Day of Giving Friday: Roses in December

Card making ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design - God Gave Us Memory and Spellbinder Amazing Paper Grace Intertwined Spirals - fully supply list and instructions at www.amazingpapergrace.com
Hello friends!  I hope today finds you safe, well and happy.  So much happens in a week and I know with the crazy weather of late, many of you may be hunkering down for the Labor Day Weekend.   Today is Day of Giving Friday and today I’m sharing one of my favorite sentiments – it was one that I included in one of my past kits and this new one was beautifully penned by Suzanne Cannon with Quietfire Design.  What a lovely statement about the power that memory has to evoke something so very lovely . . . a flower, a song, the thought of a loved one.  That’s within our power; queue up those lovely memories!

My card today is simple, two dies;  I’m using a die I designed called Spellbinders Intertwined Spirals and within the lower part of the aperature I filled in with a filigree corner die.  Any large corner die should work

Walk Through on How to Make Card

Base

The card base is 7″ x 7″ (custom envelope make with the Envelope Punch Board).  Easily downsizes to 6″ x 6″.

Focal Panel

On top of my card base I added a panel 6-5/8″ x 6-5/8″ followed by a panel 6″ x 6″.

Next  I added my diecut panel with Spellbinders Intertwined Spirals, cut as an inlay, including the circle and trimmed it down to 5-3/4″ x 5-3/4″  On the lower part of the circle I added Amazing Paper Grace Filigree Corners die (retired) to fill in.

Embellishment

I finished up with a triple bow,  pearl button and a spray of mulberry roses.

Today is the most gorgeous day we’ve had in so very long!!  What a miracle seeing as a hurricane came through here last night.  It’s truly the beauty after the storm.  Have a lovely holiday weekend friends and a lovely weekend to my friends abroad.  See you soon!!

Love the gold, white, and rose colors of the card! The design is beautiful! My favorite roses in December is the memory of my father who died Thanksgiving weekend 2001. The pain is gone so I am able to think about him and his joking around with my husband and children. He really liked to ‘stir the pot’ so to speak!ReplyCancel

What a stunning card. I love that die is awesome cut in the gold. What a wonderful sentiment. My rose in December is my mom who died 26 years ago last week. Her health caused her to retire a bit early and she didn’t get to do all the wonderful things she’d planned to do. But we had so many wonderful times together when she was younger and more active. I miss her all the time, but especially at this time of year.ReplyCancel

My “roses” are all of the fun times I’ve had with my dogs, here and past. They are my fur ‘kids’… each of them have very special places in my heart. Remembering funny things they did just makes me smile, sometimes at odd times, and usually when I need it most.ReplyCancel

This is why you’re such an amazing grace, Becca,
What a beautiful reminder that there is beauty after the storm and that, for every painful memory, there is a rose in our garden. This comes to me at a perfect time. I am heading into the seasons of my life that are punctuated with many losses. Today, I received a gentle nudge to know that beauty is everywhere. What a blessing.
Thank you for making my day, once again!

A lovely card made with your awesome die that you designed for Spellbinders called “Intertwined Spirals”. The sentiment is just perfect for reflexion on one’s special memories and loved ones. My December “Roses” are memories of those special times and interactions with family members and friends, including those Candlelight Church services at midnight on Christmas Eve/Christmas Day. What a special time in my memory. Thank God I can still remember how I felt, how much I was loved, and who I was sharing those times with. So glad you did okay with the hurricane coming though your area of Florida. How does it feel to be walking on two feet again? Wishing you a wonderful Labor Day weekend.ReplyCancel

    Dear Becca,
I have lots of roses in December memories of the times I spent with our group the rubber ladies! However, my fondest memory is when my dad drove me to our Christmas party and had lunch with us. He finally understood why I liked going to our get togethers and enjoyed making cards so much.ReplyCancel

My sweetest memories are of my precious grandparents. I have a “gardenia in November”. A sweet friend sent a gorgeous gardenia bush to grandma’s funeral, wishing that it belong to me after the service. It’s planted in my flowerbed, and it frequently blooms on my birthday in November. I consider it a sweet reminder of God’s love, and I thank Him for my dear ones and for His grace in allowing Jesus to redeem us that we might one day be with Him and the rest of the Body of Christ.ReplyCancel

I’m in the midst of canning tomatoes. This alwlays makes me think of my Mother. We had 9 of us kids in our family and Mom and Dad had two huge gardens and Mom spent many hours canning tomatoes and other fruits and vegetables to feed us during the winter months. Never realized how much work she did until I got married and started a family myself. I love your card today and really would love to win it. We just buried my sister’s 23 year old grandson. He was coming home from work and fell asleep at the wheel and left the road and hit a tree, killing him. This same family had a horrible accident when their 10 month old daughter drowned in the bathtub. She was revived and ever since has been a complete vegetable. She never learned to talk or walk, has known nothing but pain for the last 20 years. This family could really use prayers. I feel so badly for them and I know this beautiful card with that beautiful sentiment would be perfect for them. Thank you so much for sharing with us.ReplyCancel

Posted yesterday about the beauty of this card but not my December roses. It has to be Christmas morning and searching the already over decorated tree for yet more decorations. They always brought back decorations, plus sausages, bacon and black and white pudding from Alhausens for breakfast on Christmas and Boxing Day.ReplyCancel

Today’s card is truly one of my favorites. I loved it when you first featured it and have ‘copied’ your design several times. Thank you for sharing your creations. One of my December roses is my best friend. I have many beautiful memories of the times spent together….raising our families, camping adventures, interest classes, exercising and saunas, food sampling at fairs, the many times she served as my taxi to my chemo and radiation treatments and held my hand after the many surgeries. Today I can only hold her hand and talk to her without expecting a response. She suffered a major stroke and cannot speak or move but I’m sure she is aware of my presence. I miss my friend but I still have her here on earth.ReplyCancel

Oh dear I forgot to comment on this week’s memory.
Christmas as a child has to be my all time favorite memory, since my birthday is on the 24th. I received Merry Christmas/Happy Birthday gifts. But get this…my Mother’s birthday was on the 27th, but the person that signed her birth certificate made the 7 look like a 4. Calligraphy was popular in the 1900s. So we celebrated the day together. So special. Thank you for asking. SaraReplyCancel
