Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design Home Congrats Set and Spellbinders Oval Regalia and Pierced Ovals - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Good morning sweet friends!  Hope you all are safe and sound especially if you are affected by the east coast blizzard.  Today I’m sharing a simple new card with a frilly layering that looks like lace – I’m pleased as punch so of course I’ll share the details.  Inspiration started with the sentiment from Quietfire Design from their Home – Congratulations  set. The sentiment fit perfectly inside Spellbinders Pierced Ovals.
WRBF-4880-2016
I wanted something to give the card lots of charm so I cut two Spellbinders Oval Regalia (along with Spellbinders Classic Ovals SM to create a frame) then cut them in half.  They are simply stacked one on top of the other and glued at one place in the center of each tier then the four glued together pieces were placed just above the bottom of the card.  To me, it looks just like a lace border.  I added an oval shaped frame cut using Spellbinders Pierced Ovals and finished off with flourishes in each corner using Spellbinders Corner Flourish on the top two corners.   That’s it . . . really!  A couple of snip snips and you’re in business.

WR-Supplies
Rubber Stamps: Quietfire Design – Home – Congratulations
Craft Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Natural White – 80lb smooth, Kraft Paper
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories:  Spellbinders Oval Regalia, Spellbinders Corner Flourish, Spellbinders Pierced Ovals, May Arts Silk Ribbon, Recollection Pearls

Thank you for sharing this die technique, Becca. A good reminder that dies can be used in many different ways if we just let our minds think outside of the box.
This card is so beautiful! Elegant but not too fussy. Gently understated elegance, I think.ReplyCancel

A beautiful lacy card today adorned with one of your gorgeous silk bows. I wish my “kraft” colored cards looked as lovely as your “kraft” colored cards. Thank you for sharing your creation today. It has snowed here in the mountains and I have so far moved, since Thursday: 21 1/2 inches of white fluffy snow from my front deck. It is still snowing with big winds blowing through making the temperature below zero. Brrrrrr.ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca,

What a stunning card, love all the layers, they really do sell themselves as lace, beautiful. Loved yesterdays card, who would have thought that those beautiful delicate flowers would be from the pine cone die, amazing, such lovely creations.

I really must try this year to check your blog each day as I really look forward to your posts and I keep missing them lol! At the moment I am struggling on a very old laptop as my PC died today, thankfully I save everything to an external hard drive!

    Until your next post

    Love & hugs

Hi Becca, Who’d of thought of cutting two perfect filigree oval die cuts in half and matching them with a simple, plain pierced oval? Well, Becca would and it looks great–not mismatched or off balance. Of, course, the bow goes a long way to make anything look great. Thanks for doing something different, and I love it. I really appreciate you using previously released dies. It makes me want to tap into my stash of untried dies and not hesitate to add new dies to my full collection. Thanks, again. Dearest Becca, I absolutely love you! Each time I open my email from you and read the words “sweet friends” my face smiles and my heart is warm. On a day like today in Somerset, New Jersey, I can use a little warmth. I adore the cocoa and white card, so dainty. I especially love the cocoa and caramel ribbon. I checked out May Art Ribbon Store, but couldn’t exactly put my cursor on the exact ribbon you tied onto this gorgeous card. Any chance you may have an ID number? I am in the throes of making Menus and Place Cards for my Grandson’s wedding reception and thought the same ribbon in blue would be perfect for the ensemble I chose. Thank you so very much, but I understand if you cannot read all of your email. Hugs, SaraReplyCancel

Been missing for a bit, but as I was looking back to see what you’ve been up to I was pleased to see you hitting hard with your creativity. You’re a great teacher. I hope you know that. I have prized my dies and their pristine cuts the way they come out of my Grand Calibur trying the use them in innovative ways as you do. Then you change the playing field and start cutting up the die cuts. W-H-A-T!!!!! Now I’ve got to toughen up and envision how to C-U-T up my beauties into new design pieces. Thanks for the push, because this card is gorgeous! Following your lead. (:~0)ReplyCancel
