Step by Step

1. Start out with a 6-1/2″ cream card base and layer with a 6-1/4″ gold matting layer and 6″ cream layer.

2. Cut a 6″ square piece of card stock with the S6-112 Graceful 6 x 6 Frame Maker giving you 4 triangles. Together, cut the tip of the group of triangles off so that you are left with 1-3/4″ depth (the piece shown on the left, above).

4. Tape all four pieces together on the back to create a mitered frame layer. Stamp sentiment on 4 x 4″ panel and attach directly to card before attaching frame layer with foam tape. (see above)

7. Add a header to the frame by trimming a length of the Arched Border from S4-704 Graceful Sweet Words Border Set.  Finish with pearls, ribbon and a bow.

For new readers, every Friday it’s my pleasure to give away a card.   The card goes to a randomly picked reader (worldwide) who leaves a comment in our conversation. I just loved the “You can do amazing things” washi tape and seem drawn to tapes that have sentiments on them.  This not a difficult technique an I hope you’ll give it a try some time :-)  Thanks so much for popping in!!   Remember, introductions and giveaways on June 13th.

This is such a beautiful card Becca, and really beautiful made. I´m the same have lots of washitape lying around, but hardly ever use it, to be honest, but it really looks great the way you´ve used it here, so maybe I should drag it out again and try to get some of it used here he he.
Have a wonderful week-end and I´ll be looking forward to the hop here next week.ReplyCancel

This card is so sweet. This gives me a good reason to work with my Graceful 6 x 6 Frame maker. I usually work on creating cards alone but spend one day of the week working on samples that will be used for the classes I conduct 4x a month. These classes are for the women’s church groups and the card clubs I belong to. Doing this prompts me to continue utilizing the massive amount of supplies I have and the continuing collection of dies. I also get to try out different layouts that I envision or have viewed elsewhere. And I’m always encouraging my friends to relax and sit awhile and create a card while we chat. If card making is not their calling then I can always get another type of project to work on that may interest them. I am a retired art teacher and have a room full of numerous craft supplies. Sharing time, a cup of coffee and crafting together makes for a strong friendship.ReplyCancel

Beautiful card, as always, Becca. When I’m making cards to send, I craft alone but I have been teaching craft on cruise ships for 12 years and through that encourage others. There have been lots of ladies who have never done any sort of craft before who get the bug after coming to my classes and many have stayed in touch with me. Quite a few tell me that I am responsible for a diminishing bank balance because of all the tools and materials they go out and buy!!

This card is beautiful. I have only just started crafting and can not afford alot but I get lots of inspiration from your cards. Thank you.ReplyCancel

  • LoisJune 9, 2017 - 5:50 am

I have never used washi tape and you make it look so easy. Again your card is beautiful and clever. Thank you. Any chance I get I will encourage people to make their own cards. I have four grandchildren who wipe me out of embellishments every time they come. Once one came with a card with at least $5 worth of embellishments on the card. She was so proud, and so was grandma. Thank you again.ReplyCancel

Wonderful card! I craft alone. All my crafty card-making friends have given up the hobby as being way too expensive. I still enjoy it, especially the joy I feel when I give or send a card to a friend or loved one.ReplyCancel

    GOOD MORNING DEAR LADY,
Love this card and remember when you introduced the die almost a year ago now. I of course purchased and have to admit that I usually only craft once a week and have not as yet used it. Going to real soon, maybe hubbies birthday card!
I craft with a group once a week and encourage all of these ladies to use my dies in their cards. We have added a few more people and sometimes when we give our cards, have people who want to learn to make cards so we promote it every chance we get.
Look forward to the blog hop on the 13th.
    Hugs

cool card and that die is on my wish list. I usually craft with friends. we have a group of 5 that gets together 3-4 times a year for a retreat at on of the ladies homes. plus I am in a card making group. I am a slow card maker. I wait for the inspiration the think on it then start to pull it together, then usually edit or totally change it them make it. or I sleep on it for a few days so that it’s what I really want then I don’t have the exact paper or color and run out to get that. I have invited many friends to join us. only a few have stuck with it. and I share your site for inspiration to anyone that will listen. I just love how you pull it all together. thanks!ReplyCancel

  • Joy MossJune 9, 2017 - 7:22 am

Thanks for the tutorial! I’m not a huge fan of washi tape because it doesn’t seem to stick very well to the project. So I use it to temporarily adhere projects to the various Big Shot plates. However, I will give this a try and see where I end up! But I love the end result of your project. The pink layers are so pretty!
Do I craft alone: Most of the time I craft along but once a month a few friends and I get together to create cards through stamping. We’ve become close over the years and greatly enjoy this time together.ReplyCancel

  • KathymJune 9, 2017 - 7:53 am

If someone wants to learn or craft together, I always say yes and make time. Some people see my cards and start taking up the craft on their own. I encourage others by saying “everyone has the creativity gene.” Just try and see where it takes you!ReplyCancel

  • Dianne Schlegel aka the kardladyJune 9, 2017 - 7:58 am

Thank you Becca for the how to and another beautiful card. I do like to craft alone – I don’t even like to have music or the TV on when I craft. I really like to focus on what I’m doing. A few years back (15 or so) I would make 25-75 of each card for my craft shows – as I cut down the craft shows, I cut down the amount of each I make. Now with the die cut cards, I make only one of a kinds – trying to add fabric into each one like I’ve always done because that’s my first love – fabric! There is so much out there and it’s so beautiful. I do like for others to be interested in what I create – there’s little tips and how to’s I’ve shared along the way but I’m still making them to retail them – I have a website and commission them in an art and frame shop but I give many away to friends and family also. Thanks for asking. Hugs DianneReplyCancel

BEAUTIFUL, BECCA! I too have quite a bit of washi tape & haven’t used much of it. I’m SURE I don’t have as much as you do though. LOL But, your card is WONDERFUL & I LOOOOVE your washi tape! DO TELL, WHERE you got it? ;) Yes, I craft alone. I have crafted with others, but I find I don’t get to do my craft when I am with others, for helping them. LOL I can actually make a card when I am by myself! OH YES, I encourage others to pick up this craft, as it has helped me in many ways! ;) It can help others, not only in taking up this craft for one’s self, but using what you’ve made for others… sending or giving a little love & encouragement! ;)It truly is touching to know that someone has thought of YOU & created a special gift/card JUST FOR YOU! But, you know all that! ;)ReplyCancel

Hi Clever Lady….lovely card Becca! God has certainly blessed you with an wonderful talent!!!! I mostly craft alone, but do belong to 3 card clubs so interact with these ladies. Also did teach classes before being Jim’s care giver…now that I have downsized and in a one bedroom apartment with my Studio set up along a 14′ wall – and, 3 closets full of organized supplies, I am ready to begin crafting again. Truly think still I have enough supplies to last me the rest of my life – even after the downsizing – LOL!

Such a gorgeous card! Thank you so much for sharing how you made it! I mostly craft alone, though my hubby helps me at times. When my grandchildren are here, we always do some type of crafting…depending on which ones are here, as I have four grandchildren different ages. A friend’s daughter came to craft with me one day and is planning on coming back. I always encourage anyone at any age to pick up a craft and for sure enjoy teaching others what I have learned myself.

    Happy Friday, Becca,
It sounds like you’re definitely not alone in the washi tape department. Thanks for inspiring us to get it out and use it!
For me, creating/crafting is primarily a solitary activity. In August, however, I am visiting my twin sister and we plan lots of time in her fabulous crafting room sharing a bunch of the ‘fun fold techniques’ that have captured my imagination. Can’t wait!
I’m excited about your blog hop next week, also. The Amazing Paper Grace Design Team is inspired, for sure!

Hi Bacca, this is lovely! I need to pull this die out & give it a try. I craft alone as I am time restricted, but my daughter does like to join me sometimes. I have rubbed off a little on her with the craft bug. I only do paper crafts, but am happy to see that she is interested in sewing as well. She has now started taking classes which comes to a surprise to a lot of people, as she is only 10. I am happy she has taken it up, as I was terrible at it lol & never gave it a chance, probably because I did not enjoy it. I winge about mending a button haha except if its for crafts lol I llok forward to your hop next week. Ooh I can’t wait for the new line!

    What a beautiful inspiring card!

As for myself, I tend to prefer to craft alone and it is because I suffer from many painful chronic illnesses. So even if I plan a day with fellow crafters I cannot guarantee that my body will cooperate on that day. Now I am diagnosed with Dysautonomia which means that my Automatic Involuntary Nervous system is failing. It ios the one that controls breathing, heart rate, blood pressure and muscles that we do not have to think about it happening it does it on its own.ReplyCancel

Beautiful card. I have this die and going to get it out and try this idea. You are so talented! I create cards alone. Once a month I join a stamp club group and we make 4 cards and enjoy a dinner together. I have encouraged my older sister to start “playing with paper” and she is now hooked! A dear friend always enjoyed the cards I made for her and now I have her hooked. We are getting together next week for a card making shopping trip. Can’t wait to take her to my favorite store. Your dies are on my list of items for her to purchase (I used one of your dies on her last card and she fell in love with it).ReplyCancel
