My heart just melted . . .I have to tell you this story. I’ve been married for 26 years and today my husband surprised me in such a way that my heart just melted. It happens all the time but this was a really big one. I was gone most of the day and had left him at home – there was tons of stuff I needed to do. Whenever I finally did get home he told me he had to make a confession. What? I was standing back in the bedroom and he opened up his dresser drawer and pulled out a small pile of papers. He said I’ve been working on this card for you and I got stuck . . . THUD!! After I got up off the floor, I looked at what he had in his hands and it was all of the pieces of the above card, minus the ribbon and minus the wording and plus some other punched borders he was going to try out. You see he had gone over to my studio and knew what he wanted to do but didn’t know where to find the items. Had he not hit that obstacle, he would have finished without me knowing it. I took the pieces in my hand and looked them over incredulously . . . I realized that when he would come out to talk to me while I was stamping, he was really watching me. He was mentally recording how to do things and where I stored things. You can’t imagine how long I was speechless. And, you can’t imagine how long I smiled. I’m telling you, my heart simply melted. So he asked, can you help me find the other things I need? I told him, "For Sure!" He said, now you can’t post this!! Then I said "Of course honey, I won’t."
So we went over to the studio and located the JustRite Letters for his sentiment and the ribbon. I know what you are thinking. You’re thinking that I put my hands on this card. Well, I did, but only to tie that piece of red ribbon. Otherwise this was all my sweeties doing – he knows how to use Spellbinders and from watching me he used an aquapainter and colored that rose on his own! Not bad for a first attempt, hunh? This is why 26 years has flown by and how I know I’m more blessed than is humanly possible.
Here’s his recipe:
Stamps: Flourishes – I Love Roses, JustRite – Brayton Alphabet
Paper: Bazzill, 140lb Watercolor and ????
Ink: SU Ruby Red, SU Always Artichoke, Black Brilliance
Accessories: Ribbon, Spellbinders Tags 5, Spellbinders Scalloped Heart, EK Success Heart Punch, Brads, aquapainter
what a lovely and special surprise.
i wish my husband would do something like that.
You must be very special, for him to go to all that trouble, lucky you.
May it long continue.
Forgot to say, it is a really lovely card,
for a first timer.
Wow, what a wonderful surprise!! He needs lots of hugs!
Well Becca, when I read your post my heart melted too. You are truly blessed to have a husband who clearly cares about you so much! Sarah, UK
What a beautiful story to share with us!
It brought tears to my eyes! He is a wonderful husband who really loves you. No surprise there tho… You area wonderful person!!!!
The card is beautiful too! and again, no surprise there… with such an incredible artist… it must’ve rubbed off… ;-)
Aw Becca. That is the sweetest thing ever! He did a GREAT job! I dont think I could even use my Aqua painter that well. Congrats on 26 years of marriage and how lucky you are with a man that sweet!! Such A cute share, thanks!
Wonderful husband, wonderful card…praise God from whom all blessings flow……and your husband is a blessing.
It must be a female reaction because my heart melted too. That is the sweetest thing. Absolutely priceless. My father is from the old school and doesn’t wear his heart on his sleeve. Quite a few years ago on Valentine’s Day he went out in the snow and walked the words I LOVE YOU! My mom still talks about it today. Your husband is a keeper!!!
Becca that is one of the sweetest things I think I have heard in a very long time. What a Truly loving thing to do. Especially when you think he was paying note to all you were doing for how long? SO THAT he too could make the card for you. Just too sweet for words. He certainly Loves you, where you Live, too so to speak…..too much!
What a Sweetheart, you never know what is going on in hubbys mind, I know my husband surprises me with the little things he does. Well done Becca youve got a Gem for a Hubby, and please tell him that his card is Absolutely Brilliant Im not sure that I would have done as well. HES PRICELESS.
My word ~ Your husbands love for you melted my heart also! Lovely!!
This is just awesome! I got chill bumps all over……You are truly blessed ..
Have a Blessed Day!
Wow what a lot of love went into that card, and what a clever husband you have, his card is beautiful.
This card is beautiful! He did an awesome job!
Wow, its the little things like this that they do that floor you the most. You can see the love and attention that he put into this card and for him to go into “uncharted territory” to do this for you shows how much he loves and adores you. Well done Mr “Becca Stamps” you da man! xx
Your husband is wonderful, he obviously does not take you for granted even after 26 years (same as me actually). Mine also likes to show his appreciation but I don’t think he would go the length of actually trying to make a card….you luck thing!
Oh ya….tears in my eyes….he’s a keeper for sure!!!
What can you say!! It’s not the beautiful finished project; it’s not the colors chosen; it’s not the layout (which is fantastic); it’s not the ability to use a die cut machine or other tools; it’s not even the sentiment – it’s the fact that he is so in love with you that he wanted to reach deep in his heart to try to express his feelings for you by ‘creating’ something with his own hands!! How blessed you are! I’ll be married 26 years in April and mine is great, too (although I couldn’t see him doing this-he wouldn’t know where to begin to look for a thing in my room, but he makes up in many, many other ways).
What an awesome husband you have.
WOW!! awesome card Becca.. what a talented husband you have there. he obviously watches a lot of what you do.. how very special for him to make his own card.. thanks for sharing it with us.. I wont dob on you hehehe e
Oh that is just the sweetest story ever! He’s a keeper!
How sweet! I know you’ll treasure this card forever.
Oh how very sweet he is and very talented too! The card is just lovely. You truly are blessed! ~chris
How sweet! That melted my heart, too! He did a great job, too. See, that just goes to show that it’s not the size or cost of the gift, but the feeling and heart that goes into it that’s most important. You are such a lucky woman…..
Wow, you are truly blessed. His card is absolutely beautiful. What a sweet husband. I pray you will continue to have “many” more years together. I love when women share beautiful stories like this one. It also melted my heart…..:-)
He did an awesome job, my sweetie made my valentine card too, sure makes it extra special doesn’t it!
Ohhhh!! How AWESOME!!! I think your talent has rubbed off on your husband! I just can’t imagine how joyous your heart must have been when you saw this—-he knows where to touch your heart—-and OURS!!
God Bless you both!!!
You are so blessed. I am sitting here with tears in my eyes because of your husband’s thoughtfulness and love.
Thanks for sharing this with us…God bless you both.
How sweet is that!!! What a keeper!
My heart goes out to him, what a wonderful man. To do that for you is so special it brought a tear to my eye too.
Clasp that man to your bosom with hoops of steel and never let him go. lol!! he is one in a million.
Huge hugs to him, he’s a star.
What a blessing. We often think that our husbands don’t care about what we do as long as we are happy. This right here shows that they do care and that they do pay attention. He knows what makes you happy and he gave his best (which is stunning to say the least!!!!!) and surprised you in such a special way. Belated “Happy Anniversary” by the way. May God bless you with many more.
What a beautiful card!! He did a wonderful job, too. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! What a blessing. My hubby confessed that he was going to make me a card but could not find the time alone to get into my stamping stuff wihtout me knowing
Way cool. You better keep him.
That man really loves you! You are a blessed woman!
what a lucky woman you are of course we don’t need to tell you that.
Becca….this has to be one of the most loving stories I have ever heard! Thank you so much for sharing it….obiviously you love each other so much and I hope you share this story with many others.
That man of yours is some talented! Let me know when he gets his own blog!
He is so thoughtful and talented as well! His card is beautiful! You are certainly blessed.
Oh Becca how sweet!! I think that you would of had to peel me off the ground too. What a sweet heart, no wonder you’ve been together for so long ~ your both the perfect match!! Hold on to him tight, there are not many like him out there.
That is something to treasure – maybe in a shadow box with your pictures.
OMG! He is definitely a keeper! He did a wonderful job on the card. It is stunning. It gives hope to us all that love is alive and well and romance is still available no matter how long we’ve been together.
There needs to be more men out there like this. Thanks for sharing.
Greetings fom Buffalo, NY… All I can say is WOW! My husband gave me one of my own cards once (with a note on the bottom that said he owed me for the card), but I would never expect him to attempt to make one. Your hubby did an awesome job…I wish I could watercolor like that! You are truly blessed, Becca! Thank you for sharing, Debbie from Buffalo, NY
That’s fantastic! What a sweetheart!
Ok, I actually teared up reading your post about hubby. OH MY GOSH – what a sweet man and how blessed you must feel. Give that man a big hug from all of us for his thoughtfulness. You have a keeper!!!
OHHHH, how precious! How blessed you are to have someone who loves you enough to do this…all on his own! I’m so impressed! His work is better than mine! All I can say is he has a good mentor!
You both are so fortunate to have shared this many years and are stronger than ever. What an inspiration you both are! Congratulations!
That is awesome! He did an AMAZING job!
How sweet! Although my husband is the most wonderful man in the world, I think yours just might come in a close second! You definitely picked a winner 26 years ago. Men like this make it easy to keep going for 26+ years! Tell him that even though you didn’t post this, all of the stamping community thinks he’s got real potential! Thanks for sharing such a great story with us. Cathy
My heart melted for you! He did an awesome job!! Looks like your talent is rubbing off on you hubby.
Wow, what a blessing! He melted your heart but from all the comments it obvious that he melted all of our hearts. This is such a big thing that cost nothing but time and effort on his part. It just goes to show that while flowers, jewlery, etc. are appreciated, it’s the things from their heart that melt ours. Your husband has touched all of us with his love for you. What a sweet story, thank you for sharing it with us.
Your dear hubby deserves a standing ovation for that wonderful creation and even moreso for his desire to be able to touch you in a special way! What a wonderful Valentine’s gift – so much more than something purchased. I’m sure you’ll treasure it for a long time! Blessings to him for honoring and serving his wife as per Eph 5!! At this rate, he will been his own ID and gallery on SCS :)
That is so touching! Can you imagine him taking the time and patience in putting each little piece together to show how much he loves you… that is love!!
I have a very nice hubby also – he is not creative with paper, but in the kitchen…
Congratulations to both of you on 26 years of marriage (I am about to celebrate 30)!
Please continue to love and nurture each other, that’s what marriage is all about!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a wonderful Valentine surprise for you! This lovely act shows how much your husband loves you! What a treasure you will have forever in both his card and himself! Tell him his card is great, too! Congratulations on 26 years of marriage, too!
Becca, this man is a keeper. The card is beautiful even if the ribbon had been left off. He is really talented.
My husband did the same for me once on my birthday. It wasn’t as polished as the one your husband did but means every bit as much to me as I’m sure your card does.
I read this to my husband, who is also one who would do the same and when reading this to him, we both had tears in our eyes. We are so lucky, aren’t we?
How special is that? It’s funny what our husbands see. I will be in my craft corner and my husband and kids often come to see what I am playing with. He plays with the punches, stamps and has even made a few of my sons scrapbook pages. He is a woodworker/carpenter so he fully understands the need to create and play too! What a nice thing your husband did for you. It truly is the little things that make life so grand!
How sweet – what a great story and thank you for sharing it with us.
Are we not blessed beyond measure with the loving husbands God has brought into our lives??
The card is beautiful. I have such a sweet “visual” of him standing there with all the “pieces”…
Truly an awwwwwwww moment.
My husband wants to learn to make cards also. I think it’s great! Big hearts *smile*
Ain’t love grand!!!!!!!! Fantastic story….Fantastic couple!!!!! We’ve been married 41 yrs…..doesn’t seem possible……’cause MANY times I still get that tickle in my tummy….just like when we were 18 yrs old. Enjoy your Man…..the card is AWESOME
thanks for sharing such a heart felt story. its all about the thought that really matters and his thouhgt wa a 1000 times fold. you are a blessed women. big hugs and kisses to him the card is priceless
This is so beautiful!! Love your story. What a wonderful man and he did a great job. It was so thoughtful of him and such a wonderful surprise.
My word, your husband is priceless. I had a lump in my throat as I was reading your ‘story’. The card is wonderful.
Becca, My heart is melting too. That card was so full of love. You are one lucky lady! Congratulations to both of you for having such a wonderful and loving marriage.
Congratulations to both of you for all of the love that you obviously share with one another. It is so awesome to hear stories like this. You both are very lucky to have each other.
Becca he is a keeper so sweet.
Becca,, I check your blog daily and absolutly love your cards. I get so many ideas and inspiration from your site. But today tops all of them. Not because it is the most beautiful or the most intricate card but because its one of the most heartfelt and sincere cards ever. My dh is my best critic, my encourager, and cheerleader but he would never attempt to make me a card. He and WalMart are friends in the card section. I save every one he gives me because I know that the ones he picks out are from his heart. But, to have my hubby even pick up a stamp would just drop me. And we have been married 41 years. What a wonderful memory for both of you. God IS good.
Okay Becca – I’m amazed!!!! Your hubby made such a beautiful “from the heart” gift for you – AND he did it so well. He’s obviously had a great teacher – even if you didn’t know you were teaching.
He’s a keeper!
Your story made me smile…yes you are very lucky….and made we want to share my quick story. I am in a wonderful relationsip for the last 7 years. A week before Valentines day my sweetie ended up in the hospital having a quaruple bypass and valve replacement. I surely didn’t expect anything for valentines. Just like your husband, my partner has been watching me….even though I am just starting to learn myself. When he came out of surgery…the next day even though highly medicated, he told me he had secretly made me a card and hid it in the closet, but not to look until Valentines day. Here is a man with a VERY BIG HEART……. I will share your story with him today at the hospital.
Thanks for everything you give us from your heart
Well, I am extremely impressed with this card. OK, and a lot jealous too! The cutting is perfect and the placement of each piece just works. You are one lucky girl over there.
Truly awsome. How thoughtful and unique. Your husband would make a wonderful Consultant.
Love your site. My DH made me a card at Christmas which I really appreciated but as he does not hang around my craft room very much, he is not as capable as your DH is in the making of this card. I even showed it off at my LSS and the gals there were impressed that he would even attempt to make a card. I’ll make sure they look at your site.
KUDOS to your hubby!!!!
WOW, I’m impressed! What a wonderful husband and relationship you have. Your talents move many hearts and souls and it all starts in your home. My husband also comes to my craft room while I’m working to visit and chat….hmmmm…I’m wondering if by chance he’s also watching and learning. Thanks for sharing this warm story.
awww, that is just so very sweet!!
What a wonderful story Becca and what a talented man he is….. Thanks for sharing his beautiful card and the wonderful story…. made me puddle up……
This is so sweet, and it makes me tear-up! He sounds like a wonderful man and husband. I hope you both share much happiness, always.
That just brought tears to my eyes! What a wonderful and romantic man you have there! He is very special. I’ve been married 36 years. I was 18 and he was 19 when we got married. He is not super romantic, but every once in a while he does something that just “melts my heart”, so I know that feeling.
Wishing you many more years of heart melting!!
AAAAAAW! My hubby would just go to the drug store and buy a card. LOL
He did a beautiful job on the ROSE (WOW!!) and all the layers and everything. I would melt too. He’s definitely a KEEPER
This would be something my hubby would do. We are blessed!
You are a very lucky lady! Love the card, and especially that he made it for you.
You are TRULY blessed….what a guy!! My husband appreciates my work but is also very quick to say he does not like or DOES like something….he hate’s busy cards as do I and have not heard that much this past year. It must be the influence of the blog stars.
What an act of love. It’s good to know your goodness is so loved – Nimmy
hey Becca! You will have more posts on this card than on any card you may ever do…
I can’t believe he would know what to do to make you happy and surprised at the same time!
you should have videotaped him working and show all the other husbands!!
for 1st time card maker he is a good student of yours!
Give Mr. Feeken a high FIVE for me!!
he is a keeper…
and I am sure you are a keeper to him too =)
May the Lord continue to bless and protect your marriage…
I have tears in my eyes just reading this…it so touched my heart. I can only imagine what it did for you!
You are blessed with an incredible husband!!! That was SO sweet of him to do that for you. May he continue doing sweet stuff for you forever (and reciprocated, of course!). :-D
congratulations on 26 years of marriage! That’s so great! This year will be 16 for us. That was really sweet of your husband to do that for you–brought tears to my eyes too! My husband spent hours last year for our 15th putting together a card with multiple pages. He used pictures from our wedding and different verses from the Bible to express his love for me. It was very touching.
Have a wonderful day and enjoy that card!!!
So my eyes have welled up with tears. Tell your husband we all think that was the sweetest thing to do.
Wowers, you are such a lucky lady!! Lucky in Love too!
That is the sweetest, most romantic thing! He did a wonderful job on your card.
Oh Becca, that is such a sweet card and an even sweeter story. You have a wonderful husband and they are hard to find. I have one too who gives me great encouragement in my cardmaking even tho’ he wouldn’t know where to start himself. We will be celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary in March.
Wow! I thought it was your creation until I read your story. I hope he isn’t mad at you for posting it anyways, because it is truly gorgeous. My eyes were watering after I read your story. You truly have the world’s most thoughtful and romantic husband. My husband is supportive and proud of my creations, but I don’t think he would ever attempt this. What a sweet man. Tell him we all said he did a fabulous job!
What a sweetheart!!! Don’t ya’ just luv it????? Now this is truly a gift of love. Don’t dare to dispose of this card. In fact, frame it or put it on an easel beside your bed!
I love that man! I was hoping my hubby would do something like that but guess what – I got one even better – since I don’t generally clean up after myself, he came into my studio and cleaned the laminate floor on his hands and knees – while I was making his valentine card! Now that’s true love! Sounds like we have a couple of keepers here. We are going on 29 years in May. Thanks for sharing this special story Becca – and Happy Valentines Day!
Oh this is so sweet! And the card is adorable!!
You have got to be just about the most blessed woman alive….
Oh Becca!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have a real winner with your husband!!!!!
I known for 26 years that you have a keeper. I am not suprised at the love and care that your sweetie put into this project, it is wonderful.
Becca you are a blessed person to have such a kind and wonderful husband. Lovely card.
that is the cutest and most wonderful story ever! My husband looks over my shoulder occasionally to offer suggestions or ‘inventions’ to make my life easier, but the most he has offered (and I am not complaining mind!) is to pick a card off of our card program on the computer and print it out for me :)
Awwww, that is such a precious and sweet story. He did a fabulous job for his first card. I would have thought he had been making cards for years and actually, I would have guessed it to be one of yours, so he is a really good student in observation :). Now you know you will have to do a scrapbook page and place that card as the star of the page with the entire story journaled. What a wonderful, wonderful story to preserve for many future generations of your family. Thanks so much for sharing your story Becca. God bless you both.
O my gosh Becca! That is the sweetest thing your hubby did to surprise you. Happy Anniversary!
Oh Becca~~~I can’t help but smile too! That is so precious.
What a wonderful husband you have! If this the card he made, he did a FABULOUS JOB! I can’t think of anything more romantic than what he did! It certainly appears you married the right man!
I hope you has a fabulous Valentine’s Day!
Well after reading your surprise story, I ran for the tissue box. What a wonderful surprise from your husband. I’d hold on to him, there aren’t that many out there like him. Happiness to both of you.
What a sweet story, Becca. And a sweet man – you are indeed blessed!! He did an awesome job, too!!
Truly a gift from the heart – no wonder your heart turned to treacle!
I’m absolutely in shock! This card is gorgeous! I cannot believe he did this! Oh, I am so touched that he would invest his time in doing something for you, and something that he knew you would love. What a sweetheart! And thanks for sharing with us, Becca!
Oh, how sweet!
Geez, can your husband give me lessons? Awesome card!
That’s the sweetest story ever Becca! I think I’d weep if my hubby ever did something like this, let alone watch me. I think in the past three years, he’s been in my stamping room twice . . . .LOL. I don’t know why Spike TV interests him more than my stamping . . . bwahaahaa!!!!
Lovely story and a lovely card. I will share the story with my hubby tonight over dinner. God bless you dear Becca.
Becca, I am sitting here fighting back the tears. The relationship between you and your sweetie never ceases to amaze me. Tell the Mr. that he did a fabulous job both with his card making and his heart warming…lol. Love you both.
WOW…amazing. What a special union; I pray you’re blessed with many, many more years together!!
Oh Becca…that just melted my heart. A beautiful Valentine you have. I have one of those kinds of guys too…SO blessed!
What a great story and a tribute to your relationship and your wonderful and sweet partner! Thanks so much for sharing – I’m so glad you did – it made my day! :) I feel just as lucky with my husband and will share this story with him!
Ok, literally? I teared up. A lot.
You lucky, lucky girl! :)
Wonderful story Becca. Your husband now has his own fan club so far 120 strong :)
Oh Becca, that is so wonderful!! My hubby does that too, talks but really stalks (the good kind)!! Your hubby did a phenomenal job on that card, I thought for SURE your hands were all over it!!! =)
Becca, I would have been crying my heart out. Things like this just break me up into little pieces. They would have been happy tears, though. What a sweetheart he is! He did a wonderful job with your supplies, too!
omgosh Becca—that is just too sweet….he did a great job too!
It’s when they watch us and listen that we know they truly love us. You are blessed with a pearl above price.
I love your blog you are so talented and I always enjoy looking at all of your works of art.
I just came across this one posting and OMG my heart melted too. Your husband sounds like the most compassionate hubby ever – I felt like crying when you explained how he took the card pieces out and asked for your help. What a lovely soul, congrates on such a successful marraige. Happy Anniversary!!!!!
I’m still wiping the tears from my eyes as I scroll down the long list of responses to your post. Beautiful Card! His love for you emanates through his work. Have you ever thought of framing his card in a picture frame? Then you could hang it on the wall as a piece of art. Thanks for sharing with the rest of us. BTW My husband and I will be celebrating our 25th Anniversary in June this year.

What an amazing story of love in the truest sense of the word. My hubby looks at different things I show him, sometimes critiques, but not to make for himself. Yes, he loves YOU! God’s blessings to you and your home!

Becca, I hope that card gives you as much comfort as all my cards from my Sweetie has given me.
I know everyone goes through this differently.
But I think I might know how you are feeling a little.
My Sweetheart has been gone EXACTLY 3 years to the day longer than yours.
But I get his cards out that he has gave to me over the years and read them very often.
I wish you peace and comfort.
This post was the perfect ending to a perfect Thanksgiving day…thank you for sharing what angels really do when we are gone from the house! You can just feel the love he poured into this card. I still pray for your peace every day.
You’re blessed with True love, and his love lives still though he’s now with Heavenly Father.
