Day 10 – 30 Days of Giving

Card Making Ideas by Becca Feeken using Spellbinders - www.amazingpapergrace.com
Saving the Written Word

If you’re not familiar with 30 Days of Giving and how you can receive this card,  read about it HERE.  You can check to see if you’ve won a card by looking under the Features menu item and selecting Giveaway Winners.

Good morning and Happy Friday.  If you’ve been peeking in for the last 10 days, you know that I’m taking this month to gush over the hand written word and the old fashioned ways of keeping great memories with pictures, actual notecards and letters and the gift of giving handmade.  I’m always concerned that so much of our treasure lives in our computers in the way of family pictures and heartfelt words spoken in emails.  I know that what we’re all feeling in our hearts is confirmed on a daily basis.  On Wednesday as Wall Street shut down and United Airlines had to ground all their flights because none of that stuff can ever be done manually – a little glitch brought those enterprises to their knees.  It reminds me of when I pressed youngest daughter to hone up on her math skills in case she got a part time job running a cash register.  She huffed at me and told me my worry was insane because the cash registers take care of everything themselves . . .

For today’s comment –  Is there anything you do the old fashioned way instead of relying on a machine to do it?

The card that’s being given away today is shown above.  Just a note – this is a card that has been shown before and there is a possibility that some of the supplies that were used are currently discontinued, no doubt there will be something you can substitute – have a look through my galleries for alternative ideas.  Many things can still be found on the open market, just google and you’ll find that many retailers are still selling.

Oh my this is just Beautiful!! Yes I still wash a lot of my dishes by hand, I do have a dishwasher but it is getting old so I just wash them by handReplyCancel

    • Sherry RoseJuly 10, 2015 - 10:02 pm

Lol Connie…I find myself washing dishes by hand because I am so used to it from when I lived in a small apartment. Now I’m married and have a home. My husband comes in and says, “Why are you doing that? We have a dishwasher, you know!”ReplyCancel

      • Becca FeekenJuly 11, 2015 - 8:08 am

On certain days, washing dishes by hand is therapeutic. As you hold each one in your hand and wash, it gives you time to speculate about whatever is on your mind :-)

  • Diana NguyenJuly 10, 2015 - 7:14 am

Beautiful – love the pearls! I still wash my dishes by hand – my friends say I use the dishwasher as a drying rack!ReplyCancel

  • MaryannJuly 10, 2015 - 7:17 am

Oh my another piece of beauty here today Becca. This is so fabulous and gorgeous.
I´m definitely oldfashioned, when it comes to calculating, and I think it´s terrible that none young people can calculate even the smallest amount in their heads anymore, even I think it has to be a part of every kids education to learn that.ReplyCancel

  • Lela PlattJuly 10, 2015 - 7:18 am

Beautiful card today as always. Love the sentiment. I still read real books rather than books on a Kindle or Nook. Love the feel of holding that book and turning pages.ReplyCancel

  • JudyJuly 10, 2015 - 7:24 am

Boy, this question really makes you think about all our modern conveniences! I don’t use many kitchen gadgets.I hand cut all my vegetables-potatoes, carrots, celery, etc. I don’t use box mixes. I am sure I will read other answers and say “Oh,yea I do that too.” Great question. Can’t wait to read comments! Beautiful card.ReplyCancel

  • Marlene IacuzziJuly 10, 2015 - 7:24 am

Since I’m not too computer literate, I rely on my rubber and acrylic stamps and ink pads for the images and sentiments on my cards. I enjoy coloring in the areas. Can that be considered “old fashioned.”ReplyCancel

  • Peggy AllenJuly 10, 2015 - 7:26 am

Another beauty. I do make my own laundry detergent and bake from scratch instead of boxes most of the time.
    God bless,
    PeggyReplyCancel

  • Colleen HowellJuly 10, 2015 - 7:27 am

Wow, love this card today. I adore all the different dies used and the colors are great, I love purple but it is a color that can not be used as well like some of the others. Just Gorgeous!
Your question is a hard one today, technology is every where these days so you do not get to do a lot of things without some part of it being used. I guess my only thing I still do is kinda like what you wanted your daughter to do. Math has always been my best subject, I still to this day will figure it out in my head. I can add, subtract, multiply and divide in my head quicker than most of my friends or co-workers can on a calculator. I am still amazed by the number of people younger and older than I that can not do it in their head. Don’t get me wrong there are times I need that calculator for larger numbers but for the most part I can do it without it.ReplyCancel

My whole life is anti-tech or low tech. I don’t own a cell phone, which makes me a dinosaur. My husband just bought a new TV and tried to show me how to use it…well after Step 4 of 25 steps he lost me. I don’t need surround sound, a sub woofer, a tuner or all of the other equipment he has, just let me push the On/Off button.
When I got my first job 25 years ago I worked for a very stingy and miser of a man. He would not let his employees use the cash register to ring up purchases because it wasted register tape…So we had to add all purchases plus taxes in our head and use the register only for end totals. To this day it amazes my friends when I do this when I shop at the grocery store.ReplyCancel

Beautiful card. This really made me think today and the only thing I can think of is that I like to die my ribbon sometimes and to make my own backing paper… Does that count!! Thank you as always for encouraging us in our crafting xxxReplyCancel

  • Cathy HomanJuly 10, 2015 - 7:32 am

    I still wash dishes. I don’t even own a dishwasher.ReplyCancel

    Beautiful card! Love the purple!!
I prefer to wash dishes by hand even though we have a dishwasher and also cooking with a cast iron skillet like my grandma did.ReplyCancel

  • InnaJuly 10, 2015 - 7:48 am

Oh, Becca! How I love your delicate openwork card! And you often use my favorite color – purple and violet, as in this fine specimen!
I would never trade a real printed book from the printing on the E-Book. Always with the opportunity to buy books, and his son, graft habit. He has an entire children’s library.
Once I wash dishes by hand so far.
And I do not use the kitchen grinders.ReplyCancel

  • ANN ROBBINSJuly 10, 2015 - 7:49 am

Super card, Becca! Love the lattice background!

Having worked for 45 years in the accounting field, before and after computers, I am fairly saavy in that regard, but I still use detailing the old style when analyzing, doing bank statements and anything that has to do with money. I guess I was so used to audits that I always learned that you left a paper trail and never had a problem. Also learning the Palmer method of handwriting, still write clearly so anyone can read your handwriting. My mother always drummed that into my head “to write large enough and clear enough so anyone could read it. So I still have a good handwriting.

Oh my, where do I start? Handmade cards of course (hehehe). My husband and I cook from scratch almost every meal, chopping and cutting all the fresh ingredients ourselves. My sweet mother washes all the dishes–she thinks a dishwasher is evil! This is my favorite card so far–purple is my go to color for EVERYTHING!!! Have a peaceful day dear Becca!ReplyCancel

Hi Becca, I have had a very hard time finding how to leave a comment. I finally found a way today. I could not even send an email to you. Anyway…enough of that. I always admire your cards and techniques. I would be very honored to own any one of them.ReplyCancel

  • BenteJuly 10, 2015 - 8:02 am

Amazing card with beautiful colors today, Becca!
I don’t look at myself as particularly oldfashioned and I am trying to keep up in our technical everyday life :)
The only thing I can think of is that I am still reading books the “old” way, and almost every day I do small dishes by handReplyCancel

  • Barbara WilsonJuly 10, 2015 - 8:04 am

Hem clothing items by hand. I still wash dishes by hand. I can vegetables from the garden.ReplyCancel

We used to have three dish washers but now that our two daughters are married and gone we have one ~ ME! (My husband does hand wash dishes himself occasionally, too!) :-)

Thank you for the chance to win your stunning card!ReplyCancel

  • MildredJuly 10, 2015 - 8:13 am

How can each card be more beautiful than the last one! Even though I have a dishwasher I wash the pots and pans, measuring cups and spoons and my beloved ancient original Pyrex mixing bowls by hand. I like to clean up as I go. And I read a “real” paper book to hand in my hands and listen to the wonderful sound turning a page makes. Thank you for this fun exercise, Becca.ReplyCancel

  • Doreen RitchieJuly 10, 2015 - 8:17 am

Truly gorgeous card today Becca; although I’ve never seen a “not gorgeous” card from you!! Your question really had me thinking hard and I have to confess, I had to look at other comments to remind me! I very rarely use a calculator, and certainly not to add up a lot of figures. I cook from scratch every day and wouldn’t even consider using a machine to chop my vegetables. I do use a dishwasher for crockery and cutlery but always wash pots and pans by hand.

  • LoisJuly 10, 2015 - 8:17 am

I do not remember when this most beautiful card first came out. It is really very stunning. Thank you.
It was hard to think of something I do the old fashioned way. Some dishes I do by hand, most meals are from scratch (I have even cooked on a wood stove for 2 years). We still drive to some vacation spots. We live on a shaded parcel of land so I can’t hand the clothes out to dry. It’s a shame some things will just go away with each passing generation.
Thanks again for giving us the chance to win one of your beautiful creations.ReplyCancel

  • Judy RyanJuly 10, 2015 - 8:20 am

Another beautiful card! The old fashioned way? Umm, let me think. A lot of times I still cut my base card and layers by marking with a pencil and then cutting the paper rather than measuring on my cutter.ReplyCancel

  • Peggy BJuly 10, 2015 - 8:21 am

This is my favorite card so far. I love the beauty of this card. This question is also a tough one. I do still stamp images and have never downloaded an image. I have a dishwasher but prefer to wash by hand.ReplyCancel

  • Sonia StephensonJuly 10, 2015 - 8:31 am

Hi Becca. Love this beautiful card. Such gorgeous dies and the purple is beautiful. I also still wash up by hand, as don’t have a dishwasher, but sadly must confess to using a calculator quite often, mainly for the quickness of it rather than trying to do sums in my head lol :-) Hugs xxxReplyCancel

  • Jean MarmoJuly 10, 2015 - 8:41 am

So pretty. Yes, I wash the dishes by hand.ReplyCancel

  • Clare WJuly 10, 2015 - 8:47 am

Love that lattice on your card. I don’t do online banking. I don’t do ebooks. And I like to read a real paper newspaper! And I don’t do online grocery shopping. I like to see exactly what I am buying especially meat, fruit and veggies.ReplyCancel

We still pay most of our bills by check via “snail mail.” We only use auto-withdrawal when we have to and don’t use online bill pay very often. I still carry an actual Bible to church rather than use an electronic version.ReplyCancel

  • Karen WeddingJuly 10, 2015 - 8:51 am

I still wash my dishes by hand rather than use a dishwasher. Of course it could be because I don’t have a dishwasher, but lets not get technical. Now that I have my Cricut and Silhouette machines, I prefer to use them to cut out all my paper piecings. Beautiful card as usual.ReplyCancel

  • Charlene DahlbergJuly 10, 2015 - 8:52 am

    HI Becca,
Your card is lovely and uses one of my favorite colors, Lavender. so so pretty.
I still try to memorize phone numbers instead of relying on my cell phone.Numbers seem to stick in my brain better than other things. And although I do order some things on line, I still prefer to make some purchases in person so I can actually see and feel what I buy. It is getting harder to do that ..ReplyCancel

  • Gretchen WilsonJuly 10, 2015 - 8:55 am

My colors Becca, anything purple gets my attention and it’s not that old ladies wear purple as I was told as a little girl by my sweet grandmother and mom. They just didn’t know how crazy I was going to get when I reach 70 in October, lol.
Yes there is one thing that I do not rely on is writing notes to myself to remember things, I have a stash on my table and bed, you see it seems like I always remember things that I need to do or get is when I get in bed. So I keep a pad of paper (bright colors that I found at the $tree) and a pen to jot things down. One thing to remember is to always tear the page off, or you might just write over it and then in the morning you are trying to see what you had written, sometimes a big mess.
    Hugs and God Bless,
    GretchenReplyCancel

  • Maria RodriguezJuly 10, 2015 - 8:55 am

Oh Becca, this is just gorgeous, but then again…..all of your cards are amazing.
Well, I do several things the old fashion way, one of them is add, subtract, multiply and divide with good old pencil and paper. I like to read a book and smell the pages, no electronic books for me and, even though I use my computer to email my friends, I still write letters and notes for them that I include on my handmade cards.
Thank you for the chance to win this lovely card.ReplyCancel

  • Rebya FalkJuly 10, 2015 - 8:59 am

I grow tomatoes instead of buying the “plastic ones”. That is the best thing I can think about right now. This card is my favorite, so far.
Thanks again, Becca, for sharing your beauty.ReplyCancel

Becca, it’s shameful but I generally use a machine for all my cutting. Dies and die cut machines are a big reason I love Papercrafting.ReplyCancel

  • ChristineJuly 10, 2015 - 9:07 am

Becca, I am not sure this is type of answer you seek, but I make bread from scratch, by hand. It was fun to learn how to bake bread and to refine my techniques, and I was becoming consistently successful when my brother gave me a bread machine for Christmas. He raved about how nice it was to have hot, homemade bread at the touch of a button. I had multiple amusing disasters with the machine before giving it away!ReplyCancel

  • Mary MacJuly 10, 2015 - 9:08 am

What a beautiful card. I love the sweet lavender heart and the gorgeous lattice background. I thought I was the only one in the world without a dishwasher – glad to see I’m not. • Dar SirrineJuly 10, 2015 - 9:34 am

As usual beautiful card Becca!! I still iron my own clothes, read real books, make most of my food from scratch, and walk if it is a reasonable distance. I really think I was born a hundred years to late. Even with all the hardships, I would have loved to live in the late 1800’s.ReplyCancel

Beautiful card! I still write notes the old fashioned way with a pen and paper. Hubby tries to convince me to just keep notes on my Ipad but I prefer to write down the note on a slip of paper that I will eventually misplace. :)ReplyCancel

  • Pat BargerJuly 10, 2015 - 9:39 am

Lively card today, Becca. Love the layering you did with the different dies! I do a lot of fussy cutting instead of using dies to cut out flowers, especially. I love to cut flowers and layer them on top of each other for a 3D effect. Don’t see much of that effect anymore. Thx for the chance to win this beautiful card!ReplyCancel

  • JessicaJuly 10, 2015 - 9:39 am

Again…gorgeous! I tend go go to a template, before breaking out a machine. I don’t do much fussy cutting. But if it’s straight forward shapes, I cut it out myself. Thanks, this has been fun.ReplyCancel

Another beautiful card Becca – the lilac is just yummy! Have a great weekend!!ReplyCancel

First thing that springs to mind is books. I can see the advantage of an e-reader for holidays, but I love the feel and smell of a bona fide book. I don’t have a dish washer so that’s certainly old fashioned! I do all my baking from scratch and never use box mixes. The same with sauces in cooking -make my own not packets. I’m sure there are loads of other things. But I’m not a dinosaur. I couldn’t do without my computer – but there are times when I could cheerfully do without my mobile phone! Hugs Christine xxReplyCancel

Oooo…Beautiful card Becca and you created with my favorite color. So delicate!! Becca its so sad that we depend so much on machines to do almost everything. I still like to hang my clothes out to dry and yes I do have a dryer but its so nice to be able to smell fresh clothes. I also have a dishwasher I do my dishes by hand–trying to conserve our precious water. I have to confess I do like the fact that I get to see your blog-HA! yes on my computer. But I think its worth it!!!!! THANKS!ReplyCancel

  • NancyRJuly 10, 2015 - 9:59 am

Love this! Purple is my absolute favorite color. Just painted my craft room purple.

The one thing that I do by hand is make lemonade. I happen to like the pulp in it, so I have a couple of the old fashioned glass lemon juicers that you press and twist the lemons on it by hand. I also do calculations in my head. A girl I was working with one time was amazed that I could do that…..needless to say she was quite a bit younger.ReplyCancel

  • Judy W.July 10, 2015 - 9:59 am

  • RonnyJuly 10, 2015 - 10:11 am

Love this card and the locket and the colors.
I still prefer to read a book and go to the library often. My husband likes his kindle, but I like a book in my hand. Sometimes I will just fussy cut things rather than getting out my Silhouette or Cricut. As for dishwashing yes, must have that dishwasher, I would rather be in my craft room playing than standing washing dishes. Getting lazy in my old age, so again standing and chopping and making from scratch isn’t what I call fun anymore. Although I most always make cakes, desserts from scratch and I do love casserols. Thank goodness my husband likes to cook and experiment. Have at it I say, I’m off to my craft room!ReplyCancel

  • Mary Jane SJuly 10, 2015 - 10:13 am

I still buy children’s books for my classroom and for my own children. Because though most books can be purchased as an eBook there is still something special about touching and reading a real book! :-)ReplyCancel

  • Dorina DJuly 10, 2015 - 10:29 am

WOW. I love that card with all those different dies and the purple accents. One of my favorite quotes. What do I still do the old fashioned way? I make rye bread from scratch, kneading it myself (not in a bread machine) every two weeks. It was the best way to make a healthy vegetarian bread that I could eat daily and I still can my own fruits and vegetables every summer, make my own jam and bake from scratch. With family members who have allergies, celiac disease and are vegetarian/vegan it is the easiest way to sure everyone can eat what I cook.ReplyCancel

Oh wow! Another beautiful card! Though I love the wonders of technology, I still prefer many things “the old-fashioned way”. Cooking “from scratch”, handmade cards and notes. We also grow our own vegetables – love the freshness of picking my own veges. And then, like someone else said, I also prefer taking my actual Bible to church. The traditional family is very important to me: husbands and wives fulfilling different roles yet together forming a loving unit seeking to raise the children they have been entrusted with in an atmosphere of mutual love and respect (an ideal we strive towards, though we always fall short :).ReplyCancel

Beautiful card – friends are SO important! what a beautiful card! And lovely sentiment. I do my dishes by hand (actually sold the dishwasher when we bought the house so I could have more cabinet space). And reading the real thing when it comes to books and magazines is just much better. Especially crafting/cooking and such – I can SAVE pages and get back to them much quicker and actually have them in front of me to refer too. Have a wonderful weekend!ReplyCancel

Every summer, I harvest tomatoes, and I always plant more than I can eat. I share with neighbors including the adult foster care folks in front of me…also my corn sweet peppers, squash, eggplant, herbs etc. then I buy boxes of seconds on ‘maters, and start roasting almost all the above veggies. (The boys never realize how much eggplant they’ve eaten, snicker). Once roasted along with onion and garlic, they go in my big pot, and they start slow and low with lots of fresh herbs and spices. And they cook and cook, and season a little more and cook some more, until hours later, out comes the stick blender and in a few moments, I have the most delicious sauce ever. Do that for a few days, and I have a loads of sauce in the freezer for whatever Italian dishes I want to cook in the next year. Then a do a few days of plain sauce…add in chopped bell peppers of every color, onions, garlic, meatloaf type spices, and I will have basic sauce for stews and soups for the year. Then on to put up creamed and regular corn, and whatever other veggies are left, a couple boxes of apples for sauce and apple butter, and then we are ready for the winter! Always better homemade.

Again, Becca, what a lovely way to share all we are grateful for, and all we have received and can share. Making my recovery and “slow” summer the best it can be.

Yet another amazing card! Very thought provoking question today. The more that I think about it, the more I realize that I am a dinosaur! I still wash dishes by hand and then put them in the dishwasher. I have never read a book or newspaper via technology, preferring the “real thing” in my hands. I write handwritten lists for grocery shopping and ” to do” items. I use paper and pencil calendars. I am amazed that almost no one seems capable of counting back change correctly. I do most of my shopping in brick and mortar stores. Of course, I prefer to visit my local scrapbook store in person. This could be a rather long list! Have a great weekend.ReplyCancel

Another extraordinary card Becca! Love, love, love all the purple and layers of dies, just my style! One of the things that I do manually is pay most of my bills by check, along with items that I purchase in the stores. I keep thinking that people in line with me at the grocery stores, etc. must think that I’m old fashion because I DO write out checks instead of sliding a credit card into the card reader.ReplyCancel

Another lovely card Becca, love the way you layer it up and the lilac is gorgeous. I dont possess a dish washer or tumble dryer so do all that by hand, washing always gets hung outside weather permitting. For me reading a book is a multisensory thing. The touch and smell, especially of old books the different textures of paper, love it all. I write out poems or sayings that have touched me. And these will be found amongst my bank reconciliations and shopping lists. I prepare and cook all meals from start to finish. All my cards are handmade and i confess to love handsweeping with a broom, very therapeutic oh and mowing the lawn too.ReplyCancel

Well, I sure did have to think about my answer to your question today! That’s a tough one. The only thing I can come up with is that I bake bread the old-fashioned way. No bread machine here! I love baking my Mamaw’s bread! We loved it as children and I’m so thankful that I wrote down the recipe! I actually had to ask her to measure everything once and I stood there writing it down. I have a Nook. I love it, but I still read a lot of paper books. There is something really wonderful about the feel of a book in your hands, turning the pages, feeling the texture of the paper. Well the comment today really has me thinking… My husband reads all the news online, but I still have the newspaper delivered. There’s just something about sitting down with the paper, opening it up, trying to keep it propped up, and reading it. He has also gone to a Kindle book reader. No thank you. I have to have the book, turn the pages, and be able to flip back when I want to. It’s pretty sad to think of these two things as old fashioned, but it seems to be the way of things anymore.ReplyCancel

    • Sandi SmithJuly 10, 2015 - 6:25 pm

Another truly lovely card! Every one you create is extraordinarily beautiful.
My household is a mix of old fashioned ways and modern technology. My husband doesn’t do computers. Not at all so I do everything computer related. My husband doesn’t like cell phones and has the most basic phone available. He doesn’t take pictures or receive texts. No Internet either. I love books and have many but I also own a Nook. It’s convenient for traveling and easy to read while in the car. Having a broken shoulder recently that required surgery after the bone healed, would have made reading almost impossible without my Nook. Even though I have more dies and die cutting machines, I still love reverse printing a sentiment or layout title and fussy cutting it out. I enjoy fussy cutting embellishments plus I hand make almost all my flowers. That’s my favorite part of card making. Life is definitely a mix in this time of technology.ReplyCancel

    Hi, Becca,
I love the die-cutting on this card and look forward to having a machine one day. There are some things that don’t work as well by hand!

The sentiment on many of my cards are hand written. It may take more time but allows me to have freedom of expression; size, style, and verbiage. I worked in a gift store that had a computer-driven calligraphy machine. Amazing machine and definitely superior if one is doing a lot of copies of text. The fact that a machine was invented to do this work (simulating handwriting) speaks to the value of the hand written word.

    Love & blessings,

Becca you are spot on! Every now and then I run a diagnostic I my head to ensure I have all the updated family info so it isn’t lost! Mostly I worry about family history that I have gathered and written down for my daughter and grandsons. I did join Ancestry.com but that just lists the relatives and branches of the family members. That does not include the anticdotal and funny stories that any family member should treasure. Since my mother passed away and lately my closest cousin, there is no one left to insure the family history stays alive, so here I am to the tune of “pick me coach”, plodding away trying to organize, sort and file everything I know about “us”. I also have become the keeper of large plastic tubs full of old photos dating back to the 1890’s. God bless my mother, she was the historian before me and kept EVERYTHING. So now there photos, dishes and even the dress, hat and shoes my great-great-grandmother worn to the funeral of my great-great-grandfather. It also includes the photo of the funeral party with her in that beautiful black satin dress. It’s uncanny and sometimes eerie to feel the fabric and know apart of that dress is apart of me Ina way. Thanks, Becca, for always reminding us of the truly important things and translating them into your own beautiful artwork. I always feel a tad closer to others that can relate to the ideas that come from those creative hands of yours. May God and all of our ancestors bless and keep you, dear heart. So I have a small collection of things such as laundry bluing that I swear does a better job of cleaning white clothes than today’s washing machine can do on it’s white cycle. So I still hand wash a white batch of clothes using the bluing agent and they sure looker whiter than the batch out of the washer that used clorox. I guess I’m stuck in a time warp. lol.ReplyCancel

Hi Becca I still peel veggies with a peeler and cook on the stove in a saucepan
and wash dishes in the sink.
Hang washing on the line and in winter use clothes horse to dry and air we have a wood heater.
Very colonial ha ha . Pretty card as always love the colours XXXReplyCancel

Things I don’t like using a machine for – washing my woolens, even when marked machine washable, and scrubbing my floors on my hands and knees :-)

Oh, Becca…another fabulous card! We prepare our meals from scratch, use essential oils for many of our health issues, make our own laundry detergent and other such things. We do use our dishwasher and other appliances!!!ReplyCancel

I use dies to make tags & die cuts. I rarely purchase them. While I do have a Cricut, I rarely use it. I am much better at cutting dies. I don’t waste so much paper that way!
I purchase some flowers, but prefer to make my own.

Thank you for sharing another gorgeous card today! Someone will be very lucky!ReplyCancel

Another gorgeous card. Yes I do it all the old fashioned way as I don’t get the supplies here & I cannot afford to buy it online. I use a cutting knife for cardstock, scissors, stack of newspapers(cutting mat)& knitting needle(bone folder):)ReplyCancel

Hi there Becca. How are you? Here in Holland the sun started to shine. Well i love my bigshot but I have also plastic dies I layed down on my paper and with my pensil i make the shape and then cut it out.. Sorry for my English.
But most of the time i use my Bigshot. I love to cut out dies with it like spellbinders and others. Greetings and a great weekend. TamaraReplyCancel

This card is stunning, I always make a Victoria sponge by hand, you know cream the fat and sugar adding a bit of flour at a time to stop the eggs from curdling, my friends ask why when I have an electric mixer. Some things just have to be done the old fashioned way, by Hand!ReplyCancel

I like to pick berries and make my own jam. That way I know how much sugar is in there :) Love this card. You are so talented, thanks for sharing.ReplyCancel

Hi Becca…I do have a Sewing Machine, and have only used it a couple of time,I really do like using a Needle and Thread for what ever I make, even though I have trouble with my hands, but understand not everyone can hold a needle to well and, do need a Sewing Machine.ReplyCancel

Hmmm by hand? I love to chop vegetables – and only use the food processor for shredding major jobs – other than that it’s chop and slice! Chopping nuts in an old wooden bowl with a double chopper – more control and less to clean up. I use my dishwasher when it’s a big group but for just one – it’s in the sink. It warms me in the winter and helps is good hand exercise! And like others – when summer comes the clothes are out on the line – they smell fresh and clean without using chemicals!
Your card is beautiful – I love the subtle use of lavender in the background and as usual – you have such a eye for design!ReplyCancel

Hi Becca, This card is stunning, I love all the die-cuts you have used, and in my favourite colours too, stunning !!
I don’t have a dishwasher, all my dishes are done by hand, mainly by my hubby (he washes, and I dry haha), I can’t think of anything else apart from hanging my washing outside on a long clothes line and a couple of props to lift the line higher, but that is only in the Summer, in the Winter I use the dryer. I also have a breadmaker, but tend to make by hand because I don’t like the hole in the bottom of the loaf that the paddle makes haha.
Lots of love from Patricia xxReplyCancel

This card is fabulous! Anything purple always catches my eye. Yes, I do at times do things by hand instead of getting out a machine. For example, if I need to grate cheese or carrots I will get out my hand grater instead of bothering with the food processor.ReplyCancel

    Hi Becca!
I discovered your web page from one of your cards posted on Pinterest and I am so happy to have found this page. Your beautiful and intricate work is so unique. Hi Becca,

Did no realise I had missed this one lol! Beautiful card as always.

I wash up by hand, do not like dish washers!!! Not sure if this was the answer you were looking for but I never think dishwashers get everything clean!

    Love & Hugs

Such a pretty card. I love the diamond background and heart lock. Who can resist diamonds and hearts, right? I have to admit I do make homemade gniocchi just like my mother did when I was growing up. My children and grandchildren love it when I make them, and that makes me so happy and worth all the work.ReplyCancel

Your cards are gorgeous. I cut most of the items for my cards by hand. I do not have a machine to do it for me
