Simple Sympathy

If you are looking for the blog candy you can read about the details on THIS post. Leave a comment and be sure you check in and grab the "Word of the Day for Double Play.

Hi there sweeties!  I thought I would share a sympathy card today.  I always barrel into making this sort of thing and then things come to a screeching halt for a minute while I second guess the colors.  I always think of sympathy cards being serene and elegant, so after several  color choices I decided on a white card with a punch of color.  I’m using one of the June releases from Our Daily Bread Designs and this set is called From Me To You.  The neat thing about this set is that you can segment out so many of the sentiments singularly or you can combine several.  It also give you lease to put a sentiment on the outside and another of the sentiments on the inside.

I created a frame using Spellbinders Rose Border Grand and edged it with the Renaissance Hearts Borderabilities and left it peeking out just a little bit then the last tier is edged with Ric Rac Borderabilities Petite.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs – From Me to You
Paper:  Marcos Cougar Opaque – White Cardstock
Ink:  Green Dye Based Ink
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Rose Border Grand, Spellbinders™ Ric Rac Diamond Borderabilities Petite, Spellbinders™ Renaissance Hearts Borderabilities Petite, Ribbon, Button

Hugs Friends, I’m working on a project but I’ve got some new things on the way :-)

Spools everywhere. Thought I would save them, then as the stacks got taller I thought I would save some……now the decision is they are all going into the burning pile.

What an unusual and pretty card with a really nice use of Spellbinders Dies. I like the way you used the Rose Borderabilities Grand die and nice that you have shown those of us who never would have thought of using it that way.
As I have said in my prior comments to you, you have great ideas and I for one appreciate it because I can absolutely say that I can and have learned something new each day (that you post) that I am on line.
    Bless you for the education.
Bless you for sharing your talent.ReplyCancel

I appreciate seeing new ways to use the dies. I have the rose die and have not thought beyond the obvious way to use it. It is a very soothing and quiet contemplative card I would be very comfortable sending. Thanks for your sharing!ReplyCancel

    OOOOH Becca,
This is absolutely gorgeous!!!!!!!! I for one am truly surprised that the Rose Border Grand is as large and beautiful. To look at it on spellbinders web page, it just looks gaudy. Should of known that you could turn anything in to absolute beauty. Really love this card.
Hubby must be doing much better.

    Hi Becca,
Love this sympathy card….so elegant and peaceful. I’m wondering how you mitered those corners on the frame. It’s probably very simple, but a picture might help me “see” the “how to”. Thanks again for sharing your talents.ReplyCancel

  • Michelle (mitch47)June 13, 2010 - 11:38 am

Wow Becca, your cards are gorgeous. From the first one I saw a while back (cute little baby card with ‘argyle’ CB embossing folder) to this lovely creation, each and every one is special! At my age, sympathy cards are needed more often than anything else, and I will case this (maybe several times) to have on hand when the need arises. Thank you for sharing your talent so graciously with us.ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca~

This is truly one of the most beautiful sympathy cards I have seen! I needed several sympathy cards last month. Two of them were on white glossy paper, and heat embossed with white powder. I never thought of adding a burst of color! It is so beautiful…I will be using this idea whenever I need one (hopefully not soon) in the future. Thanks for the idea!
