Day 22 – 30 Days of Giving

LGBF-4163-2014
Squeal, Day 22!!  Wow :-)  Can I tell you this is doing me so much good.  Some of these cards were sitting in my stash forgotten and as I pull them out, I remember making each and every one.  Not only that – some days when I sit to the craft table my mind goes blank – what am I going to do new?  Well pulling these cards out, it makes remember little things I’ve done in the past, and I think hmmm, I’ll have to try that again :-)

If you’re new to the blog, welcome to my 30 Days of Giving – every day during the month of July I’m giving away a handmade card – you can read all the specifics HERE.  You can check to see if you’ve won a card by searching for your name on the Giveaway Winners page.  You get there by the menu at the top of the page – put your cursor on Features then look down the list and select Giveaway Winners.

For today’s comment –  I’m grateful for you, this community, and that we let and make each other feel so fabulous.  What’s making you happy today?

The card that’s being given away today is shown above.  Just a note – this is a card that has been shown before and there is a possibility that some of the supplies that were used are currently discontinued, no doubt there will be something you can substitute – have a look through my galleries for alternative ideas.  Many things can still be found on the open market, just google and you’ll find that many retailers are still selling.

    Hi Becca!

Oh how stunning the gold foil is on white. Does it get any classier? I don’t think so!

    What makes me happy?

I do not have to think twice….I LOVE GOD and I love MY HUSBAND (22 years later, I simply LOVE my best friend!) and I love my 3 daughters! They all make me happy!

Love the card, knowing that God is in my life. That God will be here for me during the good times and bad times. That when I hand my problems over to him I can trust that he will take care of them for me even if not the way I think but trusting that his way is better. It is hard to do that but when I do I have a peace that is so awesome. I am so glad that you are a follow Christian!!ReplyCancel

Another beautiful card Becca! What makes me happy today is that shortly I’ll be heading out of town to meet up with my sister for lunch and then we will go to see my mother who is temporarily in a nursing home. She suffers from dementia, but in a week or so we’ll be bringing her back to her apartment where she will have 24/7 care and hopefully spend the rest of her life there with her companion of 20+ years.ReplyCancel

What an elegant card today! Thank you for inspiring all of us with your many beautiful cards. What makes me happy? I have truly been blessed. God has given me a second chance to make a difference as I remain cancer free for 5 years now. I try my best to be positive and make a difference in other peoples lives. I do my best to have a smile on my face at all times. During my “darkest days” my husband, sons, daughter-in-law and other family members were by my side every step of the way. My faith kept me strong as I avoided the “valley of death”. God was my rod, he stilled the waters, and he restored my soul. I would never wish anyone to have cancer, but it sure puts things in perceptive of what is truly important! I am truly blessed in so many ways. I have a beautiful 3 yr old grandson who just came up and gave me a kiss, hug and said I love you LaLa, (that’s what he calls me rather than Nana or grandma-he chose the name). How can one not be happy when you get unconditional love from your grandchildren?ReplyCancel

Beautiful card as always. I just washed my hands in clean water. I’m thankful that we have clean water everyday. When I think of other countries that bathe, drink, wash clothes and let their livestock stand in, drink and use the bathroom in because they have no other choice it makes me feel grateful yet sad and wishing that more could be done. Seems like there’s alway money for war. When I think about the money spent on campaigns……….ugh. Sorry about the soap box.ReplyCancel

Two things are making me happy today… First, I got your card yesterday and have placed it on my Wall of Fame right next to another one of yours I have. I’m afraid these cards will only see the light in my eyes; I couldn’t give them away. Secondly, I got to Skype with a young friend of mine who has moved to Germany. She has been gone for two months; I missed her so much but I couldn’t master the technology involved so she called me and helped me set it up on my computer. Heaven help me when the bill comes but so worth it! Long (free) chat and got to be shown around her new home. This is a time I can really appreciate the technology we have today… being with a friend who is so far away and being a part of the crafty world at large right from my desk! All good..!ReplyCancel

I had lunch today with my “lunch bunch” ladies and one gal said the teacher in a card-making class she attends can’t teach it anymore and asked me if I would teach the class. What an answer to prayer for some additional income. This will supplement my social security very nicely while I’m doing something I enjoy so much! God is good!!

I’m thankful that 43 students (we can only take 50 per semester in the program) have decided to continue with their education. (high school diploma plus earn college credits at the same time.)

The sweet people in my life have made today special. My precious son spent the morning helping his grandfather with work that is a little too heavy for Papa to do alone; my dear mother-in-law made it a point to say she is praying for me, a longtime friend called to ask if she could help me prepare my classroom for the upcoming school year, and I received a kind note in the mail. I am truly blessed and thank God for His goodness.ReplyCancel

    Such elegance, Becca.
Tricky question to answer today as I tripped in the car park of the local Hobbycraft (UK) store and have broken the head of my right humerus bone both horizontally and vertically and cannot move my arm. The pain is excruciating but I must give thanks for modern painkillers as I cannot imagine what it would be like without nor how people without access to modern prescriptions cope with illness and injuries.
My dear husband, sister-in-law and friends have shown me how blessed I am :o)

Hello Becca! This card is stunningly beautiful! I love the gold foil. This is pure elegance.
I am happy today to be a child of God. Everything else in my life is second to that and good or bad, I know God is always in control. The last two years have been incredibly hard in too many ways. Two years ago July 29, I lost my Dad. I miss him so but helping my Mom and having one health issue after another have kept me from being able to really grieve. What keeps me moving forward in spite of everything is knowing how much God loves me and being thankful for the blessings in my life. As the anniversary of my Dad’s passing approaches, I am so thankful I was blessed to be his daughter. God makes me happy. Today and every day.ReplyCancel

What is making me so elated today is: –>The fact I just saved various colored Bearded Irises from the trash dumpster and I have a new flower bed and additions to the small garden around the tree by my apartment that I took over from a previous neighbor who moved out of the complex that I have been tended to for the past three years in short painful spurts. You see I suffer from Ankylosing Spondylitis, Fibromyalgia, A Bone tumor in my Left hip, a tear in my right hip and a cyst pushing on my spine. i can honestly say I ma in too much pain at the moment but I have made forward progress and I feel so good in my soul. The pain I am feeling today is so worth it to me because I just spruced up my apartment for others to enjoy as well as my hubby and myself and the other little garden as well.

I have saved Bees and Butterflies with these additions today :o)

Well, for the past two days I have been digging, getting dirty and LOVIN’ it y’all!!! I got them all for free except for the English Lavender I bought two years ago myself and planted.

I awoke to find a message from my niece. She missed my other niece’s wedding shower this past weekend. When she was looking at pictures, she spotted my centerpiece that I had made from paper flowers in a crystal compote dish. She said those were gorgeous, to which her mom replied that they were my paper flowers. She said they were amazing and I should post them. We talked about does anyone really appreciate handmade items, so I now know they were noticed. Of course, my niece, an artiste herself, is a sweetheart:-)

wow…really liking the bronze and cream…and the new dies…checking my wallet…sigh, nope, not yet! lOL. Nice card, Becca, Like this one…sends all kinds of ideas spinning off in my head! Thanks!

I don’t keep a journal much any more…indonhave the ones I used to keep, though. one thing I do notice as I (very occasionally) read back what I have written before…is how present I can feel back in the moment when I do read those kinds of things. A few months ago I was going thigh some old files and found some decades old things I had written when I made the decision to start seeking to adopt a child. I was a young pastor, single, but I knew I wanted a child…and so I started a file “Dear Daughter”. Little did I expect then I would be blessed with a son as well, and it took nearly 18 years to come to fruition, but I am so glad I have those letters now. I think I am going to pull them together, re-write them on vellum and create a book for her for Christmas. At the present, she is 18 and has been unsafe for herself and for us to live at home for over three years. Giving thanks for her, passing the written word along….

    Thanks again Becca….JoniReplyCancel

I’m happy to wake up in my right mind and good health each day. Finding beauty, such as your cards, to see also makes me happy.ReplyCancel

Drove my 48 year old daughter & two of her friends north to half way between LaPorte City & Vinton Iowa (about 40 miles away) where I left them at the side of the road with their bicycles so they could join up with thousands of other cyclists participating in RAGBRAI (Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa)! Today is day 5 and they will end up this evening in Hiawatha – a nice community next to ours (Cedar Rapids). The weather today is about 79-80 degrees with low humidity. Very mild an Iowa July day. The corn & soy beans are doing well this year so everything is green & lush looking as well as many of the beautiful farms & homes on our morning trip. One of those Great to Be Alive Days!ReplyCancel

I usually spend more time on how the card looks. If it is a sympathy card I go looking for the sentiment that I think will mean the most to the remaining family.ReplyCancel
