Crazy about Long Filigree Die Cut Cards

Card Making Ideas by Amazingpapergrace using Justrite Papercrafts – JustRite Custom Filigree Corners Die, Just The Right Words, Spellbinders Back to Basic Tags
Hi there blog friends!!  I’ hope you’ll indulge me, today I’m showing another sample.   If you’re interested in card making ideas don’t forget about long cards.  I’ve made tall upright card in the past but I’m partial to the wide long card, and remember that a 4-1/8″ x 9″ card fits perfectly into a #10 business size envelope.  Not sure why I don’t think to make this layout more often.  Today I’m  using JustRite Custom Filigree Corners die.  This time around I’m using the smaller of the two corners – it is the perfect size for many projects.  So, I figured out that by placing two of the corners together you can form a perfect square.  Since there’s a small hole along the middle of each side, when combined the two holes are a perfect distance to thread a trinket pin.  I pulled the Friend sentiment from Just The Right Words and tied it onto the bow after stamping onto a tiny tag from Spellbinders Back to Basics.  I say this all the time but I’m serious, this is a simple card!!
WRBF-3881-2013

Here’s your Step By Step recap of die cuts and layers stacked from the bottom up:  Start out with a Card Base 4-1/4″ x 9″,  foam tape, cream mat layer cut to 3-3/4″ x 8-1/2″, foam tape, green mat layer cut to  3-1/8″ x 7-7/8″, design paper layer cut to 3-1/4″ x 8″, foam tape, ribbon, three squares assembled from six small filigree corners, pearl flourish.   (This one is slightly oversized for a business envelope but most of my cards are sent in padded envies :-)

    Good morning Becca,
What a pretty card and an idea; use for “dull” corners that until now were only that. I love the colours that you have chosen and they match with the pretty paper just lovely. And just for a change i have all the ingredients to make a similar card, so thank you Becca for your beautiful inspiration.

  • Gayle in CanadaSeptember 14, 2013 - 10:07 am

I LOVE this card Becca..I’m always looking to make different shapes & never think of doing this size as a wide long card rather than upright. I also like the fact you used the Filigree Corner Dies as they are one of MY FAVORITEs.
I am almost done making an Anniversary card using the large corner Filigrees to make cones for roses and am just not getting them to look right. I’m hoping the bow on top covers most parts of them (just going to watch your tutorial on bow making.) I make dreadful bows. I may decide to do this card instead even though it won’t look as good. I think your hands are truly blessed. It has to be done by tomorrow and you don’t want to know how long it’s taken so far.ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,
I just LOVE your filigree corners and what you’ve done with them. All your cards are just so elegant! What a pity we won’t have my two favourite crafters on the shows tomorrow at C&C but I’m very grateful to see Sue Wilson back. So, one out of two ain’t bad. Could you see some occasion in the future where the two of you would team up?
The weatherfrogs have forecast serious rain and gales for Sunday, just THE PERFECT day to watch the shows with Sue and do some crafting afterwards.

Wow! Amazing Grace How sweet it looks…… I have just found your site & had to leave a comment for you. Your cards are so beautiful but more than that they have a quality of Peacefulness & Uniqueness about them that I’ve not seen anywhere else. I live on an island the smallness that many of you would find hard to comprehend, with no other crafters so I look on line for inspiration. May our Amazing God who knows all our needs bless & continue to guide and inspire you to continue to bless & inspire others with your work.

I have 1 question: Would it be possible to show a picture of each die you use, I for one find it hard to remember what die you’ve used as soon as I looked at a photo of the die I knew straight away. Sorry, it’s just a thought.

Good afternoon Becca from “across the pond”. It’s a blustery wet and very cold day here but fortunately I’m snug, in the warm, and watching Sue Wilson on her second show of the day. Coincidentally I was just looking at this beautiful card on TV and it looks absolutely stunning as always. I just wanted to congratulate you once again on your fabulous designs, which everybody is loving, and judging from all the emails received during the shows today I suspect you have made lots of new friends here in the UK.
