Flourishes Christmas Poinsettia

by on October 16, 2008

T

Nothing like a poinsettia to get you in the Christmas mood!  This is one of the Flourishes new releases, Poinsettia and Boxwood.  There are 10 images in the set including a large and small poinsettia and leaves.  It’s such an elegant image and the possibilities are endless.

I wanted to make a pink and white poinsettia.  I stamped the poinsettia four times on watercolor paper – one embossed but not colored to use as a base.  Two full poinsettia were colored and stacked on top of each other and from the final poinsettia I cut out just the center leaves and popped them up. The images are embossed with Gold Embossing powder and colored with Tombow markers.   Corner pieces were added, as well as a tag and a final ribbon.

Supplies:
Stamps:  Flourishes – Poinsettia and Boxwood
Paper:  Swathmore 140 lb Watercolor
Ink:  Versamark and Gold Embossing Powder
Accessories:  Nestabilities Tag Trio, Ribbon, 2 Gold Brads, Tombow Markers

Don’t forget to check out my Blog Candy Post  below, I will be selecting a winner on Saturday.  Have a Happy Stamping Weekend!!

Good evening, Becca – I love using poinsettias on my Christmas cards but, of course, I use 3d découpage images. But this card takes my breath away – a truly elegant card.

Becca,

So pretty and elegant. I love the way you layered the flower and its leaves. I have got to know something, where did you get those pretty gold corner accents. They look so pretty next to all of the gold embossing and gold brads.

Oh Becca!
Once more I am speechless! You’ve provided yet again inspiration for those of us that so admire your work and are looking for ways to improve our own. I think one of the things that make your works of art so beautiful is the use of the watercolor paper…whereas I have only used cardstock until now…I think a higher grade of paper must be my next purchase! Thanks again! Dusty
