I’m giddy that I had time to play!  I’ve been hankering to use a new border die that was jumping out of my stash.  I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it and have another card coming to show you how crazy wonderful this new die is – Spellbinders Shells Duality.  OMGoodness!  Oh, and I have been dreaming about using the Minced Die Cut Borders Technique I created, with black paper.  I love how it turned out!

Walk Through on How to Make the Card

Base
The base of the card is 5-1/2″ x 7-1/2″ on black card stock.  I used the same black paper cut to 4-1/2″ x 7″ as a dummy layer to affix the Shells Duality border to.   All of the leaves for this border are unattached on one side so I simply slid my paper underneath each leaf and it created a special treatment on the edge of my paper although it essentially hides half of the border.

Focal Panel

Since I knew I was going to Minc these dies I copied three of the Spellbinders Astoria Label dies using my copy machine and then ran the copy through my Minc Machine to apply gold foil.  Then I cut out each label (you can see the pieces below after I cut them out).  If you don’t have a Minc Machine you could apply gold on the edges using a gold leaf pen.

Embellishment
Not much embellishment for this card because the gold is so bold.  I reached for Spellbinders A2 Tranquil Moments and cut out the pointed filigree element.  I cut the element in half and applied it to the top and bottom of my stamped image.

Here’s an up close of the sentiment.  Unfortunately it is no longer available (to my knowledge) but I just can’t bear to let it go from my stash.  I have lots of stamps like that – that need lover every now and again :-)

WAUW this is really different from your normal style Becca, but it´s really elegant and would be the perfect card for any male, I´m sure. Hubby just looked over my shoulder here and said wouw this looks really cool, and he very rare express this kind of comments on anything, so for him to do that, I know, it´s really awesome in a mans eyes too.
I really love the gold on the black it sure gives that really elegant look. It´s awesome as everything you do Becca.
And I hope the week ahead will be just as good as your day yesterday too.ReplyCancel

I’m so used to seeing all white cards or light colored cards that I was shocked when your website loaded and there was a card in black!

There’s something so captivating about black and gold – it’s dramatic, it’s exciting… It’s amazing how it brings light out of darkness! I love this sentiment. When I realized that today would have been my Mom’s 90th birthday, this was a beautiful way to remember her.
