Today was the first day of school, yay!! I saw her off this morning at 6am and she’s home now, and I already have an appointment with her guidance counselor… sheesh! I forgot how much effort it is to keep everybody on the same page when kids are in school. I would have had my post up earlier but mine was the typical house on the first day of school.
Today I’m sharing with you another sample from the newly release "Peace on Earth" set from Our Daily Bread Designs. The verse says "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. John 14:27" I am so taken with the serenity of this set so I wanted to try some tone-on-tone stamping with the gorgeous lion. It blended a little bit more than I wanted so I popped it out a bit by sketching over the embossed image with a white prismacolor pencil then wiping with a dry cloth. It put a little haze over the image and the ribbed paper really caught the white to show off texture. I know someone will ask, so I’ll go ahead and share my serendipity moment — I used jumbo brads on each corner of the card because I wanted it to have a classy look. Imagine my delight when I popped in a single gold brad for a different looking element – I likey. Of course I had to top everything off with a bow!!

I had the most fabulous weekend resting at home with my family. Church on Sunday was a highlight with a wonderful sermon from our pastor that fills me and has given me lot of bounce in my step. Thank you for those who come again and again. I hope you glean something that will inspire you but know that the encouragement and kind word you so freely offer is a great treasure to me.

Wow, people emailed me lots of questions about the most recent cuttlebug card that I did. Many wanted to know the name of the embossing folder I used and where to get it, so I decided to do another card using that same folder. The name of the folder is Gratitude and it’s a little bit different that other folders I’ve purchased. In addition to the A2 sized embossing folder, there was an A2 sized die cut that has several different phrases on it. This one is available at Hobby Lobby and you can look at it here.

For this card I paired the Gratitude Embossing Folder with some watercolor paper. Using a punch, I cut the center out of each flower and then cut the panel into a frame. Using my regular cropadile, I put an eyelet in each flower center. On top of my card base I added a panel of shimmery paper onto which I punched a border both on the bottom and on top. Ribbon was tied through the frame and the card was finished off with my watercolored image on top. This was a quick and easy card and gives you yet another view of this cool folder. I hope I answered some of the questions that have floated my way. I am soooo intrigued with this latest folder and have more ideas that I hope I can try out soon. I’m loving all the new Cuttlebug folders, hmmm….I might just need to get this out of my system.
I am still behind on email so thanks for your patience…I answer several a day and then I get back to the business of making new cards to post. Have a sweet, cozy day!

I have another card to share with you from the Peace on Earth set, newly released by Our Daily Bread Designs. As soon as I saw this dove, I knew that I wanted to make the simplest card possible using it. With three different scriptures in the set, initially it was a tough choice which one to use but I soon settled on the Matthew 5:9 verse.
This dove is so serene…I stamped it and the verse onto transparency that I had already cut with a circle cutter – the ink of course, was black Stazon. On the underside of the transparency I painted the dove with several coats of shimmery acrylic paint. This card is almost modular, all the pieces were cut and put together including the bow being tied before the clear image of the dove was put into place with a couple of glue dots. I could easily stamp some of the other images onto circular cut transparency and trade the images out. Although you can’t tell from this angle, the gold brads are paired with rondelles I raided from my beading supplies; they elevate the gold brads and add extra shimmer when looking from the side. The corners of the card are metal corner pieces that are pressed into place. The base of the card and the embossing are done on 90 lb watercolor for the oomph needed to get the embossing to pop, and the base paper is shimmery (camera doesn’t do it justice) melon colored paper from The Paper Company.

Yesterday marked the release of three new sets and one additional prayer stamp at Our Daily Bread Designs. Pop on over to see the sets in their entirety and remember that throughout the month I’ll be showcasing projects and cards from each set.
I hope your weekend is blessed with good family time and sweet rest!
