Flourishes Organza Damask Bag and Card Ensemble

The second I laid eyes on the Damask Stamp set from Flourishes, I knew it would look divine stamped onto organza.  I had an organza scrap in my craft room and tried it out, loving the results.  I decided to make a bag to hold an ensemble of "quick to make" cards.   The ensemble includes enough supplies to make at least 6 quick cards.  There are 6 blank cards and 12 medallions to be used interchangeably.  Foam tape is already applied to the back of each medallion so that they need only be selected and applied before putting into a package or the mail.  The card size is 4" x 4" and is really meant to be that type of card you include when you’re sending a package, but with the correct size envelope they can be mailed.

The occasions for the quick cards are Congratulations, New Baby, New Home, Happy Birthday, Happy Anniversary, Best Wishes, Thank You and For You.  Selecting the sentiments was an easy task, thanks to the Flourished Words set that grace each medallion.

Although it very easily could have been a sewing project, I decided to make it "no-sew" project and seamed the sides and top with red sticky tape.   I cut a piece of organza 6" x 15" and stamped the damask stamp 4 times.  Dye based ink will not work on organza (ask me how I know that!), so I used Brilliance Pearlescent Beige.  First I put two large or jumbo eyelets about 2" down from then top, then applied  one piece of red sticky tape on each side and burnished the seams with my finger.  I then applied one long piece of red sticky tape around the top which I then turned down two inches creating a casing for the ribbon.  I burnished the casing with my finger to seal the seam and then used a blunt embroidery needle to thread the ribbon and voila!, the bag was done.

This set is such a staple to my collection.  These are cards I can continue to whip up quickly and have on hand for little packages that I send out all the time!  I’m looking forward to making the bag again, but this time and since it is only three seams, I’ll try it out on my Sew Mini.

Supplies:
Stamps:  Flourishes Damask Background, Flourished Words
Paper:  Cottonwood – The Paper Company, Tan – Coredinations
Ink:  Brilliance Pearlescent Beige
Accessories:  Organza, Satin Ribbon, Large or Jumbo Eyelets, Gold Brads, Nestabilities

Happy stamping!  Be sure to share the passion of your craft with others.  What joy to receive a gift made by hand!

Becca — Your work is so beautiful that I always come to your site for inspiration before I make a card. Thank you so much for sharing it. I have a question about how you stamp the Flourishes background stamp on the paper while it is still in the die. I have tried it on watercolor paper like you do and I find I get an uneven impression. I also find the clear polymer stamps difficult to get inked up well. Do you have any tips and techniques you can share with me so that my backgrounds can look as wonderful as your do? Many thanks for your help! LauraReplyCancel
