You’re Tweet

I have something fun to share today.  How sweet is that little birdhouse?  It’s been on my work table since early November and I finally sat down to construct it – what a delight!  The template for it as well as instructions are in the current issue of MagnoliaInk (Christmas 2009) so I’m not able to share it online but I believe that issue is still available.  This month the Magnolia-licious Design Team had a challenge and a blog hop called Pretty in Pink . . . I guess I’m still on that page, lol, I’m pretty partial to pink!

The lid of the birdhouse opens up (on the left hand side on mine) and inside I’ve nestled a small set of cards – get it – Tweet Notes.  I used my computer to generate the words then cut them from Spellbinders™ Fancy TagsThe base of the birdhouse is one piece and is made with white cardstock which I smudged with Antique Linen Distress Ink.  Per the instructions I then cut out the template again using Design Paper, cut each side out and shaved a little bit off of each side to make the individual pieces smaller.  After smudging with Antique Linen Distress Ink, I stitched around on my sewing machine and glued each panel in place.  The roof is simply a rectangular piece of paper – for mine I edged with an EK Success border then ran several score lines lengthwise.  I thought it was sweet enough looking to stay simple with the embellies.  Using Spellbinders™ Nested Poinsettia (this is a limited edition) I crafted the flower and added a big pearl to the center.  To finish I tied a bow around it (you’re surpised right?) then tucked a punched heart (Martha Stewart) inside the ribbon.  Even though mine has little 3" x 3" note cards in it, it could just as easily hold Valentines :-)

For the card I simply used the same papers as I had used for the Birdhouse.  I have the sweetest little pink Magnolia sitting up on my ribbon – she is #384 Jam TildaAgain, the flower is made using the Nested Poinsettia and from it I hung another computer generated saying "You’re Tweet" that I cut out using Spellbinders™ Tags Five

Project Recipe:
Stamps:  Magnolia – #384 Jam Tilda
Paper:  Fancy Pants, Bazzill
Ink:  Antique Linen Distress Ink
Accessories:  Spellbinders&Trade; Nested Poinsettia, Spellbinders&Trade; Fancy Tags, Spellbinders Tags&Trade; Five, Martha Steward Scroll Heart Punch, EK Success Moroccan Lace Border Punch, Pearl, Ribbon, Velcro Dot, Computer Generated Sayings

Card Size: 6" x 6"
Birdhouse Size:  4 1/4" Tall, 4 1/4" Wide, 3 3/4" Deep

By the way, Diana at Magnolia-licious is taking preorders for the Spring Edition of MagnoliaInk – I am crossing my fingers there will be another neat template included to play with.  Diana is also taking preorders on the "Raising the Ceiling Collection" – pictures are in the store and the images are so very cute.

I’m off to get more coffee and then back to the studio!  Hoping your day is a glorious one!
