Becca Bit: Right Angle Punching – Part 2

Mercy, I had everything ready for this post but got tied up trying to get my IPhone 4 preordered!!  On hold on the computer, on hold on the phone, we were at the store first thing this morning . . . what a mess!!!  I finally got mine ordered through Best Buy (As other IPhone owners silently nod, right?!?).  A year ago if you has asked me about an IPhone I’d have asked you what it was.  Today, it’s permanently attached to my left hand.  Imagine my horror when last week at the Dr. Office I discovered the whole AT&T Network in my area was out.  All morning my kids and friends called to commiserate instead of taking a chill pill and reading a book, lol!!  Sheesh, once they’ve got ya, they’ve got ya.

Okay so on to my card.  Some of the delicate borders you get using Right Angle Punching technique are fabulous!!  I  tried out quite a few (saved them for future reference) and I came up with these two borders stacked.  Because you use the Right Angle technique on the ends, they have finished ends which I love.  My card is simple I layered gingham on a green mat then used the Martha Stewart Embroidered Floral corner punch and border to make the border – it barely peeks out so you see on the teensy tiny scallops, lol.  I layered my stamped image (from American Art Stamps) on top and tied a bow diagonally.  That left me room to stack up two of the right angle punched motifs made with the Martha Stewart Embroidered Floral Corner Punch and the Gothic Arches Floral Punch which I topped off with little white buttons.  So, the video will show you how to make this one – it’s a little bit different from yesterday, but one you have the angles for this down, you’re ready to move on ;-)

Here’s the next video in the series!

Thanks for stopping by – see ya tomorrow!!

How is that–left-brained, too??!!! Does the term ambidexterity refer to brains also? Or is it mind mapping or whole-brain thinking? I don’t know, but you’ve got it all girl! And your card is awesome!ReplyCancel

  • ScrapycandyJune 16, 2010 - 8:40 pm

Very interesting..I tried something similar awhile back with some old punches (removing the angle edge things). This definitely goes beyond my imagination. Hope your hubby is doing better!ReplyCancel

  • Joyce MJune 16, 2010 - 8:42 pm

Becca, the name of your blog is just perfect because you are truly amazing. Do you realize that when the rest of us pick up a punch or a nestability, we don’t see what you see. We see these tools at face value. How can you look at a corner punch and see all this. That is truly amazing. I am going to have to figure out how to save these videos because you are going to have to walk me through this every time I do this – and I guarantee I am going to try this. Amazing!ReplyCancel

  • Debbie PammentJune 16, 2010 - 8:48 pm

WOW – I sat through this with my punch in hand – stuffed it up the first time as I was using a different punch and needed to work out where to line up! But once I did – wow – am sooooo happy with the result! THANK YOU sooo much for all your amazing tutorials – you are my punch and nestie guru – LOL

What a beautiful card Becca!! Those are my favorite colors. So calming. I also went right over to my work table yesterday, followed the video and made a beautiful card for my Aunt’s Anniversary. I would have never guessed the corner punch could be so versatile. The layering and lace effect on your cards is one of the things I like the most. I call it the “icing on the cake”. i’ve been looking for something to show me how to use punches in other ways accept the ” normal” way. I am having a blast trying this technique and after about 6 times i think i just about have it ! although my corner punch is a martha stewart ,its not the same as yours , therefore i am figuring out that different corner punches gives you a unique look to the punch itself, so if i do the part 2 by following you doing yours, mine has a different appearence when i am done- this is a great thing as now i will have many different design strips ! thanks for the inspiration, and just to let you know, i am one of those folks that has to live off of videos in order to really learn , i have to see and do. so if you can , i know there are many others besides myself who learn this way; can you do as many as possible tutorials to help lead us so we can learn ! thanksReplyCancel

Becca, I am working on making many of these design with my corner punches. But to save money while in the learning process, my mother came up with idea to use dollar store construction paer to learn on. I got a book of 42 sheet for a dollar. Even though I make some goofs while learning, I’m not using my more expensive card stock. The peices that I make that turn out well, my grand daughter has claimed them for her art projects. So they do get used. Keep these wonderful ides coming.ReplyCancel
