Sweet Friendship

ODBD Friendship Card
Hi there blog friends!!  Don’t feel sorry for me about having to change computers . . . today I’m cooking with gas on the front burner (lol, I don’t know if that’s southern slang or not but it’s sure how I feel today)!!  I had my camera editing software, eight different hi-res pictures and Photoshop open at the same time.  Woohoo!!  Picture editing took all of 8 minutes instead of  the normal 40.  I don’t know why I resisted so long but at some point after jumping off the high dive, you’re over the fear and the water’s nice and and oh so warm.  It’s funny how much a lot of things in life are this way!

Today I need a quick friendship card to send off a gift and this one fits the bill.  To make my paper lace, I used Spellbinders™ Classic Scallop Edgeabilities and Spellbinders™ Classic Decorative Inserts One.  To make it work like free standing lace I simply made a mirror image by cutting all three templates at once on one side and then repeating on the other side.  I played around with this a bit and found if I used lightweight paper and did not emboss, that I could fold my paper in half to get the same result.    The small sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs is called Special Blend and is set on the small tag from Spellbinders ™ Office Supplies.

Embellished with pearls and a Tail Up/Tail Down bow using the Peg Bow Maker, this one weighs in with just one additional layer – can you believe it?

SUPPLIES I USED

Paper: Echo Park, Neenah Classic Crest Cream 80lb Cover
Ink: Colorbox Chalk Ink – Deep Lagoon

Have a glorious Sunday friends!  I’ll see you soon!!

This card is gorgeous!!! I really need to practice this border punching technique. I have a hard time getting them even. So glad you are loving your new computer. It does feel like you are leaving an old friend behind. I still have a lot of things on my old one and keep it close by, just in case. Too bad an external hard drive is such a pain to use. It would be great to have everything there, so changing computers isn’t such a nightmare. LOLReplyCancel

    Good Morning Becca
What a simple yet elegant card!
I would LOVE TO KNOW where you buy the gorgeous RIBBON that you use.
If you have an online supplier it would sure make my life easier, cause searching for it store by store, then finding it costs $3.00 per yard which barely makes one of your fancy bows, well it is stressing me out ;-)
When it comes to the new releases…love all the new dies by all the different makers.
    Hugs & Smiles

Last but surely not least–I am very proud of all that you are doing—the bow maker-your computer-getting things ready for your surgery. You are my inspiration–I will go into your blog at times feeling low–and some how reading and viewing your creations always brings a smile to my face. You are truly and angel of God. Thanks for all you do and my prayers for your courage and your surgery. May you be blessed everyday with lots of good health-joy-laughter and lots of love. RaquelReplyCancel

Beautiful! As always! :o) I cried when I had to get a new computer, not over the expense, but the learning curve. Then I got it! Almost no learning curve, because it seems to read my mind. Oh, that’s a bit scary! But the new ones are more intuitive, I think. Glad you are having fun with yours!ReplyCancel

Great card… I love black and white and I love that bow… I’ll have to go back thru your tutorials because I don’t remember it!. I made my own bow maker per your tutorial some time ago and made two others for friends. I hope I won’t be missing out on any bows by not getting the CD that comes along with your new product. Through the wonder of the computer, I feel personally invested in your success with this new venture. I was lucky enough to meet Kelley Holland and her hubby this past weekend at the Lawrenceville, GA show. I have to echo what you have indicated so many times… friendly, open, lovely people.ReplyCancel

  • Pat JandacekFebruary 5, 2012 - 6:12 pm

Gorgeous card, as always, Becca! I had to respond about the cooking with gas. I was raised in Western New York State and that was an expression we used, except I never remember hearing ‘on the front burner’ which is even “more so!” I’m 72 yrs old now. I always supposed it was a remark handed down by those who upgraded from woodburning stoves to natural or propane gas when it became available. (My grandma still used a wood stove for cooking and baking until I was in my teens.) My hubby’s been trying to get me to buy a new computer for the last couple of years and I say “NO! I don’t want that learning curve.” Maybe I’ll surprise him the next time it comes up…mine is giving me fits. (He has a Mac that he loves.)ReplyCancel

An elegant card. I always laugh when you say “I need a quick card today”. I would take ages to think of doing something and still be far away from the results you produce. Inspired by your blog yesterday I went thru my stash and dug out things that a) I really like, b) have been saving for a special occasion or c) that as yet was unprepared to let go of! I have made a deal with my sister in the UK and she and I will encourage each other to use these “special” things in our projects. To ease the pain we will start by sending each other a card using some of our bits and bobs – worse case scenario we keep them in the family! Are we the only Weird ones?ReplyCancel
