All Blessings Flow

Hi there friends!  I ‘m not tired of Christmas cards but realize that the showing of the Christmas cards begins in July.  So imagine the freedom when I go to my studio and don’t feel obligated to shuffle through reds and greens although there are certainly other color schemes. Actually, I’m not telling the truth here, I could make Christmas cards all year round, lol!!   Today I’m sharing a card with you using the December release from Our Daily Bread Designs.  The set is called Blessings from the Full of Grace Collection – goodness I love the font!!

I selected one of my favorite sets of papers from K and Company and did something I rarely do – border in black.  I don’t know why I never do that because I think it really looks striking.   I leaned heavily on Spellbinders Labels Sixteen for a motif to add some framing to my focal panel and added Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Borderabilities Petite to soften things up a bit.  My sentiment, stamped and embossed in black, is perched on Spellbinders Labels Eleven   I finished the design with a double bow.

HOW IT’S MADE:

1. Make card base in black – mine is 5″ x 7″
2. Cut a scant mat and design paper slightly smaller than card, adhere using foam tape.

3. Cut a scant mat and design paper smaller than previous layer for focal panel.
4. Cut scallops with Classic Scalloped Borderabilities and adhere to bottom of focal panel
5.
Cut/emboss Spellbinders Labels Sixteen – cut in half, adhere to top and bottom of focal panel.
6.
Stamp and emboss sentiment, cut out with Labels Eleven, affix to card with foam tape.
7. Embellish with pearls and tie ribbon.
8. Adhere focal panel to base using foam tape.

SUPPLIES I USED:

Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs – Blessings – Full of Grace Collection
Paper : Bazzill, K&Company
Ink : Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories : Spellbinders™ Labels Sixteen, Spellbinders™ Classic Scalloped Borderabilities Petite, Spellbinders™ Labels Eleven, Ribbon, Black half pearls.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  New Our Daily Bread Design releases are on the way!

Oh this is gorgeous !! You have no idea how much I learn from you ! I never bought bold all over patterns because I didn’t want to make a bold “jump out at you” card. Now I see that using just a small piece of bold pattern paper with black frames and a subtle background it is simply beautiful. I also appreciate the time you take to provide the list of supplies and directions. TFS I am learning from a Master :)ReplyCancel

Black is very striking! This card looks so elegant and sophisticated if that is a word you can use describing a card. Just beautiful!! Haven’t been able to check in as often as down in my back but had to come to the pc to see what you are up to!! Have a blessed and Happy New Year.ReplyCancel

  • JessicaDecember 28, 2010 - 12:31 pm

Hey Becca, this is a lovely card! I agree about the black making a card pop! But I rarely use it either… I do use a lot of dark brown, or navy though. I think that’s because I have a boat load of brown card stock that my sweetie brought home for me. It was old stuff and they were going to chuck it. So he saved it’s life, and I have been using it for about 2 years! I guess it’s all about what I have the most of!
    Happy New Year
    Hugs, JessReplyCancel

  • Jean McGeeDecember 28, 2010 - 1:07 pm

B-U-T-FUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLL card – as usual. I was surprised at the color of the ribbon/bow. Now I have to start re-thinking colors of embellishments – I usually take/use a color that is on the rest of the card. Need to start thinking “outside of the box”.

I do like the changes you made on your blog – more peaceful to the eyes.
Thanks for sharing your God Given talent.

    I love the idea that you’re also giving detailed instructions on your cards, especially the base size of the card. It makes it so much easier to “copy” it, especially when one doesn’t necessarily have the same stamp or punch that you used. At least there are dimensions on which to base the card, if that makes sense!!! :}

I do hope you’re doing well these days. The Lord knows your sorrow, and He will never let you suffer anything that you can’t handle without His loving arms enfolding you!! Safe in the arms of Jesus!! What more could anyone ask for??ReplyCancel
