Blessed is the Influence

Good morning friends, popping in quickly to share a card I’ve had on my desk for some while. I picked up this lovely Spellbinders Renaissance Acanthus Leaf Background and I played one afternoon. It almost seems like adult coloring rendered from a die. For my first playing I simply embossed it and colored it in with color pencils, on other scraps I watercolored it. In the end I pulled out my trusty gold and decided to layer it onto a muted background with a piece of vellum from my stash. Lately I’ve been jonesing over vellum so that’s where my experimentation landed.

Background dies make the simple cards that look like you fussed and seem to be my ‘goto’ style when I’m not sure what I want to make.  As I dug through my stash of patterned vellum (which seem hard to find these days).  I thought the muted tones behind almost make it seem like you are looking through an elegant gate or perhaps stained glass.  I took an additional piece of white vellum cut with Spellbinders Baby Buntings  and stamped a sentiment to hover over top of a bow and mulberry flowers.

Oh so pretty! I love vellum, and you are right, patterned is getting more difficult to find, I think! That acanthus die sure is lovely, too. As always, the elements in this one all come together so nicely, Becca. TFS.

    Hi Becca,

So sorry I have not been on blogger recently so I have missed all you beautiful post of inspiration, they are stunning my friend. I hope things are okay for you over there in the states? I am not sure how things are going to go with blogger as things are changing at the end of the month where we will apparently lose all links to other blogs so I apologise in advance if I am unable to access your blog in the future, I really do hope this is not the case. So take care my friend and please do keep going with the beautiful creations you inspire everyone with.

    Love & hugs

Morning Becca, This card is really beautiful, the background die-cut is stunning, as is the vellum and the beautiful bow and flowers.
I’m afraid that Autumn is not one of my favourite seasons, I have a ‘thing’ about leaves, especially when they are wet, they are very dangerous !! I am constantly outside getting leaves off my garden, why oh why does the wind always blow ‘onto’ my garden hahaha.
Lots of love from Patricia xxReplyCancel

Soooo glad I dropped by to see this fabulous creation! Wonderful.
The temperature has dropped some 10 degrees celsius here, so a bit of a shock to the system after the mini heatwave last week! I love all the seasons, but autumn leaves turning can be quite stunning. My mother’s gift to me of a small tulip tree, was planted some years ago. It is now a sizeable specimen and the leaves are large and turning coppery gold – beautiful!
    Hugs
