Found My Lace!

Well, if you haven’t figured it out, I finally straightened out all my laces and got them wound onto matboard (granted not little pieces like I do with my Ribbon Storage).  Now that I can get to it all and it’s filed away in a drawer, I’ve fallen in love with it all over again.  Several of you have asked where I got it and unfortunately I have no idea.  I only have Walmart, Michaels and Joanns around but I have a stash of fabric and laces because I sew too.  If I had to bet on it, I think the one I’m using today is from Michaels and was purchased within the last three or four months.  Lace addicts know that you can find lace in the least likely places for recycling and tucked in odd places in department stores, right?!?  So on to my card today, I wanted a vintage look so I went for chocolate with a hint of mauve which is one of my favorite palettes.

It would have been a shame to cover up those stripes so I cut two Spellbinders Lacey Circles and hollowed them out using Spellbinders Standard Circles SM and paired them up with the leaves from Spellbinders Foliage.  I ran a small scallop across the top of my lace using Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Borderabilities Petite and topped everything off with Spellbinders Fancy Tags Two off to the left side.  Can I just say that the Nestabling that I used on the Fancy Tags Two makes my heart sing!!  They’ve already configured the pearls – all I have to do is stick them down and I think they look stunning!!  I’m using a sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs May Release called Porch — what a sweet set!

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps: Our Daily Bread DesignsPorch
Paper: My Minds Eye, Coredinations
Ink: Antique Linen Distress Ink, Vintage Photo Distress Ink, Versafine Vintage Sepia
Accessories: Spellbinders Lacey Circles, Spellbinders Fancy Tags Two, Spellbinders Standard Circles SM, Spellbinders Foliage, Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Borderabilties Petite, Want2Scrap Nestabling for Ribbon Tags Trio Two

Thanks for stopping by today…I’ll be back later on with the new poll for next week!  Oh speaking of next week . . . don’t forget to come and see me on Tuesday :-)

Happy Sunday sweet blessings to you Becca and everyone who has left a comment. Your card is stunning, stunning and more stunning. I don’t know how you come up with the ideas for all the gorgeous cards you make, but each card is truly amazing and ever so precious. I’m constantly looking around in my shopping expeditions in antique and thrift stores for beautiful lace, but never seem to be able to find it. I remember years ago you could find it almost anywhere. Thank you for sharing all your fabulous ideas with all of us. Your creative talent is definitely a gift from the Lord.ReplyCancel

What I do to not waste ribbon or lace is only use enough to cover the part that shows. I cut the ribbon/lace at the diecut leaving the part underneath with nothing.ReplyCancel

Love the vintage feel of this card Becca. Very pretty as always. Thanks for answering about locations of where you find all your beautiful lace. I guess I will have to be more diligent in my search. I do shop at JoAnns alot as I am a sewer also. Of the stores you have mentioned, they have the largest variety of lace. Don’t think I have seen any at our Michaels, and our Walmarts have gotten rid of their sewing departments. As large as San Diego is, you would think that we would have a better selection of stores then we do. This has always been a complaint of mine since we moved here almost 20 years ago.

    Hello and Happy Sunday Becca,
What a Beautiful Card! I was wondering if you can help me in regards to the seam binding you use. Is it Rayon or Cotton and where can you locate it. I have been to our local Joanns and they only have the folded Quilt binding. Thank you for your help and Thank you for being our Inspiration. Have a wonderful day.ReplyCancel

WOW!!! I love every bit of it. So very beautiful!
Our WalMart no longer has a sewing section and I’ve never seen lace at our Michael’s either. I have found some in thrift shops and yard sales. I am ashamed to admit my lace is a tangled mess. Most of it was purchased in grab bags when Ben Franklin closed their doors over twenty years ago. None of it is as beautiful as yours but still deserves to be give a little love. You have inspired me to get them organized.
    Blessings BernieReplyCancel

Your card reminds me of Andrea Bocelli’s music. I think it’s the brown/beige striped background and ribbon through the beautiful lace. So elegant, stately and yet warm at the same time. Both card and music infuse me with warmth and happiness. The Nestabling and rose/leaves add a delightful light touch. Your creativity simply knocks my socks off.ReplyCancel
