Hi there blog friends, I’ll bet you thought I was off on vacation somewhere and nowhere near a craft room, right?  Well vacation, no . . .  not near a craft room . . . no, just busy.  I knew you wouldn’t mind but my sweet daughter leaves tomorrow and I’ve spent the last week being at her beck, call and hug.  I’d love to say that it’s not bothering me that she’s leaving but that sweet girl has done right by me all her life and it’s not for me to be in her way at all. It did feel great to hop up and go to lunch with her at a moments notice or run around to her house when she needed my opinion on something.  Sigh, we load the moving truck tomorrow . . .  In the meantime, I do have a card to share and it’s made using a verse that I contributed to the set some time ago (it’s one of my favs).  I’m loving the bookmarks released this month with Our Daily Bread Designs, I used the verse from the Bookmarks Scripture set, which fit perfectly on a tag.

Using Spellbinders™ Spiral Blossom Four, I created the flowers, altering their size by snipping a length off of the end to vary the size.  That sweet flourish is an elegant piece found in Spellbinders™ Venetian Motifs.  Along the edge of the tag I glued the wonderful border from Spellbinders™ Asian Accents.   And, I finished off with a sweet peachy rose colored button on a pearl pic.

Ink: Amuse – French Roast

Short and sweet :-)

Thanks for stopping by!! Hey, by the way, have I told you lately that something good is always on the way?

A very lovely card and verse Becca. So glad you took that precious time with your wonderful daughter. You can never get that time back and how awful if it was wasted on-line, instead of being there in person. I hope that her move goes well and that she isn’t moving too far away from you!ReplyCancel

Glad that you got to spend so much time with your daughter. I know that you’ve got mixed emotions. You’re going to miss her, yet you’re thrilled to see her spread her wings and fly (after all that’s your job as a Mom, to teach ’em to fly on their own!). Just remember she’ll always be your daughter and you’ll always be her Mom! BTW, another lovely card!

So happy for you, that you could spend a week with your daughter, before she moves. I hope, the move will go smoothless and safe, and don´t worry about her, I´m sure, she´ll do just fine with the great values, you´ve taught her through life hun.The idea I read here about tucking her a letter from you in her luggage is really awesome, and I´ve done that with my kids many times and they always tell me, how much it meant to them, when they got to where they should and felt a bit alone and then found this, it made things a lot easier for them, almost like I was just next to them somehow anyway, so it does work great, I know.ReplyCancel

ah, Becca,,,,,,No matter how ready they are, it always hurts a mother’s heart. Of course, we want them to grow and change and move out,,,we raised them to be healthy, independent, lovely people,,,,,,,,,,but it just hurts so badly! I wish I could give you a hug,,,,,,,I’ve been there. I second (or twentieth!) the idea of putting one of your lovely cards with a few words from you in her suitcase,,,,,I did that with my oldest,,,,,,I told her how much I loved her and how proud I was of her,,,,,and told her she could always come home,,,,,for an hour,,or a week,,or a year, if she needed to. I wish her the best,,,,,,and you are both in my prayers tonight! Hugs,,HollyReplyCancel

It was hard when my son moved so far away. He lives in Key West now which is clear across the country from me, and we only get to visit once a year, but he is always a phone call away. However, I think I would seriously have trouble if my youngest daugther were to ever move away. She is married and has twins which I provide day care for and have gotten much to attached to her, her husband, and the girls. She is a doll and I am sure it would just about do me in if she were to move away. We have always been very close. But I know that that is always a possibility. Life happens. So I can imagine how hard this is for you. I am thankful that you have had some quality time with her before her departure. Your phone bill might increase, but it is the next best thing to having them around the corner.
    Hugs,

Lovely card, and TFS. I’m so pleased you were able to dedict this time to your sweet daughter. I understand exactly what you are feeling about your dtr moving away. You are so proud of her, but it’s so difficult not to see her as often as you would wish. Our only dtr lives about 700 miles away, and we don’t get to see her as often as we’d like. (She works and even if we visit, she still has work obligations so it’s not like she can just drop things and spend time with us as when she was our little girl). She just left to go back home after a quick trip to visit. So I’m feeling exactly what you describe. It does get a little easier as each day goes by, but the first few days after the goodbye are very emotional! Many hugs and God will provide comfort. Many ways to stay in touch electronically, but it’s just NOT the same as being there in person…to give a hug or kiss. Being a Mama never stops…no matter how old they get.ReplyCancel

Hi there blog friends!  Peeking in with more cards today – I’ve exhausted every half-made thing I started this month but never finished, lol!  First up a card embracing purple – could it be that I’m finally okay with purple?  The card features a sentiment from JustRite Papercrafts intended for Christmas, but it’s awesome enough to use all year long from the Joy to the World Medallions set.  On my card base I’ve used Spellbinders™ Resplendent Rectangles and built up from there using Spellbinders™ Vintage Lace Motifs and a spray of flowers using Spellbinders™ Bitty Blossoms (five flowers using the medium and small die templates).

Not my normal colors but still shabby, vintage.  :-)   I’ve used natural colored coffee filters for my flowers (yes, I keep promising a tutorial and I will get to it soon).  This has become much easier for me now that I’ve experimented around a bit – I’ll be showing you the easy way :-)

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps:  JustRite Papercrafts – Joy to the World Medallions
Paper: K & Company, The Paper Company
Ink: Amuse Chalk Ink, Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink
AccessoriesSpellbinders™ Resplendent Rectangles, Spellbinders™ Vintage Lace MotifsSpellbinders™ Bitty Blossoms, ribbon, corsage pins, Recollections Pearls, burlap ribbon, lace

ETA!!!!  Please go by and visit the JustRite Inspirations Blog – your mouth will literally drop open!!  The JustRite Design Team has made some “to die for creations” using my new stamp line – oh, the ideas you’re gonna get!! They’ve outdone themselves – when you’re done here, go see!!!   http://justritestampers.typepad.com/justrite-inspiration/2012/07/august-release-day-1-amazing-paper-grace-collection.html

For my next card I’m using a sweet sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs called Loving Memories.  I picked out some more shabby paper and distressed it a little bit more with Antique Linen Distress Ink.   I found that the third largest die template from Spellbinders™ Resplendent Rectangles was a good vertical fit for my sentiment.  After it was cut I added the fourth largest die template and embossed both templates together.  Keeping the smaller template in place, I added distress ink to give some color to the panel.  I backed my panel with the second largest die template from Spellbinders™ Decorative Labels Eight (trimmed vertically to fit).

For the final decoration I added the sweet filigree piece from Spellbinders™ Frosty Forms and stenciled it with Antique Linen Distress Ink before taking it out of the die.

SUPPLIES I USED

Now you’ve gone and done it again. I had my two favourite cards topping my “Favourite all-time Becca-card list” from your last posting. Now these are my new really favourite cards. You just continue to knock my socks off. Had a peek at the JustRite cards. They did a spectacular job with your new stamp line. Congratulations Becca on all your amazing successes.ReplyCancel

Hello there blog friends!  Peeking in as I said I would, and I have a card that I made after I returned from CHA and it goes out to a sweet friend of mine.  I’ll warn you this one is layered to the hilt but that’s because I love layering ;-)  I did give in to whim with lots of pearls from my stash.  I started out with Spellbinders™ Venetian Motifs as my base (I cut it in half to make it large enough to peek out from behind Spellbinders™ Labels Twenty) then adorned with matching pearls from Want2Scrap Nestabling Labels Twenty Five).  Then I layered Spellbinders™ Floral Ovals, which I stamped with JustRite Papercrafts  Ever After Antique Labels.  The top layer that holds my sentiment is Spellbinders™ Fancy Framed Tags Two, embellished again with Want2Scrap Nestabling Fancy Tags Two pearls.  The sentiment from JustRite Papercrafts Just Because Vintage Labels fit perfectly!

I finished off with a silk bow and matching resin rose and a corsage pin embellished with a button.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps:  JustRite Papercrafts – Ever After Antique Labels, Just Because Vintage Labels
Paper: Prima Song Bird, The Paper Company Kraft, Neenah Classic Crest Natural White
Ink:  Memento Rich Cocoa
AccessoriesSpellbinders™ Venetian Motifs, Spellbinders™ Labels Twenty,  Spellbinders™ Floral OvalsSpellbinders™ Fancy Framed Tags Two, Want2Scrap, silk ribbon, Anna Griffin resin rose, Recollections pearls, Pearl Pic, button

I’ve been quite intrigued by Spellbinders™ Botanical Swirls.  It created a lovely backdrop for a white card.  I simply cut and popped everything up on foam tape to give some depth.  My sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs called Smooth Sailing, was stamped then cut using Spellbinders™ Back to Basics Tags.

Needing something different for the centerpiece of my seam binding bow, I used the tiny octagonal piece from Spellbinders Octagon Strips and Accents.  I love it that they went so small with this Cut-Fold-Tuck elements – makes it perfect for little embellishment areas like this. :-)

SUPPLIES I USED
StampsOur Daily Bread Designs – Smooth Sailing
Paper: K & Company, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White
Ink: Amuse Fern
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Botanical Swirls, Spellbinders™ Back to Basics Tags, seam binding, flowers (Hobby Lobby), corsage pins (Hobby Lobby), Recollections Pearls

Hugs to you all, thanks for stopping by today!!

I tell you, CHA must have recharged your creativity to the max!! I’m seeing little touches here and there that are so cool… I have come to realize that you must be using flowers from the floral or wedding department occasionally and I know that it takes a certain “eye” to pick the right ones. These today are lovely; so are the pins… simple but elegant. Everything here is a treat for the eyes!!ReplyCancel

  • Carol WJuly 30, 2012 - 2:57 pm

These are both so lovely, the first one soft and warm, and the second one a little crisper, but elegant. Really like the Justrite stamp you used on the beige label, showing that it doesn’t have to be coloured in to make a striking impact.
I have two questions about the Botanical card that perhaps might give you future blog post fodder (I hope!). What is the size of the card, particularly the blue botanical panel? Did you cut the die one time and then trim your border around (or cut the paper to size and centre the die on it to go through the machine?)? For the tag, is the die inked before cutting to create the two-colour result? It looks like the green is a whole separate layer, but perhaps it’s just really good inking you’ve done? Thank you!ReplyCancel

  • Karen M RothJuly 30, 2012 - 4:50 pm

    Oh, WOW!

If I could make cards as lovely as you do….But I guess it really falls down to having all the right tools and supplies, which I do not, being on a fixed extremely limited income and having all my “spending” money sapped by all my different illnesses and my 15 different medications I take on a daily basis and may soon have to add more as the doctor thinks I may also have Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

So just even seeing your beautiful cards is a treat within itself as my eyes are heavily affected. I have lost the vision in my left eye almost and I have lost all peripheral vision. So,please, keep them comin’!ReplyCancel

  • Eleanor JenkinsJuly 30, 2012 - 5:21 pm

I love the botanical swirls but am wondering how many times you had to run it through your machine for it to cut in every space? I have the Grand Caliber and realize that cuts the designs much better but have had problems with another brand of dies cutting. I use PTI and SU cardstock. Love your blog although I don’t comment much! You have really made a name for yourself and I just love all of your projects!ReplyCancel

Becca: When I open my e-mail and see that I have something from you, I can’t open it up fast enough to see what you have sent. These two cards are awesome. I love both of them. ALL of your cards and projects are so lovely. You are so talented. Thank you so much for sharing your talent and explaining how and what you use for your cards. It is greatly appreciated. I do have one question. Where do you buy the stick pins? I know you make your own, but where do you get the pin itself? I went on Becca Bits to see if I could find a video on how to make them, but I didn’t see a video or tutorial on how to make the stick pins. Your bows and pins really make the cards. You are an inspiration. Thank you!!!!

The “Thanks a Million” card is stunning. Looks like a million!!!!!! The second card is also very elegant. But then, when isn’t one of your masterpieces???? Hope your trip is going well. I know you will miss your daughter a bunch. It’s a bummer when they spread their wings even thou that is what we train them to do. Fortunately for me, my daughter was able to enhance her career locally, get married, have children and still stay within a few miles from me. But, she is the only one that is local.
Have a safe trip, and thanks for taking the time to share your cards with us.
