Houndstooth - New Cuttlebug Embossing Folder!

Posted by Becca Feeken on Saturday, July 26th, 2008

Can you tell that I’m having a ball working with these new folders?  I neglected the old ones so I’m really excited to have something new to play with and I’ve enjoyed the challenge trying to do something different, not anticipated, with each one.  Of all the folders (believe it or not), this one really had me stumped.  When you think of houndstooth, you think of dark colors, fall attire, perhaps a masculine flavor.  After coloring up a few samples on dark colored paper, I decided to do the houndstooth in pink!!  I felt it would be a fair companion to the little boy card I did a couple of days ago.

As with the other samples this week, I decided to use chalks - even for the little girls dress.  I wanted the card and images to appear soft and I think that’s an easy order to fill with chalks.  Again, for the clean simple look I used Fabriano Acquarello watercolor paper layered with a pink metallic cardstock.   I used another Fiskar border to make the top seem like a lacy valance and embellished with small white pearls and finally, ribbon.

Bless you today and through the weekend.  I hope you find and embrace joy in your living.

Becca, I am responding on this one but if I look at the body of work that you have done with these new CB folders — Wow — is all I can say. You have really made them work! I love your design style anyway, but you have really made the element of the background come to the foreground, yet on the ones that had another primary element it just blends so seemlessly. You win an award for excellence in elegance. (don’t expect a lot of prizes as a result of this award, since I just made it up, I haven’t had a chance to get a lot of sponsors yet :o) ) Thanks as always for sharing~

Oh My ! Becca ! Just love looking at all your new CB folders in action ! stunning they are here !

I’m on the verge of hitting the order button for 8 different folders in this new release but thought of waiting to see some sampes before I do so - while they are pretty I thought they might be a little challenging to use compared to the first series of folders released.

Did you not get the folders with the borders too ? just wondering ! can’t wait to see more Cuttlebugged creations from you !

WOW!! I just found your blog, and I am in AWE!! You are truly AMAZING!! :)

Could you tell me how you actually apply the chalk to your embossed items after running the paper through the Cuttlebug? (Here, you used pink chalk on the Houndstooth folder.) Are you using regular chalks that scrappers/stampers use? Do you just rub it on each of the raised sections? Your card looks so beautiful that I can’t believe it is that simple!!

I would love to order this folder. If you say that I can probably get even close to the same results as yours, I’m definitely buying it!! :)

    Thanks for the inspiration!!

    Judy

Hi, it is me again. We have been studying your casrd with the little girls dress. I love it.!! The piece that says Sweet girl. I think you said it was a sisix die and I can’t find it on their web site. They don’t even have anything that looks like that. We went to Michals last night and they do have a few papers by the paper company but don’t have any with the colors that you use. Where do you find them? do you order from the Paper Company? I can’t find anyone in the Portland-Vancouver area that carry Paper Company paper. I love the colors that you use. Also we tryed to use the border punches with the watercolor paper and it does not work. I love your blog and am on it everyday. You have a large fallowing in this area. Thanks, your stuff is Great!!!
