A Thing of Beauty

by on October 4, 2009

Okay, you know the glee you feel when you have new stamps ready to stamp?  Call me gleeful!   I have some rubber that’s been over in the corner waiting for me for about three weeks and I finally got to play!!   Oh man I love new rubber.  I got my hands on several gorgeous backgrounds from Cornish Heritage Farms and because I would have taken forever to choose which set, I stamped with the first one I touched.  In fact, I talked myself out of laboring over color choices and such and just had fun!

I used two sets for this card; the background is called Art Nouveau Backgrounder  and the remaining stamps used are from The Rummage Bin line called Ornamental Beauty.  The background was stamped onto a creamy card stock and smudged with Antique Linen, Tea Dye and Vintage Photo Distress Inks.  Yes, I finally made room for a very neglected sewing machine on my table – this is a rarity for me.

Using Spellbinders Labels Three and Spellbinders Classic Squares Large I cut a frame then hand cut a red layer to go behind it.  The stamped sentiment was cut with two graduated circles from Spellbinders Standard Circles Large to make the round frame.  After stamping the flower I used my 1 1/4" hole punch to cut the last circle.   It almost looks like a Christmas card, but not – just my current infatuation with red :D

Card Recipe:
Stamps:  Cornish Heritage Farms – Ornamental Beauty, Art Nouveau Backgrounder
Paper:  Strathmore Card Stock, Bazzill
Ink:  Antique Linen Distress Ink, Tea Dye Distress Ink, Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Accessories:  Spellbinders Labels Three, Spellbinders Classic Squares Large, Spellbinders Standard Circles Large, Ribbon

My scheduled post didn’t go on time so it’s not your imagination that this is dated on the Fourth.  I may have more to post today.  It’s rainy here, so just me, my coffee, my stamps and some movies.  I call this a glorious day – hope yours is too!
