Become a Child Again

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders Reverent Square and Quietfire Design Our Hearts Grow Tender- www.amazingpapergrace.com
Good morning dear friends!   I received a sweet, sweet Christmas saying from my friends at Quietfire Design called Our Hearts Grow Tender and immediately began looking through dies for something to show it off in hopes of doing it a small measure of justice.  Coincidentally, I have ‘new to me’ dies sitting on the counter and was simply awestruck by Spellbinders Reverent Square.  I also used Spellbinders Layered Poinsettia, a staple in my stash!  Lets just say that I fell in love at first cut and played around and dreamed – that’s really how it goes.  I’m a die lover and there’s always a moment before it’s first cut that is filled with the anticipation of  what you’re going to get.  Better than a box of chocolates!  As a creative, it’s a blessing, others call it therapy :-)  I’m creating a lot these days, but this kind of playing around keeps me grounded.

This is a simple card – truly the die and stamps do all the work.  I decided to minc Spellbinders Reverent Square, but it’s just as easy to cut it in gold.  If you don’t have a minc machine – no worries – it’s just a tool I really like to use but simply cutting the die in gold is so close to mincing that you really have to look to tell the difference.  It’s so subtle but essentially you get the same look, just different highlights – I snapped a picture to show you the difference below.

Oh, and I thought the occasion called for a sweet tag using the Layered Poinsettia and Spellbinders Mary Border Strip :-)

    Becca,
I just wish you would do Christmas cards every day, LOL! I get so much joy out of seeing your blog come onto my computer and knowing that I am going to just love what you create.
I usually blog-lift your most beautiful (in this year’s case-this one) and make it for my only sibling, my sister. Although I don’t have a minc machine, I will just cut it in gold and hope for the best! Utterly georgous and love the sentiment which will be very apropo (sp) for my sister card. Thanks for sharing.\

I so Love this one! So gorgeous! The saying reminds me of one that would have been said in Victorian Times when Romance abounded. I think that is what snagged me first. The little tag is darling, too.ReplyCancel

There are soo many dies that I pass up simply because I have no imagination and can’t see how pretty they are. Then someone shows me what they look like when cut out and there it goes on my wish list. Thank you for sharing this beautiful card.ReplyCancel

Beautiful card. You did the Quietfire stamp justice! The Quietfire sentiment you used on this card is a wonderful sentiment. It must be new for I have not seen it before. And the Spellbinders Reverent Square die is awesome. Makes me wish I had not finished my Christmas cards! Something to think about for next year. Are you still singing Christmas carols? You go girl!ReplyCancel

I love dies too, Becca! I enjoy collecting them and love love watching the cutout emerge from my machine the first time and each time I cut using different materials or pattern paper. It’s such a delight! I love the pure elegance of this stunning card. I wish I had a better word because stunning doesn’t do it justice. The sentiment is beautiful and just adds to the beauty of the card. Spellbinders poinsettia dies are a favorite of mine and your flowers are lovely in bright red. The perfect touch.
I am always inspired by your creativity and really appreciate when you share your creative process. Blessings to you!ReplyCancel

    Good morning Becca,
Oh i do love it when we get a truly Becca card with all the bells and whistles on it and this one is no exception, it is stunning flower. You always make such elegent cards and projects that seem to come from a time long ago when elegence was how things were done and made and lasted the test of time because of it. I will content myself on cutting out gold card as i can’t afford to get both lazer printer and foiling machine. I know that the libraries have photocoping machines but they charge a small fortune to print something off and we don’t have across here like you do in the States the office supply shops that let you try things out but i can get the same pleasure just using gold card. Thank you flower for bringing such beauty to our eyes.
    Love and crafty hugs
