Living in an apt means I have to be creative with space. My livingroom is long, so I shortened it slightly by placing my 7′ sofa cross-wise part way down. Behind it I have 2-4’x4′ bookcases filled with my craft supplies. I also have a large deep-freeze against the end wall of my livingroom, but no one sees it anymore thanks to those tall bkcs! That freezer is the best height for working, I tell you! I’ve made myself a little ‘room’ between the freezer and the bkcs. Of course, I can’t leave clutter around there, but it sure is fast to clean up. Besides, I’ve created a space that leads right to my balconey door which is perfect for creating al fresco :)

I craft in my basement. I have an area that is set up with all my crafting stuff. So, maybe that would qualify as part of a room, but then I don’t know if I consider my basement as a room, even though it is divided into two parts. The space is shared with my laundry area, storage, hot water heater, water conditioner, sump pit, and my canning shelves that hold all my yummy summer bounty. I guess I don’t consider it a room since it’s the unfinished side of the basement (i.e. no drywall – just concrete walls & floors).
Becca we changed a bedroom into a craft space for me, i’ve got shelving on 2 walls, a built in cupboard on the other side and a window looking out on the pool. a couple of years ago my hubby gave me a flatscreen tv for my craftroom cos i spend so much time there , during the day i can watch my fav programs while crafting. my craftspace is actually very full with all my stuff on the tables to use, i can cut,emboss, scor and finish my cards without packing stuff in and out,,all at my fingertips,,i spend most of the day in my craft room and love every minute of it.
Well, I did vote on this week’s poll! The only thing is, though my craft room is used 90% of the time, I often craft on my coffee table in the living room… LOL… So I guess I am mobile, though I do have a “dedicated area” ;)
I´m sooo lucky , that I got my owndedicated craftroom after the kids grew up and movved out, and we got some rrooms free here. It´s not too big, but it´s mine and I just love it, and I really think, I spend more hours inhere, than in any other room of the house. But I could sure use a bigger room, so I don´t have to spend sooo much time on looking for stuff, that has been hidden in the clutter thoug, but I ghink we always wants more, the more we have, and I know, I´m one of the lucky ones, who even have a room just for me.
Whilst I say I have a dedicated room for my crafting, it is really a dedicated converted large cupboard under the stairs! The downside is no natural light so I have halogen and daylight bulbs galore. We’re currently looking to move house and the one criteria I have stipulated is that I must have a ‘proper’ room to craft in!
How bizarre! Only yesterday my husband and I trawled garden centres etc looking for a wooden workshed that we can erect next to the garage for my craft room. It is so exciting to think I will have my own space entirely! At the moment I have one half of John’s office. I guess he is so keen to get his space back he doesn’t seem to mind spending all that money. I’ll let you know what happens.
I work at my dinette table which is off the kitchen . I have 4 Iris drawer carts with some individual drawer sets on top of them set along the wall with my supplies in them. My paper is in a file tote with wheels stored in my closet and my punches are in a box under my bed. It is quite convenient as I am a few steps from the coffee pot, the waste basket and the sink if I need to rinse something off. It is an open concept so I can see the TV in the living room if I want to watch a program while I work.I can’t miss my football games LOL I make a total mess when I am making a card, but I put everything away when I finish. The bonus is I never has a scrap room to clean :) A dedicated scrap room may be nice, but this arrangement works for me.
I have a 12 x 12 room in the basement that is bulging with craft stuff and have spilled over into a second 12 x 12 where I have shelves for storage of things I don’t use often. I have a complete mish-mash of storage items in my craft room from a floor to ceiling set of shelves that’s about 5′ wide to IRIS 12 x 12 wheeled sets that hold paper, plus, plus, plus. It sort of works, but would it be nice to have the room arranged so it all goes together. I’m happy, though, and continually TRY to keep it workable. Does one EVER have all the room one needs???
I have my own craft room! I am so fortunate to have a space that I can create.
Sewing at one end stamping at the other with comfy chairs in front of the fireplace to look at magazines and think.
At the moment its sort of complicated!!! I share my “craft room” with my dinning room. As well as having a whole bedroom which its so full I couldn’t get my table in as well. So when my Father in law got really ill and needed full time care my Hubby suggested a Granny flat on our 1/2 acre property. So in came the 50 x 25 foot transportable home all self contained with kitchen/living, one bedroom, full bathroom, air conditioning and verandah. Which I now have sights on once my Father in law has passed on from this life. Until then I’m happy to craft on my dinning room table
Two people living in a huge house I was able to claim a bedroom to make my craft room. I bought a 6ft table from cash I had saved from selling my cards moved a bookcase and my sewing table in but I still needed more space to spread out so another 6ft table came home (hubby refused to put shelves up for me). I have a case set up for my twice weekly group and everything else is within easy reach. I love my craft room and not a day goes by that I don’t use it. I am a huge fan of your beautiful cards and I have a peg board to tie your gorgeous bows. Love Robyn Australia
My master bedroon has 2 walkin closets. Since I am divorced the second one has become my scrapbook room. However, when my son leaves for college this fall his room is going to become my scrapbook room. I have been looking all over the internet looking for ideas for the perfect scrapbook room. I have paper and punches in a computer, exercise room. But like another I find that my chest type deep freeze is the perfect height to work on. I would love to have craft room with everything together. Oh well I am just happy to be able to have things to craft with.
I feel so fortunate to have a dedicated craft room. I did have a smaller room in my house but when the kids moved out I moved in. My room is custom fitted just for me. My husband has put up slat wall and I have a walk in closet with shelving on all three sides. I have shelving above my cutting station.and I have ribbon and paper racks. I am totally blessed.

I joined in this weeks poll , telling I use a room to craft that has another function, its my 20 foot square living room which is mostly kited out for crafting with shelves etc as hobby has spiraled out of control over the past 6 years , but we are moving house next month and I will have my own spacious craft room and office and I can’t wait !! He he

Like several others, I have a smaller bedroom not being used by a visiting or temporary live-in relative that has been outfitted for “my play space”! I have storage shelves in the closet where all my fabric is folded & neatly stacked according to type. I have a large utility storage cabinet to put all my stamps in, and a pie cabinet that holds all my samples, completed items, and ready-to-assembles. Ribbon is in color-coordinated clear plastic boxes, as well as on a dowel rod below one of the shelves for easy access. I change the ribbon spools out periodically depending on what “season” I’m working on. My sewing machine cabinet is centered on one wall, and under the fold-out lid panels which become work area, are my roll-around 12 X 12″ paper stacks. My punches are behind me on rod-pocket curtain rods, and the ones that won’t fit there are in a drawer of a tall 5-drawer rolling cart. My husband has taken several desks apart and put them back together again to create a 1-of-a-kind work area with Ottlite Lamps, cabinets and storage drawers. It’s a mess right now because I’m Spring cleaning while recovering from shoulder surgery. Your polls are interesting & educational! Thanks!
Since crafting and teaching for the past 21 years I have accumulated so much. With 59 drawers and five double doored bases I have lots of toys. I share a space with a spare bedroom/office/craft room. The making of a card was done always on a glass mat on my lap, in my easy chair in my living room…LOL. On June 3rd I will have a new space as I am moving to an apartment. It will be my craft/computer room. I am looking forward to this blessing. Making cards has kept my mind active. If we don’t use it, we will lose it.

I used to craft at the dining room table before I got a room just for me. Now I have taken over the smallish guest room and filled it with things I love. It is nice to leave things out and not worry about the cats stealing or eating my stuff. Having my own room is a dream come true for me.
I do have a dedicated room of my own…however; I sometimes take over my dining room when I have friends over to stamp, or my grandaughter comes over to makes cards for her class i.e. 35 individualized complete Valentine cards! LOL
I am moving into a larger room as soon as it’s painted, as I also quilt, so I want to have everything in one room.
i guess you can call it a dedicated craft room – it is space carved out of the attic. very very hot in summer so i don’t do swaps/cards from middle of May to middle of Sept when it cools down.. yes it gets cool in winter but i can deal w that better than temps over 100. so in the summer i move into my DD’s room and scrapbook. she is out of the house now but her room still has her bed etc.
I do have a dedicated craft room, but my paper addiction has to share space with my painting addiction. It looks like a bomb went off in there currently. :D Thanks for asking!
In answer to your poll, I put “you didn’t name mine”. That is because I have a dedicated craft room, but I am not dedicated to keeping it neat and workable. Also, I don’t have a lot of free time, and I want to be with my family when I can, so it kills two birds to scrap where they are. As a matter of fact, we are taking in our old garage to make a family room and I am moving all my scrap stuff into that room, since that is how I prefer to work. I will have to develop a plan to keep it tidier, though, since it will no longer be stuck in a back room.
I have a craft room, with shelves on the wall for punches and other do dads. I have a desk made by my husband that is wonderful. and I have so much paper it is over flowing and sure need to reorganize that. But when I reorganize, I can’t find what I thought was the best place for the item. lol…Crafting, or stamping is an addiction of the best kind for me. Barb F

I have been doing arts & crafts my whole life, and have tons of stuff. Of course, it’s hard to find what I need when I want it, because I don’t have it well-organized yet.
We have a finished basement that is totally dedicated to ART. My husband is an artist, so we share the space, but it is large. Our Summer project is to totally re-design….painting, new floors, new work tables, storage, etc., so I probably will not be very creative for several months (everything will be packed and stored all over the house), but what a great chance to clean out…and find things.

I voted on your poll but I probably could have used the “dedicated craft room” but I have my own little house behind our house. It’s a sweet little studio we built two years ago and I love it so much. It has a little porch out front and a large work table in the center of the room. Most of the furnishings are recycled items from the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store that I purchased for very little.

I use our extra bedroom for my work space and it has overflowed into the rest of our home. Furniture consists of our extra kitchen table, stacking cubes, rolling carts, cupboards, misc. storage containers, shelving and pegboard. Sometimes the kitchen table and counter depending on my current projects.

I said I have a dedicated craft room because that’s the way I think of it. It is a 5′ X 5′ walk in closet. After years of gathering supplies from around the house and having to clean up even if I wasn’t done with a project I decided I could carve out my own space in a closet if I just removed the door. So at age 60 me, myself and I removed that door, cleaner out anything that wasn’t craft related and built shelves on two walls. I set up my work table and moved in all my precious toys. Over the last four years I have gotten quite organized so everything is literally at my fingertips and I no long buy duplicates. There is a TV in the guest room which I can see from my work table and my computer is just out side the door. Yes it’s small but it’s all mine and I couldn’t be happier. Truth be told I don’t think I’d really want anything bigger either.

I have a dedicated room for crafting only because some of my children have moved out of the house. When my favorite room in the house became vacant, I went, “Yippeee! Craft room here I come!” It was so fun moving my stuff in here! I did tell my daughter though, “If you ever come back, the room is still yours.” LOL
I’m so excited – if you had asked this question 3 days ago, I would have a completely different answer. As of this weekend, I’ve finished moving my scrapbooking supplies into a dedicated room! Who needs a spare bedroom anyway? This was no easy task, and I’ve worked on it for two weeks. But is it ever worth it! The first thing I did this morning was to open the door to my new craft room and smile!

I’m in a bit of transition. Although most of my supplies are at present stored in the dining room, I do have another room that will become my studio when I get it cleared out and organized. Since I’m really slow on that last part, it could be years before it’s done. Most of the time I transport a small amount of stuff out to the kitchen table to work and then put it all back away when I’m finished – I know – not very efficient.
I have a small bedroom upstairs all for my crafting. My husband’s old drafting table, a small kitchen table, and two sewing machines are in ther. Two closets stuffed with craft supplies. Also I bought 3 best craft cabinets with different size drawers whereby store my stamps, embellishments, and lots of mists, etc. And an exercise bike that I never use except to hang completed projects, ribbons, etc!
My desktop is a 6 foot long rolled butcher block countertop that sits on two, two-drawer file cabinets. On the opposite wall is the same set up where my computer and printer are along with books, scratch pads etc. Makes a good setup for me as I use what used to be my youngest daughter’s bedroom. After she left home, I turned it into a office, craft room, etc. I keep my sewing machine, ironing board set up along with two office chairs, sewing machine chair and a easy chair for visitors. The room is jam packed most of the time as a lot goes on in here.
I have a craft cave in my basement- I love it and it is always changing and growing with the addition of many supplies.

While I do have a spare bedroom that contains all of my crafting supplies (well I also have managed to spill my toys onto other closets in the house lol)- I always craft on my dining table. The joke w/ my family is that we don’t have a place to sit down and eat as we don’t have a dinig table but a crafting table! I have loads of fun paper crafting and always look forward to seeing your cards!
I do my paper crafting in an area of the (finished) basement. It’s great, I have all my stuff together. My table is 1/2 of an old ping pong table, gives me lots of room to spread out. When my son was younger, it was great to have him and his friends playing in the basement while I made cards. I could keep an eye on them without intruding. Now that he’s older, he doesn’t want me in the basement at all if he has a friend over. They do grow up!
My knitting, however, is extremely portable. I knit in front of the TV, on the bus, at lacrosse games, you name it, seems like I’m dragging that knitting bag around!
I have a 12′ x 15′ craft room in my basement. A friend of mine has a table that her husband made and when I saw it I had him build one for me. The top measures 72″ x 39″ and is 39″ tall. It fits atop two custom built file cabinets that houses 12″ x 12″ paper and there is an overhang of about 18″ under which I fit bar two stools and there is a space between the file cabinets which has a bar stool on the other side. I can stand or sit to do my crafting and there is room for friends to work as well. I have a cut to fit cutting mat that covers the entire top of the table. On one wall there are lower cabinets with a counter top that measures 8′ and a floor to ceiling shelving unit of 4′ wide. On the counter top I have a special shelf for punches and the ones that do not fit there are in a shoe pocket thingy (thingy is a word I got from my granddaughter) that fits on the back of the door. One wall is lined with shelves, another with an old entertainment center and filing cabinets and the door wall has slot board where all sorts of tools and toys are hanging. I enjoy this little room but I am running out of room and “stuff” is spilling out into other parts of the basement. Sadly since my husband passed away in January of this year, I do not have as much time to spend crafting as I used to. I have to do the yard work and things around the house that he used to take care of. God is giving me grace and strength though and I am making it.

My craft room is our spare guest room, so it is basically a dedicated one until company stays over LOL! Hubby got me an office corner desk with partitions against the walls, drawers and a bookshelf and I absolutely love it :)
I am very lucky to have an unused bedroom with ensuite for my crafting.
I fitted it out with kitchen cupboards that were being replaced and worktops too. I have everything I need in my craft room and in the ensuite I have running water for cleaning stamps etc. I also have tea and coffee making facilities in the craft room too…..well, you need a break now and then don’t you? ;o) I have my music to keep my company as well. A lovely place to craft.

We built a new house a year ago. When it was almost finished my kids (grown) came in and looked around and ask where the extra bedroom was. I said ” there isn’t one”. This is our last house, I got my craft room and your Dad got his TV room on oppostie ends of the house. This is how you stay married after he retires!!!! They didn’t think it was funny. My craft room is MY room, with my special things I love in it, keepsakes. It is quiet in there, peaceful, relaxing. If I don’t feel like cleaning it, I just turn around , shut the door and go to bed. I am very thankful for my room.
I am ashamed to admit; but, my husband had my nephew redo one of our bedrooms into a state-of-the-art craft room for me ., . . cupboards, countertops, under-the-cabinet lighting, recessed lighting in the ceiling. The only problem was, that when my sister and my nephew’s wife come to scrapbook, the room is toooooo small. So now we have taken over the living room. Now we can all sit together. We used folding tables to house our stamps, ink pads, punches, cricuit machine and cartridges. I use the dining room table to spread all my papers out. I do use the craft room, when I am by myself; but, when we are (all 3) together, the living room is the place. I would be in deep trouble; but, thank goodness, my husband is content to be in the family room!!! LOl
I have taken our dinning room as my crafting space. Since we are not formal when we have company I decided we didn’t need a dinning room! I have a nice L shaped glass top table for crafting, computer/printer, sewing machine and Ikea units to house all my stamp sets and other goodies. My ribbons sit in 2 large totes under a section of my work table. I love being able to craft on the main floor of our house since it makes it possible for me to take care of laundry, cooking etc and do my crafting at the same time :)

My craft is downstairs, a small room. My 10 yr old daughter also shares the craft room also. It pretty much works like this, she has her stuff on her own side and I have mind on my side with a sign says “Hands off–this is MOM’s stuff!!!!’ LOL! I’m so glad my daughter likes to do crafts and school projects, while I like to do scrap booking and card making! Thank you Becca for sharing your awesome and beautful ideas and cards with us!
Craft Room???? Craft House!!!
I do most of my work on my dining room table, leaving just enough room to eat.(and even that has to be cleared off once in a while) I say every room in my house except the front bathroom is craft room. (My bathroom has hair spray I use when needed to set the ink)

I’m very fortunate in that my DH and I built a 16′ x 24′ building behind our house that is totally dedicated to my crafting. It doesn’t have a bathroom, but that keeps me from moving out there.
I have a dedicated craft room, it is 12’x24′ in the basement, but I still find myself searching for things. Papercrafting on oneside and sewing machines, cricut ,computers and printer on the other side.Lots of shelves, several of the cubes from Michaels, cutting table that I now used for the cuttlebug.
I, too, am blessed to have an empty bedroom, which is not empty in any sense of the word. It is brimming with craft items, but I can just shut the door. I have a crafting buddy who comes over almost every week and we just craft to our hearts’ content. I also have a TV and DVR so we can watch shows that were recorded earlier. If a workshop is scheduled with our demonstrator, we have to use the dining room table and kitchen island.
Becca, love your cards and your tutorials. I now have 2 Tonic cutters and love them.
My mother-in-law lived in a small apt. attached to our home for 4 yrs. She loved crafts and spent many happy hrs. making things in her “craft pad” until she passed away. My hubby redesigned her pad for me, and I now enjoy many happy hrs. there (stamping and making cards) sometimes with friends and sometimes by myself…just as she did. My room has a peg bow maker, a set of dowels for storing ribbons, a wall of cabinets for storing my supplies, a Big Shot station, and a counter for my Cricut and Cuttlebug–all made possible by my hubby. I call it “my space” since he also has “his space” in another room. We both feel lucky and enjoy the hours we spend there.
I work in my small LAUNDRY ROOM on top of my washer and dryer! Yes…you read it right. LOL! (Almost as bad as the bathroom.) My husband two years ago, put nice white shelves that match our kitchen cupboards above the washer and dryer for more space to store my stamping supplies. I have now taken over part of the small laundry room closet with more shelf space for more stamping supplies. Occasionally I use the kitchen countertops for more space and sink to clean my stamps. My husband wants me to use our very small 3rd bedroom and turn it into a crafting room for me. However, I’m afraid that if I do, it would be such a mess constantly, so I refrain. Using the laundry room helps me to put things back after use and straightening up my messes most of the time. There you have it….
My dedicated craft “cave” is in the basement. I come downstairs to play as often as I can but not as much as I want. Since my grand babies came along, I have had very little “me” time but that is alright because they will not be little long. ( I keep them about 30 hours a week). In the mean time I am keeping an eye out for scrapbooking and card making and miniature dollhouse items at garage sales and clearence sales, so that when they get older I will be all ready to go full speed ahead. I am a crafter who just loves to create pretty things and it is such a blessing to have an area to call my own. God bless to you all……denice

We had a closed in back porch which my husband & a friend turned into a room for my stamping but it has no heat. We have tried many heater & just found that works. So most of the time I do my stamping on the kitchen table.

I had a small sewing room, 8′ by 10′, turned into a “craft/stamping room. I outgrew it in less than 3 years. I have since moved into another room which is 12′ by 12′ in our basement. I have a desk, work table, and another smaller table. There is two paper racks(from a store going out of business) which go to the ceiling and two full walls covered with shelves with stamps on 75% of them and ribbon on the other 25%. The tables have items stored under them and this room also has a small closet which I have some clothes in but the remainder is stamps, Nestabilities and lots of odds and ends. My only problem is that I work 10 – 12 hours a day on my job and I do not get to spend much time working with my tools, etc for making cards. I keep thinking I am going to retire sometime soon but I think my husband has different plans. He enjoys working but I could just make cards all day and be very happy at that. I love my area and really look forward to spending more time enjoying all my goodies. Hugs, Linda
Since the kids all left and got married, I was able to seize two rooms for my crafting. One room is mainly the computer and printer and paper storage. The other room has two tables that I can craft at. My husband (the darling that he is) put up shelving for all of my punches and made me plenty of shelves in the closets for storage. When the boys were little, my husband cutout a section of the bedroom walls that led into the dormers of the house and put up doors and a floor inside for the kids to use as a little fort or clubhouse. I have taken over that space too. I have lots of portable storage units for my rubber stamps. Too much stuff, but I can’t part with any of it.

I am very blessed, my dear husband built me a wonderful Studio separate from the house in which I can get totally lost as I enjoy creating with all of my “stuff” at hand.
we have an older farm house(1938) that we have been renovating and “re-fixing” stuff from incompetent contractors for 25 years now, it also has an addition (1987) that turned it into a Mother /daughter, with a master bedroom, full bath and deck upstairs for us. All total, without counting bathrooms, this is a 14 room house. half of which is filled with stuff from me moving to college campus for 2 years and coming back with a full apt worth of stuff, then going to MD for a job, that didn’t prove to be what i signed up for so I moved back home, and the house was taken off the market. Three teenagers/young adults have come and gone at least twice each one. The oldest was much more than that and she is not allowed back now (long story). so of course, stuff kept coming in, with nothing going out. i am disabled and hubby is going on 70, the kids were never much help and now it is NO help. The second kitchen in our “North wing” was supposed to become my craft studio. HUGE window for natural light, a garden window also, a sink (great for paint etc) and cabinets and draws.
The builder did a CRAP job putting up our very expensive merolat cabinets… which I never understand why they are all so expensive…the fronts are wood the rest is crap. Anyway, he used nails for the most part and only 2 screws diagonally for cabinets and to date two have come completely off the wall. hubby and son, were supposed to secure the others as some are pulling away. SON moved out again, ARGH. I have been trying to do what i can, but with all 4 limbs compromised and spinal stenosis on top of that, it is not easy. I still have the some of the drawers to clean out from my late MIL, and then will start moving more and more of my stuff in there as I can, and organize to the best of my abilities without touching the upper cabinets. BUT for now I continue to work either on a wooden snack table in the LR, in the kitchen, on the couch, or on the bed. LOL Now that the nice weather is coming I’ll be able to work outside as well. we bought 2 sets of tables from “Sonic” last summer. what a steal…metal table and 4 chairs(also metal) for $50. Son went with Hubby to get them, and the lazy kid wouldn’t move some of the others to get to the last square table, so I have one square and one round. He purchased Hunter green and Black either Krylon or Rustoleum outdoor paint for a wooden project of his…we both told him that it wasn’t the right paint for that and he bought quarts o]f each (Dad’s $$…why he wasn’t paying attention, I’ll never know) so even though they are not colors I would have chosen, I will be using them on at least one set-green table, black chairs. I am also going to be on the look-out for tie on cushions to sit on for these chairs. As long as it is not so buggy, or too windy…it will be nice to have a table to myself to work on :)
I must admit, I have a room, but also tend to roam from room to room depending upon what is going on with the family! I think I need the whole house, and they can squeeze in where there is room. :D
I voted for having a designated craft room, because I do…but I rarely craft in there. I’m still having a major fail at the whole organization thing. I can’t seem to keep a clear surface to work on, so I usually grab whatever I plan to use from my room, and haul it to the dining room table to make my cards. I know I have too much “stuff”, what with paper crafting supplies, sewing and quilting supplies, and some beading supplies thrown in, but I have a real hard time purging ANYTHING. So I work at my dining table, and store my supplies in the designated craft room. I really need to break a trail in there and O-R-G-A-N-I-Z-E!
I use my husband’s old computer desk for crafting so I have to be super organized. A place for everything, and everything in its place at all times.Now that he has retired and no longer prepares tax returns for others, I think I should get his newer larger computer desk, and he should go back to the old one. Just haven’t figured out how to tell him.
Hi Becca, since I voted that you didn’t pick mine, I guess I’d best tell ya where I get crafty…in our hallway. I have a permanent spot there at a huge office desk, 2 cabinets, and some shelving space that DH built for me next to and above the desk. I also have a ribbon storage rack made by DH that hangs on the inside of the hall closet door. Trust me, not all my stuff fits into the cabinets…I have a huge storage container on the floor that holds my paper…LOL
I just recently purchased a WorkBox™ as a birthday gift to myself. The beauty is that the WorkBox™ is on wheels! With the built in/fold down desk ans ample storage room, I can craft right there at The WorkBox™.
I am very lucky to have a 4 bedroom home for just my husband and me. We have the master bedroom, guest room, his office, and my craft room. I use my craft room for card making, and scrapbooking. It’s painted taupe with the main wall in Tuscan red. That wall has my 3 oil paintings I made. Lots of creativity in the room. My workspace looks onto the backyard and the pond behind our house. I love my craft room. :)
My card making is out in the ‘studio’ which I share with DH – he has one end of the room and I the other (with the best light). I have another area in the main house where machine sew, and I knit, make lace and embroider where ever!!
I had a building built outside my house when I retired just for my crafting. It was as large as they could fit on that piece of land and I have already outgrown it. The overflow is in two bedrooms in the house. Soon there will be a giant purge when my husband finishes the new bathroom he is building onto the house for himself.
I got into card making a year ago when I created my wedding Order Of Service and Thank You Cards. We live in a one bedroom flat and I now have a storage box full of stamps, dies, paper, punches, paper, my Cuttlebug, embossing folders etc. and it’s all kept under the bed and I take it out when my husband does overtime in the evening which is once a week. I usually use the dining room or sometimes I use my computer desk in the bedroom. We’re currently househunting and room or area for crafting is essential.
I have a dedicated craft room, but I craft all over the house! I live alone and the whole house is mine to do with as I please. If I am using something messy like paint or even heat embossing, I move into the kitchen so it will be easier to clean up. I also use the kitchen table for cutting fabric because of the height and space. The computer and electronic cutters are near the kitchen and laundry room. And, if I am working on a project I often work on the coffee table where I can watch a movie or television. I move the weaving loom into the living room as well because that is where the space is (it folds up for storage). Everything is stored in the craft room and I always clean up after each project – sometimes after each step in a project – so that my home is always presentable.
The former owner built a huge studio for his wife (who was a weaver), and I got to inherit it when we moved in! I am so lucky to have my own place for card making, set in the woods, with a long porch, skylights, 2 sliding patio doors that allow me to look out over blooming peonies and tulips. It’s got loads of built-in shelves and cupboards. What I love is that I can leave my mess — I mean my creative process — and go up to the house. I planned how I would arrange everything for months because finally, I got to move away from my dining room table. Like Shirley said, if my studio had a bathroom, I would move out there.
I use an upstairs bedroom for creating scrapbook pages for my sons/wives, grandchildren and great grandchildren. You have inspired me to learn how to make cards for loved ones. I have an antique drafting table that I love to sit at and create goodies to share. Blessing to you for sharing with us all.
I have half a large bedroom with one whole wall of desk and crafting storage pretty much top to bottom. Empty nester here , so it’s easy to have a nice craft space where I can create to my hearts content. I just wish I had more free time. When I do allot craft time , it’s a nice escape into pretty papers, ribbons and embellishments and I look forward to it. :-)
My DH built me a 400sq. ft.. studio, which is almost half the size of our whole house, and I do craft out there. But I craft everywhere and anywahere! I have a crochet hook and yarn even at my computer for those long downloads! And The stove has embossing podwer melted into it. And the kitchen table always has some project on it. And I sit on the couch at night and stitch, crochet, bead, or cut away. I always have a “craft bag” in my car, ya never know when you will need the certain tool when you are away from home!
We live in a stone house dating back to the 1600’s in a village in the centre of the UK. There is a cottage adjoining us ( which belongs to us) it has one room upstairs and one room downstairs. As it is a listed building we are not allowed to change it. So this is where I make my cards. We call it Cilla’s as it many years ago a lady of that name lived there and she sold cups of tea to passing lorry drivers (that’s trucks to you in the US) also parafin to people in the village to heat their homes, all through the downstairs window. Prior to that a couple brought up 6 children there, no bathroom just an outside toilet. How on earth they managed I don’t know.
