Santa Box
Believe it or not, I’ve had this little box ready to go but created drama for myself this past weekend when I forgot about a Christmas party I needed to go to – I thought I had another week to prepare!!  I stamp with a group of ladies that have been getting together each month for about the past ten years.  Panic!  No way I could miss our annual get together – it’s the highlight of the year!!   Hmmm…what do to for 12 gifts that have to be made within 24 hours?  As you can imagine, everything in my world came to a halt – I was on fire trying to get ready!  I wish I had taken pictures of the cute little reindeer boxes I made but I didn’t have time to make extra (grrr…..).  Of course I left with 12 little gifts that were given to me.  In my heart there is nothing sweeter than handmade.  I’m eating all sorts of cookies and goodies and sailing high from the joy of being with good friends.  Speaking of friends, so glad you could join me today.  This box is inspired by something I saw in my local quilt shop, and a box made with Spellbinders™ Square Petal Box Top  fit the bill – that’s what I used on the top (Santa’s cap).  The same die template was used along the bottom along with Spellbinders™ Wonky Rectangles for the buckle on his belt.  His face is made with Spellbinders™ Nested Hearts.  Every once in a while you have to make something that makes you laugh. . . I giggled over this . . . more than once.

I put together a video to show you how to make your own.  There’s a detailed supplies list at the end of the video!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Sweet blog friends, how are you today?  I’m fab, really!!  I’ve had a little relief from the hip and leg pain (I’m almost afraid to say that) lets just pray that this little break goes on for a while.  I didn’t waste any time in sitting down to make some things.  In fact, you’ll see more from me this week.  I’m working on the cutest box that I hope to share by the weekend.  In the meantime, I have some new, new, new Quietfire Design stamps to share.  I’ve been wishing on a star to get some elegant Quietfire Christmas sentiments to put on my cards this holiday season.  Enter, my stamp fairy, and just in the nick of time!    Suzanne’s beautiful hand lettering is such a treat!  It’s like jewelry for your cards!

In case you haven’t noticed, Spellbinders™ Holly Motifs is one of my very favorite time templates.  There’s no doubt that I’ll continue to use it year ’round, but you can fault me for using it to embellish bona fide Christmas Cards at every turn?  Here, one of my favorite techniques is to sandwich or stack it so that that beautiful filigree peeks out or as a beautiful showcase.  I simply alternated my Holly Motif elements with Spellbinders™ Postage Stamps in two sizes — I made them into frames using Spellbinders™ Classic Squares LG and Classic Squares SM.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Quietfire Design – Warm Winter Wishes
Paper: Authentique, Strathmore, Bazzill
Ink: Colorbox Chalk Ink – Warm Red, Antique Linen Distress Ink, Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Accessories: Spellbinders™ Holly Motifs, Spellbinders™ Postage Stamps, Spellbinders™ Classic Squares LG, Spellbinders™ Classic Squares LG, burlap, Recollections Pearls, Seam Binding

Smooches and hugs for my super readers!  I have so many new things to play with . . . keep an eye out for more posts from me . . .  My mind is brimming with ideas and my heart is brimming with thankfulness for the kind folks who stop by and allow me to share.

I saw some time ago, how you used it for a card that was not for Christmas. It was wonderful there too! I can see so many possibilities. The quietfire sentiments are always lovely and help me to say what I want. One of the reasons I like making my own cards- being able to design what I want, and say what I want! TYFS! Card made with Velvet PaperHi there friends!  Can I just tell you that I love the velvet textured scrapbook paper you can purchase, it has the most heavenly texture!  It has been around for many years and for a while I loved it, then I thought it was faddish and now I’m back to the love stage!  The paper was the inspiration for my card today – I just love the decadent feel of the flock and the color is oh so rich.

Paper Bow

I crafted a hand made bow from strips of paper and worked some of the velvety paper into the bow and tails — I also used it for my background.  Normally I would be so miserly with this type of paper, scrimping so as not to waste an inch.  It feels good, today, to use it with abandon!  Not wanting to cover up the detail on the design paper, I simply stamped the sentiment from an Our Daily Bread Designs called Ornaments 2 within the wreath and embossed.  This is not one that will get sent out in an envelope, but is one that will be enclosed in one of the packages I need to send this season.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs – Ornaments 2
Paper: Recollections – Believe, Paper Pazzazz Velvet Paper, Expedx Brilliant White Cover
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: Recollections Pearl Brad, Embossing Powder

I hope you had a glorious weekend.  As I can, I’m busily working in the background on things that just make my heart sing!  Sharing soon :-)

Amazing , Breath taking, as always, I just love when I fall in love with a paper and I decided on a card that is deserving of it, it makes my heart sing just as you say.ReplyCancel

We should follow our hearts shouldn’t we, rather than what fashion dictates or what others think? I too have a pack of velvet papers hidden away in my stash from years ago so I am just off to search it out. Love the card Becca and the very creative bow.ReplyCancel

What a lovely and festive bow! I wonder if you might know the whereabouts of Jerri Jimenez. She appears to be MIA since last May and I’ve missed her. I thought you might know if she’s alright.ReplyCancel

So delightfully different for Christmas. I love the velvet ribbon in the center of the loopy flower, it draws the whole colour scheme together beautifully.
You are a very talented lady, thank you so much for all the inspiration. I am so pleased to have found your blog, I spend ages just looking through your archive. Take care. Linda (S.Wales, UK)ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
What a beautiful card. I love every part of it. I can’t stamp for a while because of the surgery. When I can I will try this card.
