Romantic Victorian Hearts Fan

Good Morning.  So are you catching on that I really love the Nested Hearts?  Yep.  I made a couple of projects during my behind the scenes time in July so I’m showing them now.  Today is the first of two posts of an ensemble I made that I even like myself.  What I mean is that this will be a "do again" gift.  My favorite is coming tomorrow, so you’ll have to come back and see – I think you’ll be a little bit surprised.

This is a vintage Victorian Hearts Fan made using Spellbinders Nested Hearts and Fancy Tags.  (I love Victorian Fans, I have another  that I did some time ago – you can see it HERE along with my post about the language of the fan.  You know you wouldn’t want to flop it wrong way and not know what it meant, lol!!).  What I did was cut/emboss 10 hearts and 10 tags.  Each of the items was distressed with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo distress inks.  I glued one heart to one tag and you can see in one of the photos below where I clipped the Fancy Tag so that I could interlock the bottom part of the heart. That gave me 10 pairings which I then glued back to back.  To finish off I gathered them all and tied a tassel and bow through the bottom loop of the Fancy Tag to keep things together.

My guess is that this was a less than 2 hour project.  It probably took me a little bit longer since I was creating as I went along.  Instead of using a stamp for embellishment I simply used the smallest heart to stencil a design on the fancy tag.
If you have not tried this, it’s no different than any other stencil – you mask off any areas you don’t want to use, hold your stencil on top of the paper you want to decorate then smudge ink through the holes using a sponge or pom pom or distress ink blender. When you lift the stencil away, you’ll be left with a delicate inked design.  Over the past couple of days many of you asked where I got the design from so be sure you pop over to see the nested heart templates – all the curlycue you see is part of the stencil design of the die template.

Project Recipe:
Stamps:  None
Paper:  Xpedx Cream Cardstock
Ink:  Colorbox Chalk Ink – Rouge
Accessories:  Spellbinders™ Nested Hearts, Spellbinders™ Fancy Tags, pearls, May
Arts Silk Ribbon, Tassel

That’s it for me today.   Don’t forget to come back tomorrow to see part two of this ensemble :-)
