I hope you had a fabulous weekend! Today I’m sharing a card with you using some newish stamps from JustRite Stampers – they are from the Joyful Heart Borders and Center Ovals set. I know that when I use as set I say it’s my favorite, but it’s so true with this set. It can be used for so many things and I love the optimistic message.
To make the card I constructed my card base then created a medallion. The medallion bottom layer is Spellbinders™ Classic Scalloped Oval LG #4 followed by Spellbinders™ Classic Oval LG #3 and and topped of by Spellbinders™ Classic Ovals LG #2. The base of the card is three horizontal panels with a vertical panel layered on top.

Becca, your blog is one that I make sure to check out every single day. I just love your creative designs and am blown away with the detail and colours you choose. This card is a great masculine card, even with the double bow. I just love the script paper! I do have one question for you – How do you tie your double looped bows?

I have this set and I too love it, just need time to use. Another memory I think of often especially when grandchildren or others say they are bored. Just doesn’t compute. We didn’t have television, video games, computers, etc, and the only time we spent indoors was eating, sleeping and doing chores and I honestly have never been bored in my life. We were safe to walk all over our small town to the movies which cost a dime, to the swimming pool, or just the grocery store for a dixie cup of ice cream which had our favorite movie stars on the inside lid. Fun, fun, fun.

This morning we woke to the sounds of water gurgling in our ductwork. Our house is on a cement slab and somewhere our drainage system is plugged up.
“The good old days”….when you were young and your parents had the headaches of home repairs.

Wow, Becca, another beautiful card! As for the good ol’ days, the only time our doors were locked was when we were asleep, or away from home….lol We were taught to walk on the sidewalks only, and actually got in trouble at school for walking on the grass! If those were our only worries now………….

I got so excited thinking about receiving a “Becca” card I forgot to share one of my childhood memories. When I was young my brother, some friends and I would ride our bikes out into the country (I live in a small town) to a local farm house. The man who lived there was a retired horticulturist for the St. Louis Botanical Gardens. He loved gladiolas and had fields of them. He would cut large bouquets for each of us to take home to our mothers. We would then ride home and surprise our mothers with the beautiful flowers. It always seemed to take for ever to get to his farm and then back home again. Funny thing as an adult I checked the mileage to see how far it was (the farm is still there) and I found it to be less than a mile. Seemed like 50 when I was 8. ; )

One of my cherised memories is one of Easter Sunday family reunions. We drove 2 hours after early mass to my mom’s aunt & uncle’s place. They owned a fishing camp on the San Bernard river and probably 100 or more people would show up. Talk about food! With every mom bringing one or two dishes there were never a lack of something to eat. One aunt was famous for chicken & dumplings and she made them in the biggest pot I have ever seen. They didn’t last long. Another was noted for her banana pudding and she made a small wash tub full of it. We kids would hit that pudding before the main food. We didn’t want to get there and find it gone. And they must have hidden 50 dozen eggs.
Most of the aunts, uncles and even cousins are gone now. I’m so glad the Lord left us memories.

When I was younger my family always had these huge Sunday dinners. My Mom would make the gravy from the early a. m. You woke up to the smell the garlic & basil sauteing. The aroma had your mouth watering all day. I would go to church & stop at the bakery on the way home. Then I would take the Italian bread & dip in the sauce. Mmmm, I could almost taste it now.
Thanks for giving me my daily zen moment when I drop in on your blog and admire your creations which are always so inspirational.
I got started catching lightning bugs by my Grandma Beatty. We lived on a quiet boulevard street for a while and when I was 3 or 4 Mom or Grandma would give me a jar and watch me across onto the boulevard divider where there were many bushes….full of lightning bugs. I remember having a liot of them in my jar and excitedly telling Grandma ” Look, I found a substitute for ‘lectricty. ” I was so proud.
I love your cards and I’ve just recently found your blog. I love the bows you do. Have you ever told how you do those? If so, could you repeat it for me. They are wonderful. It looks like it’s double.

The good ole days. So many memories. Walking miles to school. As we walked on our way, we would meet kids from the neighborhood and they always make the walk to school more fun and we made friends of kids we might not have talked to otherwise.
Love your card, Becca, it’s exquisite…ah, for the good old days…I remember we’d go to the movies every weekend on Sunday afternoons, my uncle would drive us as we lived in the country…we always looked forward to the weekend…we also climbed trees and played cowboys and indians…yes, even if I was a girl…with the neighbor’s kids…how carefree we were then and never bored…we’d walk in the woods and pick peaches off the trees and never worried that bad things could happen to us…our world seemed safe compared to today…i’m feeling nostalgic now…

You never cease to amaze me. Another fabulous card. I always spent me summers with my grandma in the country. When she decided to have chicken for dinner she would wring the chickens head off and the headless chicken would go flying around the chicken yard. I liked to play with the chickens head. Particularly the eyes.

Another gorgeous card! I love that Just Rite set as well, but your gift of design makes every stamp set look good! More memories of the good old days include playing Star Light, Moon Light and Hide and Go Seek with the neighborhood kids. We lived in a small town and we were able to use about a six block area as our playground. We could play safely way after dark and totally enjoyed the balmy summer nights.

I remember “trick or treating” long into high school (of course I was quite small). Playing Red Rover with my brothers, building forts in the backyard and sleeping in them all summer, wearing dresses for school and no leggings or leotards back then. Christmas caroling from house to house and people inviting you in for cocoa, even if they did not know you. Celebrating all the holidays at school and having prayer before every event.

Well back to the farm, hand churned ice cream was another treat. Using their own milk and hand picked peaches or strawberries, my aunt would put ice in the churn and then crank and crank and we would sit on the screened in porch on the swings and eat the most delectable ice cream. Have never had anything to compare.

And one of my most precious childhood memories was walking down the country road (in Kentucky) with my cousins, and picking wild strawberries from the hillside to nibble on!
Beautiful card, Becca. Another memory is of roller skating up and down the sidewalk for hours and hours only to stop when we had to go in to eat lunch and supper. Great fun!

Ready for another “Good ol days” memory? When I was in 5th grade I broke both of my arms falling out of a tree – I was quite the tomboy. I had the long casts on both of my arms. With one month left of school, they wouldn’t allow me in class because I was too much of a liability so I had a tutor. After school I went an spent the summer with my grandparents who lived in a fishing village in Upper Michigan. I was not too much of a liability for the commercial fishermen. They let me come on their boats and go out into Lake Superior to bring in their nets. I was so blessed to have the attention of these fun men who told me stories of dangers they experienced out on the “Big Lake” and so many more that I will always hold dear to me. I could go on, but I won’t. Thank you for letting me recall this what could have been a horrible lonely time but instead turned out to be one of the best summers of my life!
