Billions of Bows

I had a glorious week with my sweet son over spring break.  I imagined that once he was home, he’d sneak out to spend some time with friends, but that didn’t happen.  He stuck with me the entire time and it was nothing short of a fabulous gift for me.  I was so thankful for someone to talk to and of my children, he and I are personality twins.  He’s a straight shooter so I spent most of the week with him breaking some honest observation to me. All good, all good.  Now you might understand why I didn’t dare break away to upload some of the things I had ready, lol.  Here’s a card I made a bit ago – don’t even ask me what I was thinking –  I wanted bows and it got a little bit out of hand; once I started tying, they seemed to multiply, lol!!

The base of the card is made using a Martha Stewart punch that I punched nine times in a square grid layout.  I tied a bow in the center of each grid with a larger bow at the top.  I used a sentiment from an Our Daily Bread Designs set called Sweet Friendship.  It’s hung on a tag cut with Spellbinders™ Lacey Ovals and Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals SM.   I also made a box to match the card using the same Martha Stewart punch.  Goodness, it was much easier than I thought, so I’ll put the box on my Tutorial To Do list.

My card is 6″ x 6″ and all bows are made on the Peg Bow Maker, ranging from 1″ to 3″.  Here’s a view of the box with the ribbon removed – inside I have a Prima Rose backed with a fluffy bow to be used as a corsage.  The box is a 2″ cube cut out on all sides including the lid.

SUPPLIES I USED
Stamps:  Our Daily Bread Designs – Sweet Friendship
Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Cream 80lb Cover, Coredinations
Ink: Colorbox Chalk Ink – Pink Pastel
Accessories: Martha Stewart Punch – , Spellbinders™ Lacey Ovals and Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals SM,  Recollections Pearls, Seam Binding, Prima Rose

I missed you guys!! Thanks for stopping by, see you soon!!  Don’t forget to Spring Ahead!!

Love all of the bows! This is a beautiful project and that box would be a fabulous give to give to your mother for Mother’s Day (hint, hint). I am so happy you had time with your son. I am in the same situation where my son lives far away and travels a lot so I rarely get to see him … he is so independent that he can’t understand why his mommy misses him! LOL! I wish you could do a workshop at some of the stamp/scrapbook shows so more of us could meet you in person. Looking forward to your next project … Love & Hugs!ReplyCancel

It is a beautiful thing to spend quality time with each of your children on their own, I totaly agree with you. I was just thinking about one of my sons last night, he just popped into my head and I remember so well when he was only about 2 years old and he loved nothing better than to come up on my knee and have a story read to him and then at the end of the story he always gave me the most wonderful cuddle..last night thinking about him I could actually feel that cuddle…to this day we have always had a very loving and caring affinity with each other.
Your card is indeed covered in bows and beautiful bows they are LOL I love the little box to go with the card, probably big enough to hold a couple of chocolates.

    Hi Becca,
Your card and box are ‘bow-tiful’. A very clever way to use lots of bows and at the same time produce something beautiful but different. It has the feel of a Pagoda, with all the trellis roses creeping through the open weaves. Just lovely.
I am so glad you have had such a close time with your son, we have to grab onto every minute they offer us don’t we?! They grow so fast and have so little time for us as they do; their lives become so busy with other things. My own son is home for two weeks at the end of March and I am so looking forward to it; I have only seen him once in nearly three months.
Have a wonderful week. All the best LindaReplyCancel

So glad that you were able to spend so much quality time together. I’ve actually got the punch that you used today, but I’ve never done a bow in the center of each square…sure is pretty! Can’t wait to see the tutorial on the box, I can see myself making those. Glad to have you back, Becca! Must say that before you started selling your bow maker, I made one for myself. Every time I tie a bow with it, which is often!, I think of you.
