I’m popping in quickly to share one of my favorite projects that I haven’t shared here yet.  Using one of my very favorite stamps from Our Daily Bread Designs called Lift Up Our Hands, I created a quick framed piece that graces my studio.

The very inexpensive frame was purchased at Hobby Lobby and is an 10" x 10" frame with a 3.75" x 3.75" opening. I simply stamped the sentiment, which says, "May you feel His hands, lifting you up in prayer" in black and cream to match to frame.  The bow is a mega bow that is cinched with a brooch from my stash – never knew what I might do with it but it found a good home here.   I used two creams ribbons – one that is a 3" wide moire and one that is 1.5" wide and is embroidered.  Once the bow was completed, I simply glued it on.

Just in case you wanted to know . . . For this bow, starting at a midpoint with the wider 3" ribbon, I zig zagged the ribbon back and forth so that each of the three layers was stair stepped smaller ending again on a midpoint..  With smaller ribbon, I made two loops and laid them on top simply cinching the entire stack with my brooch, closing the pin on the back and arranging the smaller ribbon so that it was symmetrical.   For the larger ribbon, I think I used about a yard and a half.  For the smaller ribbon I think I used about a half a yard.

I love when I can change it up and do something other than a stamped card, especially when the project is so easy!   Anyone who can read this post can make this gift.  Go ahead, pick out a simple stamp that speaks to you, and frame it!  You’ll be able to add this to your bag of tricks whenever you need a quick gift too!

    Wow!
I found 5 of these frames at a garage sale several years ago still wrapped in plastic. I have never found a use for them until now. I am inspired.ReplyCancel

I just {heart} Penny Black Stamps – I have quite a few wood mounted ones and lo and behold they have clear ones now – where have I been?  This one, from the Thinking of You set, was a cinch to color up and all my boo boo’s look like I really intended them.  Don’t you wish everything in life was that way?  I chose Cosmo Cricket – Girl Friday to go along with my image that I watercolored with Tombow Markers.

I simply cut a frame with Spellbinders Labels Large and after laying my ribbon and lace, mounted a pair of Spellbinders Petite Ovals Large and my image cut from Spellbinders Petite Ovals Small.  I made a loopy bow to go behind my button by taking three 4" pieces of ribbon and placing a glue dot in the middle of each and folding ribbon ends to the center.  I stacked all three loops with glue dots,  then a glue dot to hold my button which has a bow tied with this fun Burlap String.  All my stamping here is done with Versafine Onyx and embossed with clear embossing powder.  Then I embellished the top of the oval with one of the dies from Spellbinders Floral Accents.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Penny Black
Paper:  Cosmo Cricket – Girl Friday,  Bazzill, 140lb Strathmore Watercolor Paper, The Paper Company – Blonde Columns
Ink:  Versafine and Clear Embossing Powder
Accessories:  Spellbinders Labels Large, Spellbinders Petite Oval Large, Spellbinders Petite Oval Small, Spellbinders Floral Accents, Linen Thread, Tombow Markers, Satin Ribbon, Lace

I’m working on being better about sending cards out; I’m sure this one will be going to a friend.  Do you send your cards out or do you find it all to easy to hang on to them?

    Hi Becca –

What a lovely card and I love the way the flowers came out. Superb as usual. I keep saying I’m going to make cards in advance to have on hand, but I usually end of making them last minute. I have yet to keep one. Although I am getting better at remembering to photograph them so I don’t send a duplicate to the same person in the future. Also my sister always likes me to send her photos of my cards so she can see what I’ve been up to.

    Becca,
Another beautiful card! That is a beautiful stamp from PB and I love how you colored it.

I enjoy visiting your site everyday to see what you’ve made. I learn alot just by studying your layering, colors & patterns, how you embellish and how you color an image. I don’t have any Spellbinders but it’s still neat to see the ideas, then maybe incorporate some of them using the ol’ cardboard and plastic templates or smaller punches I do have. Not quite the same, but it gets me to stretch and be creative, using what I have on hand!

    Thanks for sharing your artwork!ReplyCancel

My goodness, I’ll seem chatty today.  I have some news to share as well as a new release from Our Daily Bread Designs.  First for my news, I’ve been invited  to join the Magnolia-licious Design Team!!  This is a pure indulgence for me as I’ve been smitten with those stamps for quite a while.  Unknown to many of you, I like just about every genre of stamp there is.  I have quite a bit of artsy, elegant, eclectic and yes, quite a few cute stamps.   I’ve been hunting for something to take to the little girls at Sunday School in the way of cards, and these will fit the bill.  The ladies on the design team are as sweet as can be and have shown me a warm welcome.  I’m jumping in with them today and this week we have a Blog Hop on Friday, June 5th; I hope to see you then!

Now on to my card for today . . . this is one of the magnificent new releases with Our Daily Bread Designs and this particular set is called Ask, Seek, Knock.   Be sure to pop on over to ODBD to see the other set that rounds out the June Releases!

If you can’t tell, this Spellbinders Decorative Frame is one of my very favorites, I use it often.  This time I decided to change it up by embossing and stenciling on design paper.  I know the idea sounds "busy" but I really like the way it frame turned out.  The paper is subtle enough to take it.  I used the same ink for the frame, the sentiment and the edging on the double stacked Spellbinders Labels Four.  After I embellished the frame with topaz bling, I added a hat pin to which I added pearls and swarovski’s.

TIP:  I know you will ask so I’ll go ahead and give a little explanation about the border around the Labels.  Normally I would do a reverse stenciling technique like I did on THIS post.  Because I wanted the ink to be the same as I used with the stenciling and because I was NOT using pigment ink as you need for reverse stenciling, I created a set of masks to use on the Labels dies that expose just the outer edges.   I did that by tracing around the insides of the die I was using with a pencil and then cutting out along that outline.  Then using repositionable glue I tacked my cut out on top of my die cut and sponged around the edges, removing the mask when finished.  It’s a sure fire way to get a different look with your dies.

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs – Ask, Seek, Knock
Paper:  Bazzill, SEI Windsor
Ink:  Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink
Accessories:  Spellbinders Decorative Frame, Spellbinders Labels Four, Bling from Michaels, Hat Pin from Hobby Lobby, Miscellaneous Beads, Ribbon

Don’t forget, since this is a new release day for Our Daily Bread Designs, there is another new set to see yet!!  All of the design team members are listed on my sidebar – be sure to visit to see what everyone is posting today.  Yes,  Amy ShefferAngel WildeAngie Zublionis, Betty Wright, Laurie Schmidlin, Chris Olsen, Dina Kowal, Jane Wetzel, Judy RozemaAngella Crockett and Lorelie Kim have new cards to share too!

Honest to goodness, I just don’t know how you manage to pump out cards on a regular basis, have them all look unlike another, come up with a new way to use stamps and stencils, think outside the box, and come out professional looking like you were born to do this. Does this give enough impact in how amazed I continue to be with your work, Becca?! Good golly Miss Molly, this is one fab card. And thank you for the explanation GF!ReplyCancel

More of the world needs to see your creativity and this is certainly one way of getting more of YOU out there :) This card is absolutely stunning! Thank you for the included bonus of the “tip”. I’m gonna try that technique since I have a lot of dye based inks and couldn’t do the reverse with them.ReplyCancel
