Riding Out The Storm

Do you know about 31 Days?

Hi there blog friends!  You all rock!  I mean it!  What a great start you’ve given to the 31 Days feature.    While I should have been busy creating, I was sitting right here reading your tips.  Amazing!!  Pace yourselves though, I hope there’s steady contribution of ideas all month.  Well, I actually sat here a little bit too long and once I was off to the studio there was time to make a quick card.  I’m using one of the new Our Daily Bread Designs sets called Anchor.

I simply love all the new Fancy Tags that were put out by Spellbinders.  I think they give so many layering possibilities and I tried one here.  I’m using Spellbinders Labels Twenty 0ne however I tucked two different tags from Spellbinders Fancy Tags Three behind it and then layered in on a larger cut layer of Labels Twenty One.  For the shading on the die cut I simply kept my paper in the die and sponged on color.  Simple, no?

SUPPLIES I USED

Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs – Anchor
Paper: The Paper Company, Coredinations, K & Company – Juliette
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, blue dye based ink
Accessories: Spellbinders Labels Twenty One, Spellbinders Fancy Tags Three, Ribbon, clear embossing powder

Keep those tips coming in!  I’ll see you soon!

    Greetings, Becca
Your site is the first one I check every day. You always have such beautiful designs! I love the ribbon treatment on today’s card, as well as the way you combined the different fancy tags. I love those dies. They’re so delicate looking. And, the sentiment you used is one of my favorites! Once again, thank you for sharing your creativity/talent with us. I’m a visual person (learner), and seeing your beautiful designs helps me so much (although I have to admit that I’ve never created anything near as beautiful as you)!ReplyCancel

  • Dianna N.February 8, 2011 - 9:46 am

    Becca,
I believe that because of all the outstanding ways you’ve used the Spellbinders dies to layer cards, the company must have started designing them with you in mind. Though there are many designers with beautiful ideas to make cards with the Spellbinders out there, it seems that no one layers cards as elegantly, or as intricately as do you! Thank you for so many, many variations.

This particular card reminds me of the way the rays of sunshine come through the clouds after a storm.
    Love it!

When new items come into your stamping room, get them settled in before working on a project – even if it is in progress. Get all items into your organization , modifying if necessary. I always say “It fits. I guess it was OK to buy.” Piles of unopened products aren’t ready to use and may get lost. Handling them nudges your memory when you need to pull something to use and eliminates the time barrier of having to open before using. Helps prevent buying repeats if you see your supplies regularly. Finally, for me , it is the thank you to God for giving me these fun “toys” to enjoy. Being a good steward is important to me and the putting away process is a celebration of thanks.ReplyCancel

You call this card simple? You have such an eye for layering your Spellbinder dies. I guess ones you figure out that part the card becomes simple?I have now this guessing game going on when I open your blog and look at a new card of yours. I am not going down to look which dies you used or stamps but try to guess first and figure it out myself. It is not easy at all…..but fun! I love this stamp set very much.ReplyCancel

This is so beautiful! It means so much to me! My beloved son passed away on Jan 1, 2011 at the age of 33 and I’m here to tell you that the Lord is here riding out the storm w/my husband and I!!! I praise Him for it even though, of course we prayed desparetly for the outcome to be different; He is here carrying us through. Right now, the footprints in the sand is only 1 set. I ask for anyone who will to please pray for us through this. The shock and numbness is wearing off and the pain is so bad! Thank you!!! CarolynReplyCancel

This card says it all. You have a dp. faith and it shows in your cards that you post. Some I have used for a sympathy card and it was so well received by the person who needed it at the time.
May God go with in the future in your posting of cards.ReplyCancel

  • Betty GoodsonFebruary 10, 2011 - 1:41 pm

Beautiful card Becca. One tip I use: My biggest challenge is coming up with the idea or design for a card. After I overcome that hurdle, I usually make several cards all at once. After all, they are being sent to different folks. I make one copy on my printer and write the names of who I sent to, the date, and what occasion and keep in a looseleaf binder. This is especially helpful in sympathy cards as I have one design I love to send. This isn’t for the “artist” cardmaker who comes up with ideas so easily, but for the rest of us who are challenged in that area, but still want to show others we care.ReplyCancel

    Beautiful Card, as always.

I am grateful for: a family that loves and values me and that I love and value.
A country that always seems to rise from the ashes
Countrymen who rush to the aid of other when disaster strikes
    Friends who just are….friends.
The G-d who makes all of the above possible.

    Be well,
