Bring Back Beautiful #1

by on August 2, 2010

Hi all and welcome to the very first Flourishes Bring Back Beautiful Challenge!  This team was started by Flourishes to truly showcase beauty in card making – whether it just be in a beautifully colored image, a fabulous way to incorporate an embellishment or a new twist on a card layout. Today kicks off our first challenge with a look at one of the things that can evoke a lot of beauty in card making – COLOR!

Here’s your challenge: pick your favorite medium – watercolor, colored pencils, markers, alcohol inks… the sky is the limit!  Show off your color and join us!  Link up your Bringing Back Beautiful Challenge creation HERE to enter.  If you upload to SCS, please use the keyword BBB01. You have until August 31st  to enter! As we unveil our challenge for September, we’ll share our True Beauties – those card makers who wowed us with this challenge!  Winners will be featured on the Flourishes Blog and will receive a True Beauty blog button to display proudly on their blog!

For my card today, my inspiration was this wonderful Anna Griffin paper.  I knew with rosy tones it would be a perfect match for the roses from Flourishes Year In Flowers 2 colored with Copic Markers.  The focal panel of the card is set on Spellbinders Curved Rectangles and a layered frame created using Standard Circles LG and Standard Circles SM.  Then I used one of the new Spellbinder die templates called Lacey Circles – it is interlaced with a swirly companion piece from Spellbinders Fanciful Holiday.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Flourishes – Year In Flowers 2
Paper:  Anna Griffin, Bazzill, Coredinations
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Spellbinders™ Curved Rectangles, Spellbinders™ Standard Circles LG, Spellbinders™ Standard Circles SM, Spellbinders™ Lacey Circles, Spellbinders™ Fanciful Holiday, May Arts Ribbon, Pearl, Copic Markers

I hope you’ll join in and create a card that Brings Back Beautiful.  Don’t forget to hop around and see the cards created by all the other Beauty Girls.

Becca, you never cease to amaze me with what you can do with a punch or a die — this frame is a true wow– and you make it look so easy, even though I know it’s not! Love the beautiful roses nested inside. The word regal doesn’t even begin to cover it! :-)

A super work of art Becca!! Just beautiful!
Did you use a scalloped circle spellbinder for the inner circle? I’m not quite understanding it all.
I agree… a video tutorial on this one would be great!
Your an inspiration to sooooo many!!! :)

My word, lady, I don’t know how you do it! But I sure am glad you do. The interwoven frame is fantastic. You really know how to manipulate paper. And the little hearts in the corners – are they punch-outs from a photo-corner punch? TFS

Becca, you’ve done it again! Made me look at the elements of the die cut sets in a whole new way. I swear I look at some things and think what am I ever going to do with that? Then you show me some creative way to use it! You really do think outside the box. Can I be you when I grow up????!!!
