Day of Giving Friday: Day by Day

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design - You May Not Be Able to Leave Your Children, Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Squares, Spellbinders Lacey Squares - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Good morning sweet friends!  A short post today and a card to give away.  I hope you’ve had a wonderful week.  Today finds me very quiet after having a couple of down days being sick.  Thank goodness it didn’t last long because I’m working on new things in the background and need to play a little catch up here :-)
Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design - You May Not Be Able to Leave Your Children, Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Squares, Spellbinders Lacey Squares - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Sometimes people ask if I make simple cards – yep, this is it!  Just two dies and lots of fiber.  I used Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Squares and on top stacked Spellbinders Lacey Squares.  This is a classic anchor in my stash and you can see similar samples HERE.  I used a beautiful sentiment from Quietfire Design – lovely for a card but I hold the hope that I’ll one day design a scrapbook page with these profound words :-)

    Hi Becca,

Lovely to read another post from you I do hope the sickness has now gone.

Stunning creation and I do love the sentiment, so true. What’s on my mind…Mmmm I need to find another job lol! I have really had enough of the job I am in but my age is against me getting anything else even though I still have 10 years before I retire!!! Oh to find a job doing something I love lol!

    Have a great day

Good morning, Becca! Sorry to hear you were ill, but very glad to hear you are now feeling better.

This is a lovely card, as always. I adore all the textures! Definitely my style. ?

Today I am thinking of & planning out how to finish all the chores I have left on my plate. Had some work done in my home, which of course is nice to have completed. But it does leave unfinished items which will bug me until I finish them! So that’s what is on my mind this lovely morning.

    Have a wonderful day, Becca!ReplyCancel

Becca, your card is DELIGHTFUL with just the right sentiment to provoke thought and to make us want to improve!
Happy to hear you are taking it easy after being sick…prayers that you are definitely on your way to full recovery as you are one busy lady.
Thank you for always being an inspiration….and for making us think about what we are doing and feeling.
Today, I am thinking about making a special card for a dear friend who just lost her husband of 60+ years of marriage…already mailed a sympathy card. She is in town for a second Memorial service as her husband pastored our church for a number of years, then was Associate Pastor (after he retired) well into his 80’s. Will get to have lunch with her while she is here on Monday and want a special card – just for her.
    Paper Hugs,

Good Afternoon Becca; I hope you are feeling much better. I’ve always loved your work but I’ve never commented. I’m always talking to you through my laptop. What’s on my mind? My dining room table is my work space. I need to stop all crafting and de-clutter because for everything I remove, I add more before table is clean. Hopefully, this will be my weekend “job”. • RaquelJune 10, 2016 - 11:28 am

Oh Becca what a wonderful question: What is on your mind. At this time I have to say my son and daughter in law have been trying to get pregnant-my daughter in law has gone thru so much-and yet she has so much faith and after 7 years of struggle-they are pregnant-with TWINS. My daughter in law is such a beautiful-caring and loving young lady. She has been having some severe morning sickness and of course some bleeding. She is in her 11th week and those precious little babies are holding on. They are growing but there is still the danger of a miscarriage. So my dear friend my mind has been filled with happiness but some worry. Praying that they do survive and that she can carry them to full term if God wants. Keep her and those precious tiny babies in your prayers. Have a wonderful and blessed weekend. RaquelReplyCancel

  • Judy InukaiJune 10, 2016 - 11:35 am

What a beautiful card and a wonderful sentiment. I really like how the Lacey Squares and Fleur de Lis squares work together – never thought of those two together. What’s on my mind is redoing my craft room. I had to empty part of it out so the cable guy could get to the TV, now I’m trying to decide how I want it rearranged. I have a chair I want to move out, but it will involve emptying and moving a bookcase and it just snowballs from there.ReplyCancel

Hi Becca. Sorry to hear you have been poorly. Glad you are better now. I’ve been suffering with bad hay fever this week as the pollen count here has been very high. Love your card. You call it simple but it doesn’t look it! It’s lovely. What’s on my mind? All my things on my To Do list. Just as I clear one action another 2 gets added on! I think I am winning after hitting my list today. I am planning a crafty day tomorrow starting with some craft shopping and a demo before getting in my craft room to play. I made my first gift bag using your die a few days ago and I was very pleased with it. Think it will be a fave die that sits on my desk as it will be in frequent use. Happy weekend.ReplyCancel

Good morning, Becca. What you call a simple card is certainly different than most definitions, but I love it just the same. And this is one of my favorite Quietfire sayings as well and I use it for comfort on some occasions for sympathy cards. My thoughts today are on plans around my 70th birthday party and all the joy it will hold. It is three months away and will not be on my actual birthday so that guests can travel safely to help celebrate. I was thinking today–life is good when you have friends and family to help with the journey.ReplyCancel

Your cards are always an inspiration for me to not give up this card making hobby. I know that my cards are starting to look more ‘professional’ (at least that’s what my gfs say) and elegant….thanks to you. What’s on my mind today is to set up a plan for the two weeks my grandchildren will be spending their summer vacation with us. They always are so excited to come here and we thrill at the thought of spending this time with them. We don’t see them often so we try to max out all the time with craft projects, hikes, swimming, camping in the back yard and biking. Of course, at the end of this vacation we are exhausted but the memories made are worth every ounce of tiredness.ReplyCancel

Hello! Becca, your card is gorgeous, as always! Glad you’re feeling better – it’s no fun at all to feel sick. Ironically, what’s on my mind is my daughter. She’s a military wife and has a two year old, and a 5 week old, and they are preparing for a military move. Their household goods have been picked up and shipped off, and the toddler is feeling out of sorts. None of her toys, her own bed gone, and all the other confusion of this move has our daughter feeling like she’s ‘not a good mom’. When I read your sentiment, I thought that’s what she needs to hear! Thanks for the inspiration :)ReplyCancel

Along those lines, my two choral groups are heading into our summer hiatus. I am ready to recharge and look forward to what the summer holds in store. My twin sister is coming for a visit and I will take some vacation time while she is here – can’t wait!

Something about lace or canvass or material added to a card or project just make you feel more connected to the artist or maker. What is on my mind: What will they find when I have my ultrasound on my rib cage the 15th (one doctor thinks it is just Lipomas in the spaces between the rib bones with one large one wrapping around my right side) and what will they find in my Left Hip on the MRI on 7-8-2016. The last MRI I had they thought it was either Giant Cell Tumor or a Rare Cancer called Chondroblastoma.

But as scared as I am– I am trusting God either way.

I do have a request though, I want to be put on every prayer chain list across the world, please. My Husband needs me. Please pray that his vision would be restored as well. This is war and I do battle on my knees with the Word of God. I am asking for Prayer Warriors to join me.ReplyCancel

Sadness (lost two friends in two days), working on organizing my craft room, trying to reach my “long arm quilter” to quilt my grandson’s quilt, so, so many things. But most of all, I am so thankful for family, friends, and the many blessings I haveReplyCancel

Beautiful sentiment and card. How did you get the swirls of pearls on? I find it very difficult to get them on and still keep the pattern. What’s on my mind…..so many things. I thought when I retired I would be up to date on everything but I find I am further behind than ever. I have been really thinking about it.ReplyCancel

Beautiful card and a wonderful text, which i have copied into my ‘thoughts to treasure book’. There are quite a few from you in it.

My daughter in law and son are weighing heavy on my mind. She has breast cancer only diagnosed in March and already it has spread to her bones…… They have put her into early menopause and are switching off her ovaries so there dreams of a family are dashed too.
This week i can’t see beyond the blackness of it all…..much prayer needed please.ReplyCancel

You always inspired and today is no different with this stunning card with a lovely sentiment. Happy to hear you are feeling better. I will be praying for your full recovery.
On my mind is mu hubby, Gene. We are getting ready to head to Minnesota so he can have a specialized open heart surgery at Mayo. It’s a surgery that is done only at specific hospitals. I’m so thankful there is a surgery to help him but it’s scary to think of him going through this. Prayers are much appreciated! Surgery is June 22 but we are going early to spend time with my daughter who lives there.ReplyCancel

Simply, you are inspiring! What’s on my mind? Sadness for my brothers & sisters. When mom died they took whatever they wanted. I now forgive them but won’t forget. My life is much more serene without their drama!ReplyCancel

Gratitude is on my mind today and every day. I am grateful for the feeling of having “enough. We are not independently wealthy from a financial standpoint, but we do have a comfortable life. Sure there are things we’d like to change, and one day will, however, right here, right now we have enough. And for this I give thanks!!ReplyCancel

Hi Becca, Here’s hoping you are feeling much better now.
This card is gorgeous !! and the sentiment is very profound, I love it. I love the lace too, it adds a pretty ‘elegance’ to your card.
What’s on my mind – the lack of time for the amount of tasks that I need to do !!

On my mind today is relieving my husband of summer project of stripping off the old stain on our deck. He is older and has taken on a job too much for him, but you know how some men are. I know the signs when he is fatigued and his back is hurting so it is time for me to step in and say I am through doing what I wanted today so what can I do for you. He doesn’t want to bother me with his summer project but at the same time it is better to know when to take over. We have been married 48 yrs. for better or worse and we do it together. Amen to that.Becca the sentiment on this card is wonderful and so true. Thank you.ReplyCancel

    Becca,
So sorry you have been sick. What is on my mind now? Well my daughter (Special needs) had surgery last Tuesday and came through in stellar manner. On returning home from hospital Wednesday, received a call Wed. evening that my sister in Ohio had fallen and broke her hip. So the two of them are on my mind and my prayers.
Today’s card is beautiful as always. My favorite day of the week is Friday when your day of giving card is shown. I never miss it.
