A New Blog Feature – Questions & Answers

by on December 26, 2008

Have you asked me a question that was never answered?  I cringe because I’m a bad blogger and I know there are many of you that I haven’t gotten back to.  I am so sorry . . .

I have to confess that I am way, way behind on answering emailed questions, so far behind in fact that I wouldn’t know where to begin to get caught up.  All comments left generate an email to me and sometimes people slip a burning question in with their kind comments.  So what happens is those questions that are slipped into comments sink into oblivion if I’m busy working on something and can’t stop.  When I go back to try to find them, it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack.

I’m happy to say that I have a solution, so keep sending me the questions!!

I have a new page on my blog called Questions and Answers (how original!!)  That page has the Top 10 Most Frequently Asked Questions that I get and their answers as well as recent questions posed by readers.  In addition, there’s now a form where you can submit a question!!  Providing it’s not a duplicate, incomplete or inappropriate, those submissions may become a part of the Questions and Answers section where everyone else can see them and benefit from the answers.   Here’s the best part - every time a question is entered from the form on the Questions and Answers page, it is queued in my blogging software where I can see them at a glance instead of getting lost in my email.   You get an email acknowledging the question you asked, and when I answer it you get another email stating the answer, specifying if your answer will be published on the Questions and Answers page and if so outlining where you will find it!!

So, if there was something in particular you wanted to know about an card or post, and did not receive an answer, I’d encourage you to hop over to the Questions and Answers page and give me another shot at answering it.  I would ask that you be as specific as you can in  your questions; in fact, if you can give me the title of the post, it will help me zero right in to the item you are questioning.

Great idea to get more organized. I’m always looking to find ways to have things more organized and make my life easier but somehow I end up with too much to do or too many emails to look through just like you. Looks like you’ve found a good solution. I hope it works great for you.

Becca, this will be so-o-o helpful!!! I have attempted the circle with the corner punch but each time I either overlap and have a boo-boo or the last 2 are too far apart. How do you know how far from the edge to begin the punch? I love the effect. In fact I went by our local individually owned scrappin’ store and introduced the owner, Kim, to your website! She was absolutely amazed!!! As to your ribbons, I haven’t found them at our Michaels but I do visit the $1 bin regularly!!! Thanks for sharing your talent with all of us. In Mary Kay there is a Go-Give recognition for consultants who go beyond helping other consultants – You’d be at the very top of that list!!!!! Happy New Year! Neenie

Love the question and answer feature. Is this where you ask the questions? If so how did you cut the cut and dry to look so good. I have tried every way I know to cut it but it looks so bad.

Good evening, Becca, hope you had a lovely Christmas. This is such a superb idea with everything to hand just nicely. I did ask some questions about particular techniques you have used on specific cards but I shall put my thinking cap on to try to remember which ones and add my questions- Oh I really do like this idea :)

A fabulous idea Becca, I love it! I went to your Questions & Answers page to read, I’m totally impressed with your idea and may try to incorporate something like this on my blog in the new year when I get back to blogging. I’m taking time off to be with my son while he’s home.

First I want to wish your family Happy Holidays. My resolutions are to be better to myself and to put ink on most of my virgin stamps. I think part of my thrill is shopping. God bless you!

Positively Brilliant Becca!!!

Practical and a fun new section to explore. I found entries that led me to sections of your blog I’d never seen before though I would have sworn I’d surfed pretty much all of it!

My distribution buddies are loving it too! I predict you’ll have to stock up on more blog candy as you blow through the milemarkers with this new feature!

Dear Becca, thanks so much for all your inspiration that you are gracious enough to share. Your cards are simply beautiful and I love that you list the sources of everything you use! My question is: How do I participate in the Blog Candy? I am unschooled in using blogs and am never certain if I am connecting for the give-aways or not. Please, just a simple step-by-step explanation. Thank you.

I hate to bug you but the decoration you made with the scalloped nestie on your release day is gorgeous and I would like to know how you did it. I looks so difficult! I searched the other question and answers to see if someone had already asked but didn’t see it and I haven’t found a tutorial for it (don’t know if I missed it or not). Thanks.

Hey Becca,
I have been following the spellbinders previews and they have been so fun. I promise you I do believe that I enjoyed yours above all the rest. I’m sure you hear that all the time. The question that I have is about the card, Life is in bloom, that was on the spellbinders website. I couldn’t find it posted on yours and I was wondering what border punch you used or maybe it is a die? Ever since I started looking at your blog I want more punches. I am a collector. Thanks a lot, Becca.
God Bless
Connie

I hope this is the right place…one of your links to the question form doesn’t work, so I’ll try here. On your post of February 6/08, where you did the tutorial for the frilly flowers, I’d like to see if you have a tip about making sure that your punch is an even distance from the inner edge of the circle? I can’t seem to figure that out. Also–are there any tricks to getting the frills even spaced around the circle?

Love your work.

LOVE your cards…they are so perfectly done! I’d love to see a class…but where are you located??? I’m in northern IL. Do you have tutorials on YouTube? You are an inspiration. I hate to say this [don't mean to offend] but your cards intimidate me. They are that good. I especially love the layering and the ribbons used. Thanks. Con.

The ad in the May June Papercrafts magazine has your card shown and it is exquisite. I knew it was you before I seen your name in the fine print. My question is: It says you used the large scalloped circle. How did you fold it to get it like that? I am so intrigued by it.

Again, absolutely stunning!

Becca, I am not sure this is where I am to ask a question, but here goes.

You said on today’s post:

I stamp my acetate images twice and mount them together. Therefore if the ink on your image is uneven, it won’t be apparent when you combine the two images.

My question is how do you attach the two acetate images together?

Thanks!

Joan

Becca, I absolutely LOVE the Children of God design you created this week. It is so beautiful! I’m a silhouette fanatic and was wondering about the paper you used. I’ve searched online and can’t find it. Did you cut the silhouettes or were they on the paper?
Beautiful card – they all are!!!!!
God Bless you!

Hi Becca, Not sure how to do this exactly, but I wanted to ask if it was ok to link to your blog. I recently made a card using your cuttlebug circular embossing tutorial and when I posted it on a site I added a link to your blog to the post that had the tutorial. Hope that’s ok. I loved the tutorial and the card turned out wonderfully too. Thanks for the inspirational cards and for inspiring me so many times.

Hi Becca, I just love your site. You inspire us all to be the best we can be. What color copics do you use to color the skin on the Magnolia Stamps?

Hi Becca.
I liked the Spellbinder rose used on the And the Day Came card. I chk’d their site, using your link, and also searching, but couldn’t find the rose. Is it part of some set that you cut up? Also, is there a way to use the Grand Borders with a cuttlebug machine? I loved the white Your Reward card, wrote asking you about the grand borders, but have not found a reply as yet. I am awestruck at all the lovely, inspiring cards that you create. Thanks for your help and for sharing your talents.

Hi Becca,
Its just one of your pesky fans again. I am so pleased with your creativity that I have several friends now also following your blog. The lattice basket is our latest craft that we are are going to try to conquer. Your videos are going to be a big help. I emailed you about the template for the box that this is created with….thank you for your quick reply. You must be a very busy lady…I don’t even begin to understand how you do it…Can you give me a better idea of how long before the template will be up on your blog. We are making these baskets for Easter for our Grandchildren and I have eight to do. So of course I am anxious to get started…. Ihave been following your diagram and making the panels. Also where did you buy your ribbon from? Thanks again for all your beautiful work …you are truly a blessing in our lives.
