Believe in Miracles

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Quietfire Design - If You Don
Popping in again today to share some of my creative musings.  I’ve had this card almost ready to go for months – you’ve had this happen.  It of course looked very different and it needed ‘something’.  I loaded on flowers, took them off . . . waltzed individual items from one corner to another and in the end what it needed was a little simplification.  I think that ordinarily this might be one that I didn’t share, but I realized how much that  scenario mimics life and it made me smile.   How many times do we think we need to add something, pile on when the order of the day is to slow down, reduce the noise and clutter and exist simply?  Well, my card is a simple one today, I left the piles of flowers and embellishments off because it just needed to be simple.

My card is 5-1/2″ x 7-1/2″ and is decorated with paper from my stash that reminded me of retro wallpaper that you might find in an older house.  I still think it’s charming so I decided to make it into a card.  I simply added layers and highlighted the beautiful Quietfire Design sentiment (If You Don’t Believe in Miracles) with pieces of Spellbinders Deco Lux to make the panel pop.  I cut the die template in half, scored it so that it would fold over my panel and trimmed the strips down to size.  I love using small pieces of die templates when perhaps the original might overwhelm plus its just another way to get mileage out of your dies.  For the sentiment, just to give it a little bit of interest, I layered on three shades of blue to get a subtle ombre effect.

In the end, one prim satin bow weights down the bottom – just like I like it :-)

When I opened your blog, I saw a card in grey, white and black that thought – Wow, this is a change! Then I looked carefully and there is blue in it. Still, it looks a lot different from many of your other cards. Love it. Thanks so much.ReplyCancel

Your card seemed familiar to me and then I realized that I had just given my Anna Griffin papers to a teacher for her Special Needs class. I love the soft purples. But more than loving your card today, I absolutely love the comment you made…
    slow yourself down,
    reduce the
    noise & clutter
    exist simply
…I have made a sign for my craft room and hung it with ribbon. The cadence of this is so much like HAIKU that I couldn’t resist adding a word so that it came out 4-7-4. God bless. Can’t wait until Friday’s Day of Giving from you. Hugs,

Simply put: Beautiful! Your treatment of folding over the die cut is interesting. You think “out of the box”! When you make and add one of you gorgeous bows to your cards, there really is no need to embellish much more than the bow. I’m still trying to make the “Becca bow”.ReplyCancel

Honestly, your Becca Bows are the best in the land. I really have tried to duplicate them, have watched your videos on you-tube until I am blue in the face but I just do not have that particular ability.

This card is so lovely, the use of the old fashioned paper and the blue frames & pearls is astonishingly beautiful, but then again I pretty much love everything you do.

    Thanks for you being you.ReplyCancel

    GOod morning lovely Becca,
What a beautiful card this is and i think perfect with the sentiment you have chosen. For me the sentiment itself says simple as that makes the statement without shouting it from the roof tops. I don’t know which way around i want to go, whether Quietfire made the design especially with you in mind or whether you made the card with them in mind, either way it is a beautiful card and just perfect the way it is. I love the big satin bow that you have put on the bottom as it just finshes it off nicely in my mind. Thank you flower for such a lovely simple ease into the weekend.
    Love and crafty hugs
