Introducing Glorious Glimmer by Becca Feeken and Spellbinders Glimmer Foil System - Elegant Circle and Quietfire Design - Let us Remember - See full supply list at
Sweet friends, I’m popping in today to share a card for the Christmas stash using an “everyday” glimmer plate – yes, the love for Spellbinders Glimmer Foil System continues! Stay tuned, at the end of my post, I’ll share our blog hop prize winners. Plus, did you know I’m in another countdown?  Last month we released the brand new Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month Club and it sold out fairly quickly!!  Well, guess what?

A new Die of the Month is coming in just three days!  I love this one, and hope you’ll come back on December 1st to see what I’ve cooked up :-)

Using  An “Everyday” Glimmer Plate for Holiday Cards

For my card today I’m using the Glorious Glimmer Elegant Circle Glimmer Plate and I’ve layered it on top of A2 Corner Cotillion – it doesn’t get much easier than that!!  It’s what I call an “everyday” glimmer plate because you can use it to accent a holiday, a wedding, or simply to build layers in your cards – it looks great peeking out from underneath a die or another layer.  The calligraphic strokes of the design make it translate to almost anything.

Introducing Glorious Glimmer by Becca Feeken and Spellbinders Glimmer Foil System - Elegant Circle and Quietfire Design - Let us Remember - See full supply list at
As you know, I’m extra happy to dabble with the new foils so I took one of my new designs and pressed it into Christmas use.  The Elegant Circle Plate so reminded me of a wreath so I cut out the center and added a bow. With the center cut out, it gave me a lovely frame and was the perfect shape to highlight a lovely Christmas Sentiment from Quietfire Design.

You might wonder how I cut this out because I’m not a fussy cutter, I’m just not!  Easy peasy, I dug through my stash for a circle die to cut out the outer ring and a circle cutter would do the job too.  Then I took a smaller circle die and pencil and traced the half circle arcs in the center of the motif by hand.  With the pencil marks, I couldn’t go wrong.

Questions about the Glimmer System?  Check my post HERE for FAQ’s.

Introducing Glorious Glimmer by Becca Feeken and Spellbinders Glimmer Foil System - Elegant Rectangle and Flourished Square - See full supply list at

Hello there sweet friends and Happy Thanksgiving!   You still have a day or so to leave a comment to be in the running to win an Amazing Paper Grace die on this post——->HERE.   Thank you so much for stopping by the blog hop we kicked off on Tuesday to cover the Spellbinders Glimmer Foil System and as promised I wanted to pop in and answer some questions I’ve received in emails about the Foil System.  For those who are new here, I’m not a stranger to foil but I’ve finally found a way to get consistent results (without having to buy a printer and rely on the quality of toner).  The new Foil System is a staple on my desk and will be for some time to come.

My Card Today

My card today is simple, just foil plates from Glorious Glimmer and dies with an added sentiment.  I’ve used Glorious Glimmer Elegant Rectangle and Flourished Square Die from Romancing the Swirl.  No bow, can you believe it?  Yep. All that is to say that Glimmer Plates are just like rubber stamps except they are made out of metal which queues them up for additional uses like Letterpress and Deep Embossing.  I’m really so smitten with this machine and have already developed plates deep into 2019 that are pretty darn cool if I must say so myself.

Without further ado, let me get to some of the questions I’m seeing again and again:

Foil System Questions

  1.  Do you need a Die Cutting Machine in order to glimmer?
Answer:  Yes, you need a die cut machine with the same tall aperture it takes to cut steel rule dies.  The perfect pairing is the Spellbinders Platinum and Platinum 6 however there are other die cut machines on the market that are compatible.  For a list, check the Spellbinders website.
  2. How does the Glimmer Machine work?
Answer:  The Glimmer Machine works with heat and pressure in an amount that is available with a slower pass through the Spellbinders Platinum and Platinum 6.  The spacing in the Platinum with the combination of Glimmer spacer plate and Glimmer shim give the exact thickness needed to transfer to the foil.
  3. If I add on more and more shims and more and more heat, will my transfers be better?
Answer:  The “s correct spacing actually feels loose and doesn’t have the same binding feel as when you die cut.  That is because too much pressure will over transfer foil as will too much heat.  The Glimmer Base along with the Spacer Plate and Shim are calibrated for the optimum transfer.
  4. Can I use other foils with the Glimmer Machine?
Answer:  The Glimmer Machine is designed to work with “heat” transfer foils while other machines may be designed to work with toner to fuse foil to paper.  As long as you are using a “heat” transfer foil you should be okay, but I recommend testing it out before investing in other foils.
  5. Do the Glimmer Plates cut like dies?
Answer:  No, the glimmer plates are just like stamps except they are metal.  They can also be used for letterpress, stamping them with ink and deep embossing.  Many of my sets include matching dies so that you can cut out what you have glimmered.
  6. What comes with the Glimmer Machine?
Answer:  The Glimmer Machine comes with a dock and base plate as well as an electrical cord.  (There is a US version and a UK version of this machine).  Inside there is a silicone mat, a magnetic tweezer tool, a glimmer plate, a set of 2 foils, and clear Glimmer Space Plate, an opaque Glimmer Shim and an instruction booklet that outlines all of the materials you can glimmer on and which shims are needed for those materials.
  7.  Why isn’t the shim attached to the Glimmer Base with a hinge and can I simply use my Platinum 6 shim?
Answer:  In my opinion, not having the shim attached gives you a lot of latitude to glimmer different materials.  Plus if anything happens to your shim, you don’t have to replace the whole base,  just the shim.  No, you cannot use the Platinum 6 shim, they are different thicknesses.
  8. How large is the Glimmer Machine Rubber Surface:
Answer:  That gridded surface (1/2″) increments, is very handy.  It will accommodate a plate that is 5-3/4″ x 6-3/4″.That does it!  If you have any more questions, don ‘t hesitate to ask!!

I love your new shimmer foiling system stamps. I have purchased some, but am yet to use them, as I missed out in the foiling system machine. There first run was so popular they ran out! Thanks for answering so many questions, Becca, but I do have one more. In your second photo it looks like there is a lacy bit of die cut swirl under everything. Is that die cut from your gold poster board that you like to use, or is that another glimmer piece? Need more info…..

All that glimmers may well be gold!  Hi there, today we are sharing with you a wonderful new tool – Spellbinders Glimmer Foil System and I’m introducing a new collection, Glorious Glimmer Classic Plates.  In a nutshell, it’s an accessory to your die cut machine that will let you add foil motifs to materials from paper to vellum to leather to wood to fabric and more.  The machine employs heat and pressure along with metal stamps (Glimmer Plates) to transfer foil to a surface – like cardstock.  The Glimmer Plates work just like rubber stamps and in addition to transferring foil, they can transfer ink, they can letterpress and they can deep emboss.  Some of the sets feature both plates and dies!

Adding layers of gold or colored foil motifs creates an extra dimension to the sweet cards you send in life. This is a game changer for elegant cards!  Crafters are finally able to get that professional printer look, but at home and for way less than engaging a printer to do foil.  I like to think that the glimmer plates will make instant backgrounds and borders, but now there’s a new thing to include in your pretty layers!

About Glorious Glimmer

I jumped at the opportunity to create a set of classic, never go out of style plates for the new Glimmer Machine.  My newest collection, Glorious Glimmer Classic Plates have that sweet calligraphic look that has been popular throughout the ages.  Whether used as a background, framed or layered up with a sweet die cut peeking out from underneath, these plates have options that will allow you to highlight them beautifully in any project.

Join us for our blog hop where we will show you some inspiration on crisply transferred foil that spans from a clean look to a more involved elegant look!!  Also today we have the pleasure of introducing a new Creative Team Member.  Please welcome Ewelina Panka – you have seen and have swooned over her work before.  She creates classic beauty on her —-> Blog as well as on her —-> Facebook and on her —-> Instagram.  Please be sure to subscribe to her in each of these areas and watch as she dazzles with her fine eye for detail as well as her magnificent flowers!

My Projects For Today:

First up is GLP-031 – Glorious Glimmer Elegant Square

Here is what the plate actually looks like.

Introducing Glorious Glimmer Elegant Squareby Becca Feeken and Spellbinders - see complete supply list at

This is one of my favorite images, it reminds me of leaves and is oh, so elegant.  I simply took a circle die and traced around each of the mounds so that I could lift my shape up.  This is a perfect shape to layer with one of my intricate squarish dies – so that’s what I did.  Then I took the inner piece and made it a frame so that it could accommodate a sweet sentiment from Quietfire Design called Every Day is a Journey.  It’s that easy to add glimmer to all the layers :-)

For this card, instead of glimmering it, I simply embossed it.  The Glimmer Plates give a very deep and pronounced emboss that seems even more detailed than 3D embossing folders.  For this I simply used to motif as a background element – I love using the plates this way!!

This particular plate works with my Filigree Booklet die to make a book cover or mini card.  There are actually dies with this set of Glimmer Plates that will allow you to make a quick and simple place card.  Today, I made simple baby cards by glimmering the background and adding some precut elements.

There is much more inspiration in store today and for the weeks to come.  Just pop down the list of Creative Team Members to see more!

P.S.  I am still displaced from the Hurricane that hit Florida and that means, that the dies I use for prize winners are in Florida.  There are roughly five people waiting on dies.  I have not forgotten you, please bear with me :-)

I already have the GP&F machine, which I understand your foil plates work in… I also have your Elegant Oval and Elegant Affirmation Sentiments sets. I’m hoping to get something elegant done up for my folks anniversary next month. Thank you for coming up with these wonderful goodies that take our papercrafting to the next level!!ReplyCancel

Becca….you continue to amaze me! Just when I think your creations couldn’t get any better, you come up with more stunning designs. I have the Go Press & Foil machine, but haven’t had a chance to play with it yet. Your gorgeous plates are…well, just gorgeous! Much more to add to my wish list. I don’t know which is my favorite, but the elegant occasion sentiments, the monograms, placecard, background, border….of heck, all of them are awesome! Still sending prayers that you will be able to move back home soon. Take care.ReplyCancel
