In the past I have loved creating layering dies to go along with all the other romantic dies that go into making a card.  Those layering dies are so special because their edges peek out from underneath the layers where they flood the card with clean edges, structure, and class.  These layers define those above them and since they are made of classic shapes, they even layer together well.  Today we are introducing a new set of die cutting classics – I’m so tickled to introduce The Fluted Classics Collection.

The Fluted Classics Inspiration

The crimped and pierced edges are reminiscent of a pie edge or the edge on a sealed bag but if you look closely they almost resemble a blanket stitch. Either way, it’s a delightful edge that draws your eye into the center of a card.  Nest the outer and inner rims with the insert to cut a tailored frame or for a beautiful background edge to any layering design. Keep it simple and you can die cut a solid shape with just an outer rim. The Fluted Classics come in circle, square, oval, and rectangle shapes. We’ve also added a slimline version for those card makers who want to create an elegant and trendy silhouette.

My Project for Today

I’m using S4-1151 – Fluted Class Squares

Today I used the delicious texture of the dies to highlight a sentiment.  I took two of the Fluted Classic Squares and intertwined them for visual interest.  My Glimmer Hot Foil “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” sentiment fit inside quite nicely and then I embellished diagonal corners of the card to draw your eye in.  There are lots of slanted lines in my card today, that’s one of my favorite things to do with a square die.  In fact, setting one square horizontally and one square on point make for a fabulous frame.

Designers Tip:  Although you can cut without embossing, the embossing feature on this set of dies creates a deep impression that is stunning.

Slowly but surely I fit in a Christmas Card here and there.  I know the time to send them is drawing near but I tell you it’s as therapeutic for me to make them as it is to send them.  I won’t be sending out a big stack this year, but it won’t stop me from making more.   How are your plans coming together in this new normal?  I’m near family for the first time in more than 10 years and it’s my gift that has already been opened for the holidays.  I’m so grateful.  And, even though I experience struggles getting back to normal after all the recent events, I’m holding on to these good days.  I hope my post finds you grateful, healthy, and happy.
