I love it when that happens!!  I’m a background stamp kind of girl so no one was happier that me when one of the Our Daily Bread Designs releases this month was a background stamp.  For my card I’m showcasing the Brocade Background and using no design paper (insert scary music here).  Actually this really goes back to my roots — when I started stamping I always used some kind of background stamp and never would have dreamed of using design paper.  My how times change!!  This would look wonderful in any color, in fact before I settled on the blue I tried out several pigment inks.   I’m using a sentiment from the Full of Grace collection called Peace.

To show off the sentiment, I used one of my favorite new die templates, Spellbinders Labels Fourteen, matted.  Around the edge of the card I used two borders, Spellbinders Ric Rac Diamond Border Petites and Lotus Border Petites.  On top of the double tied bow is a large rhinestone brad and I added some crystal beads on a pin.

I thoroughly enjoyed my playtime today and if you haven’t played around with backgrounds lately, you should give it a try!!

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs – Peace
Paper:  The Paper Company, Bazzill
Ink:  Adirondack Denim Pigment Ink
Accessories:  Spellbinders Labels Fourteen, Spellbinders Ric Rac Diamond Border Petites, Spellbinders Lotus Border Petites, The Paper Studio – Spare Parts Brads, Swarovski Crystals, Satin Ribbon

Several of you have emailed to ask about the bright shiny thing I’ve been perching my cards on.  Can I first say that I was totally defeated by trying to get my cards to stand exactly where I’ve put them when getting ready to photograph.  I notice that others use a little floral frog but I didn’t have any luck with that – it was getting my cards dirty.  I found this stand at Michaels and apparently it holds candles.  I just flipped it upside down and simply slip my card in between those mega huge hulking crystals and it does not move.  I rarely stamp on the inside of my cards because I can’t get the card to stand stable enough to show the inside . . . hmmmm . . . maybe this will change now.  Hope this clears up the mystery :-)

This is absolutely stunning Becca. I love the background stamp and the colors you selected for the design, very rich and elegant. I’m not a DP girl. I absolutely love DP, but when I play with it, I’m afraid it looks like just that . . . . paper that’s been played with. I don’t have the talent and skill it takes to successfully design with it. You are a natural with it, as well as background stamps I might add! Hugs!!!ReplyCancel

Becca, I, too, am a background person. Love this stamp. Designer paper using marbled shaving cream is a fantastic background, especially if you ‘do it my way.’ LOL Lovely, lovely background, Becca!ReplyCancel

Oh Becca – what a beautiful card! Love the colour you chose to stamp with. The Brocade background stamp is a winner as is the sentiment – one I have loved for years. All of your SB layers are gorgeous.

What stunning colors together and such a beautiful card. I love to be with creative with background stamps. Designer paper is more simple, but at times, I believe it competes with the stamp images that I am using. Keep providing inspiring work!ReplyCancel

You’re probably wondering where I’ve been.  I’m always only a keystroke away however over the last week or so I fought with my computer and the computer won!!  Sheesh it’s playing gotcha with me and at this point I’m crying uncle. I may have to wipe out my whole laptop, which I don’t want to do, so we’ll see how it goes.  I did take a break from the battle to make a card using one of the new JustRite Stampers Sets called Backyard Birds.
I used Spellbinders Labels Fifteen as the base for my focal panel and built it up using Lacey Squares and cutting a window with Standard Circles Small.  I love the Zva Creative Pearl Circles and in this case they really brighten the focal panel!  Everything is colored with Copic Markers.  On the inside I mounted a sentiment made by stamping a small portion of one of the borders and cutting it from Spellbinder Tags Five and mounting it on Labels Four.

Such a sweet image!!  I’ll be back with more this week :-)

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  JustRite Stamps – Backyard Birds
Paper: Prima – Annalee: Avondale, Bazzill
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Spellbinders Labels Fifteen, Standard Circles SM, Spellbinders Lacey Squares, Spellbinders Tags Five, May Arts Silk Ribbon – Taupe, Zva Creative Pearls, Copic Markers – RV32, B0000, B37 B34, B93, YR2

Happy Monday y’all!!

Yes I was wondering where you’ve been lately. You are my favorite blog to visit each day and it just doesn’t seem like you have been adding to your blog as often as you were. I was so worried that your husband was having health problems again, so I was quite relieved to know that it was your computer this time, although I do know what a hassle it can be to have to transfer all your “stuff” from one computer to another, or in your case “wipe it all out.” Hope whatever needs to be done, goes smoothly for you.ReplyCancel

Hello everyone! Welcome to our September Release Blog Hop!  Today is your first chance to see the sets in their entirety – some of the design team have tempted you with "slices" during the week, so now you get to see!!  You can take a peek at all the sets HERE.   If you arrived here from Kathy Jones, you are in the right place!  If not, you might want to start at the Our Daily Bread Designs Blog to get your bearings.  If for any reason a link along the hop is broken, simply return to the Our Daily Bread Designs Blog  to see who is next on the list :-)  Blog hop morning is a busy time for blogs so if you are unable to leave a comment, no worries, circle back to that blog at the end.

We want you to have fun and be able to zip through the hop so we’re keeping it simple!  There are no secret words to collect, no email to send, but there are still goodies up for grabs.  Three of our design team has prizes hidden throughout the hop – even the designers don’t know.  You’ll want to make your way through the entire hop for sure!

Here’s What You Need to Know to Win:

  • The Blog Hop runs from 8am EST on Wednesday, September 1 through 8pm EST on Thursday, September 2nd.

  • There will be 3 Winners . . . Up for grabs – 3 Gift certificates to shop in the ODBD Store.  Each person will win one and the denominations are $15.00, $20.00 and $25.00.

  • Winners will be randomly chosen from all the qualified entries by the three designers with the blog candy and will be announced on Saturday, September 4th on the ODBD Blog.

Here’s What You Need to Do to Win:

  • Hop to each blog of the Our Daily Bread Design team and leave a comment on each blog.

  • Return to the Our Daily Bread Designs Blog  and leave a comment that you completed the hop and left comments for each designer.

  • If for any reason you cannot leave a comment, please give us the name/s of the designers you were unable to leave comments for… and you’ll still be qualified for the drawing.

For my card today I’m using two of the Our Daily Bread Designs new sets – an elegant new frame from the Brocade Borders Set and a quote from the Peace set.  I created a card base using the new Spellbinders Grand Labels One.  My card measures 5 1/4" x 5 1/4" square and there were still three more sizes larger.  I’m just amazed that with one cut of doubled paper, I could have my whole card base with a decorative edge!  On top of my base I layered Spellbinders Lacey Squares and Spellbinders Labels Sixteen.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs – Peace, Brocade Borders
Paper:  Bazzill, K&Co.
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories:  Spellbinders Grand Labels One, Spellbinders Lacey Squares, Spellbinders Labels Sixteen, Zva Creative Pearls, Ribbon

Your next stop along the way is to visit Angie Crockett!!

I promise, you won’t be disappointed!  Angie has a wonderful creation to share with you today.  In the meantime, thanks so much for stopping by!!

Okay – what gives???? You said “I’m just amazed that with one cut of doubled paper, I could have my whole card base with a decorative edge!”

Regardless, I just love this card and all your cards. I’m still waiting for you to adopt me!!

So tell me how you did this card base!!!ReplyCancel
