worthwhile to pay them homage at the end of 2020.”

Isn’t it only fitting to go forward with hope for the future and for new and worthwhile things that will break through.  From the entire Amazing Paper Grace Creative Team, let this be a beautiful end to your year; we hope that through making, it brings with it the bonus of lovely memories.

My Projects Today using Rose Garden Promise

I so wanted to cut the roses apart and use the motifs on my card and matching box.  So I cut the die from gold mirrored cardstock and took a couple of seconds to snip each of the motifs.  The smaller motif seemed perfect for a card and I used the larger motif for the top of my box.

Designer Tip:  When snipping the box, be sure to include the outside rim of the die instead of trimming from the inlay.  You’ll have less snipping to do that way.

I have been a member of the APGDOM since it started and not one regret. Anyone who has crafted with me loves your elegant, sophisticated dies! And you never fail to inspire or surprise me with these dies. I still am playing with the telephone and typewriter – such a surprise but I love them. I think my favorites will always be the cabinet dies. I have such fun with them and wish for a valentine/anniversary one. This die is lovely and reminds me of my mother and grandmother who had a tradition of three roses – I had that in my wedding bouquet and three roses in a mini cake topper bouquet. Thanks for the memories, Becca.

My plan is to make a gift card holder with this set, lighted picture frame, & a Christmas diorama for a small nutcracker in center frame. (Maybe even a spinner card!) Wish be luck…

    Have a Merry Christmas!ReplyCancel

Amazing Paper Grace December 2020 Die of the Month - Rose Garden Promise - detailed information at www.amazingpapergrace.com/?p=36742
Oh my, it has been nearly a month since I’ve spoken here!  I looked up to see that it is time for an update.  Time flies when you are in the middle of planning your holiday but I’m tickled to return to share a new Die of the Month.  As you know, designing a die that releases every month keeps me on my toes thinking about beautiful dies that invoke different techniques and outcomes.  Today I’m pleased to introduce the Amazing Paper Grace December  2020 Die of the Month – Rose Garden Promise.

Inspiration for Rose Garden Promise

Last month we swooped in just in time to give you a lovely Christmas die that you could still create with to prepare something before Christmas.  This month, we’re looking at turning the corner and going into a new year.  I don’t know about you, but it’s a time where hope for the upcoming year catches my thoughts.  Just barely into winter, my thoughts always turn to Roses in December.  Last year in December the die template was a lovely rose template and again this year, I’m tickled to keep up with the tradition and give you roses again.

Once I sat down to play with this die and make samples, my head filled with so many ideas about how to put together a card.

Amazing Paper Grace December 2020 Die of the Month - Rose Garden Promise - detailed information at www.amazingpapergrace.com/?p=36742

I think the gold and cream is a classic but also loved the black for the punch of color.  This is truly a 10 minute card!!

Amazing Paper Grace December 2020 Die of the Month - Rose Garden Promise - detailed information at www.amazingpapergrace.com/?p=36742

I was excited to pull out my Copic Markers and flick on some faint color to barely color the roses.

Amazing Paper Grace December 2020 Die of the Month - Rose Garden Promise - detailed information at www.amazingpapergrace.com/?p=36742

After I was done flicking on color, I overlaid the entire arrangement with the white outline.  This is the same concept I show in the video.

Amazing Paper Grace December 2020 Die of the Month - Rose Garden Promise - detailed information at www.amazingpapergrace.com/?p=36742

This version was a no-brainer by dabbing on some watercolor.  If I can do this anyone can do this because I’m a classic overthinker.  Well, I didn’t have to think about this, just color!!

Amazing Paper Grace December 2020 Die of the Month - Rose Garden Promise - detailed information at www.amazingpapergrace.com/?p=36742

I created the background by bumping my watercolor brush against my hand so that purposefully, droplets would fall.  Since I tend to be accident prone, I have to admit that it’s satisfying doing that on purpose.  Afterwards, I stacked four of the outlines adhering each with white glue.  The end result gives a lot of depth and makes the die cut framing very sturdy.
